Ideal draft Scenarios

Yeah. I recall even this team doing the same. I think Perriman was a consolation to Peters, of whom  I believe we expected to get.

Depressing.  I wanted Peters something bad.

And Bud Dupree

Yeah, but we dodged the bullet there, lol. Not that I dislike Dupree. Still a big fan of his but I'll never cheer for him since he's in Pittsburgh. There's no telling how he would have developed here with Ted. I think that's another factor that's overlooked. Coaches make a difference. Look at the talent Pittsburgh's invested at OLB. Jones & Dupree have both been mostly disappointments. Jones really only started making an impact his year. I think they're just not great at coaching OLB.

Yes, peters would have been a nicepick up, but I believe Perriman is going to be a very good receiver for us.

I think we got the better KU guy in Za'Darius anyways.  Hindsight might be the one telling me that as I was interested in Dupree at the time, but given the choice now, I'll take what we got.

Maybe. It's hard to say. I do still believe that Dupree would have been good here. I just think the coaching sucks for OLB there in Pittsburgh.

I think it's important to remember that compensatory picks can be traded this year.  So those potential likely two 4th rounders for McPhee and Smith are even bigger now.  That fact coupled with the Ravens draft position in every round, and if the talent evaluaters do their job, this draft could be a very fruitful one.  I'm not great with knowing talent in the draft, but if there's guys that can help the Ravens they could pull off some crazy moves like trading up to have 3 first rounders similar to the vikings a few years ago.  I doubt Ozzie would do that, be there likely could be the opportunity to get a first round talent at receiver, cornerback, and pass rusher

No, they can't. Compensatory picks may be traded next year.

Ahh shoot, my mistake.  Well the Ravens could still potentially have 4 4th round picks which is nice

Yeah. Maybe McPhee turns into a 3rd. He did make the Pro Bowl & that is an escalator. Not sure if it was enough to put him ahead of others, though.

McPhee actually didn't make it. He got the fan vote but that wasn't enough to actually get him in.

Ahhhh! Really? Interesting. Thanks for clearing that up for me!

Pretty sure the Ravens would have taken Shane Ray and Melvin Gordon over perriman as well and were hoping one would be there.

I think we will be better off with perriman ultimately.

I got negged out when I wanted Ravens to lose to Steelers. Steelers ended up in the playoffs anyways and we dropped down from 3 (a sure fire franchise star) to 6. It's not a horrible drop but the risk of finding that franchise star goes down significantly. Ah well

I'll give up 3 draft spots any day to beat the steelers. Besides, you act like we are doomed now... A bust can come from 6 just as easily as 3

So Tyson Jackson was a sure fire franchise star? Dion Jordan? Braylon Edwards? Not all top 3 draft picks turn out to be hall of fame players.

I'm really starting to get used to the idea of taking Treadwell but I fear number 6 might be too high for him. Is he good value where we're at, assuming we don't find a trade partner?

The 49ers winning and falling to one spot behind us could be huge. There is a good chance that they want a QB and other teams may want to jump them. We also would have the option to trade down one spot with San Fran and let them take their QB for a mid round pick and still get the guy we would have taken at 6.

I don't think it's about whether 6 is too high for him, since you take the best player on the board irrespective of everything else. A better question imo is whether he'd be the best player on the board at 6. A lot of the process still has to play out, but if the draft were tomorrow I think we could do better.

Fwiw, though, the latest CBS mock draft has Treadwell going at 4 to the Cowboys.

This is how I'm starting to see it - more than anything we're just the perfect side to trade with if any side wants to jump the 49ers. I'd be looking at Miami at 8, Chicago at 11, Norleans at 12, Philly at 13 (lol) and even St Louis at 15 as potential trading partners. Especially if Goff and Lynch cement themselves as the two best QBs and the Browns take one at 2.

I'm loathe to get on board with a flavour of the month, but if we could get a mid-second (or better yet, a future first if a bidding war breaks out) we could possibly still be looking at Treadwell at 12 or 13.

I was excited when the 49ers jagged the win, but I didn't realise at the time the repercussions could become something really useful.

if the 49ers are the only one interested in trading up To get a qb, I think k we take whatever they offer

Depending on the next Philly coach, I think that is a solid spot to spend a pick on Laquon Treawell. Same with the Saints at 12. Trading down in the first and trying to get two high second rounders is looking better and better. The top of the second is going to be flush with value.

What are people's thoughts on trading for Joe Thomas? He basically admitted he might be okay with being traded depending on the next Browns coach.

Apparently they want a first, and we don't have the cap space for him. I could see a side like the Colts or Seahawks being bigger players for him. Though from what I gather, it sounds like "might be okay with" is underselling the issue a little - apparently he's sick of the constant coaching changes and wants to go somewhere more stable to the point where it sounds like he might simply demand a trade.

Ramsey, Treadwell, Stanley are the names that jump out at me right now... hard to imagine we don't end up with 1 of those 3 but who knows what will happen in the coming months.

Even if Treadwell gets taken (and I'm trying to find a team that picks in the 6-12 range that would want a WR), there will be some good players available in that 11-13 range. Guys like Mackensie Alexander, Myles Jack, A'Shawn Robinson or even Jack Conklin could still be decent options, and obviously there'll be a string of others.

Not exactly. Especially in a weak draft because of the significant dropoff after just 2 picks.

While obviously the higher the pick the better chance of hitting, im merely saying that 3 to 6 isnt the end of the world.  Some people act like we are picking 25th or something.  You can find busts or gems anymore, there is too many examples of each...its all a guess.  For all we know Bosa could be a bust, unlikely,,,yes, possible, of course.
