Do you even watch the games? Aside from the opening game a few years ago, the bengals have given us fits the last several years.

But, what do I know, right? I only watch the games, see the scores and the outcome

not much apparently.

we did beat the bengals with pees on this team...

which clearly means its possible unlike what you are saying

We beat them opener of 2012 (can't really count that last game in 2012) and once in 2013. They have beaten us 5 times in a row now.

So if we throw out that last game in 2012 since we rested our starters - Pees has beaten them 28% of the time.

We swept them in 2008, got swept in 2009, split in 2010 and swept them in 2011. So before Pees we had a 62% success rate against them.

I mean that is the basics, other things play into that as well.

Depends on how far you go back, right? They pretty much owned us 2003 - 2007 including 6 out of 7 at one point.  Carson Palmer left me with a lot of Sunday afternoon headaches.  lol

Well I thought about going all the way back - but decided it was only fair to count the Flacco era since everyone likes to say the Bengals are a Flacco issue.

OK, but as we know that's not true and convenient for the Pees beheading party. :P   Fact is they are a tough division rival.

1996 got swept by them, 1997 split, 1998 swept them, 1999 swept them, 2000 swept them, 2001 split, 2002 swept them, 2003 split, 2004 split, 2005 got swept by them, 2006 split and 2007 got swept so I'm not seeing that six in a row you spoke of here.

Either way we had a 56% success rate against them and a 28% success rate since Pees came in.

Starting with the second game of 2004 when they won.  They then swept us in 2005, split 2006 and swept us again in 2007. 6 out of 7. And think about the personnel on the squad then compared to what we have now.  Seems Rex had some problems with them as well.   lol

Point being, you can usually cherry pick a period in time when a tough division rival dominates. It happens.

Not really. Many of those games we scored 14 pts or less. I wouldn't even blame a loss like that on a Pees led defense. Which is why I only counted the Flacco era when I first did it.

Scored 14 pts twice, 7 pts twice, and 9 pts once. I think there was also a 10 pt one in there but had already closed it.

It's remarkable to me that some people would blame the loss on Pees, rather than Mallett, who really cost us the game. It's even more remarkable to me that people would blame Pees rather than concede that the Bengals are actually a good football team.

People blamed Pees for giving up so many points due to Schaub throwing pick sixes.   They are looking for a scapegoat.

Just to clarify, should read discussions before you jump to conclusions. I've not seen anyone blame this particular loss on Pees. We were talking overall against the Bengals pre-Pees and since Pees.

its even funnier when you notice that out of the 8 games played we only had 1 game with out us turning the ball over which we hilariously won.

take out the  game with back ups in 2012 we actually have 14 turnovers in 6 games against them.

if people wonder why we keep losing to them i think that the first thing to look at lol.

I am talking about posts in the fire pees thread.  Pees is the whipping boy.  Never mind none of the players on defense are that good.

Good...nothing!

Bad.....nothing!

Ugly.....nothing!

This game went as I expected.  Glad this catastrophe of a season is over with.

I only want to mention two things...

Firstly, the pass defense was excellent for much of the day to contain AJ Green outside his touchdown reception. Dean Pees and the players should get a lot of credit for stepping up their coverage and pass rush.

Secondly, Ryan Mallett is exactly who I thought he was from the prior week. I said last week that he was erratic and had a grossly excessive amount of underthrows, even when he was completing the pass. People argued with me and said he was so good and so poised simply because he won.

Fact of the matter is that the Steelers RARELY blitzed him and forced him to make throws. He definitely made some good ones, but he also was, again, very erratic. This week, the Bengals decided to make the newcomer uncomfortable and blitzed him a lot. HIs composure completely was lost and he looked like a child with some of his antics. He was receiving more than enough time for most of his throws, but he was so rattled by the few hits he received that almost every blitz led to a hurried decision and an underthrow. I was very wary of this happening this week but this pretty much confirms it for me.

I fail to understand how a quarterback with so much pure arm strength will have so many underthrows. It's shocking to see how bad he can be.

After going from Schaub to Clausen to Mallett, I hope fans see how much worse off the Ravens are without Flacco.

Amen.

Cam

Rodgers

Brady

Ben

Brees

Luck(yes. The fact that he does a ton with a minimal supporting cast and a horrid defense puts him here. He's better)

Only QBs I'd take over Flacco at this point. "But he's a low IQ QB"

Yeah no. Low IQ Qbs don't elevate their play to be on par with all the names above when there's a playoff game.

Flacco isn't immune to criticism. But he (ironically by not player) reaffirmed his worth. Sorry people

Worrying too much about one team is pointless - for all the times we have lost, where have the two teams respectively finished? Sure, the Bengals have two Playoff berths where we have missed out... for zero wins. I need not state the obvious successes of this franchise at this point in time.

Our team has long been aging at key positions, whereas the Bengals for the most part have drafted and signed younger talent. That disparity has merely come to the fore in regular season games. Now, we have good draft position to retool and start leveling up with them again.

To each his own I guess.

At this point. I want us to draft Treadwell. That would give us a young offensive core of him, Perriman, Camp, Aiken, Maxx, and Crockett. Tell me that doesn't scrare the heck out of you.

For that reason. I say The Good was us losing. We got a better draft position.

Please draft Treadwell

Let's hope so, rare to have exposure to such dynamic offensive talent.

The Good: This forum. Even with this season being what it was (a train wreak accompanied by a perfect storm heartbreak) and the rare lack of a post-season hope for us - fans stayed engaged and the team showed character through-out. Like it was for this game, we loss but we showed that we're not beaten.

This is why I've already forgotten about this aberration of a season and know that this team will be 'that' team that every other team knows will 'go hard' every game and rule in 2016. Mark your brand new calendars.

Did any one see the gatorade shower The Bengels players gave Marvin Lewis? I really didn't understand that it's not like it's there first time entering the playoffs or beating us either.

That was in 2013 when they had different offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator as well at the time. We can blame on talent or whatever on defense but we haven't been able to beat The Bengels in two years. The Steelers on the other hand in which has had less talent on defense than The Ravens  have only lost twice to The Bengels in two years.

I was watching the national broadcast via Game Pass, the commentators (I believe it was Fox) were discussing how the Bengals players won't wear their AFC North Champions shirts or hats because its "no big deal" - way to live up to that, Bungles. Enjoy another one and done!

yeah well when you turn the ball over every time you play them chances are you will loose.

last time we had a turnover free game against them was opening game in 2012.

since 2013 we avg about 2 turnovers per game against them.

guess that is pees fault as well right lol

I also remember our defense giving up big plays during that time span against The Bengels especially on third down.  Turnovers or no turnovers our defense still collapsed on moments when they should have capitalized.

AJ Green accumulates like 500 yards of his season total in the two games against us. Well, not actually, but some of his games against us have been ridiculous.

That's the issue, both sides of the ball always play a flawed game. Waiting for that complete game like 2012 opener, that will be our litmus test to see if we've improved or not. Still, very annoying these sloppy games have all gone their way recently, they haven't been playing perfect football either by any means.

And that Steve Smih call.......
