Coach Kelly Fired!

71 posts in this topic

I don't neg people comments atleast not often lol but you entitled to your opinion. Compariing Kubiak to Trestman isn't really fair especially since Kubiak had more to work with .

Yeah seriously Kubiak had a lot more to work with. Also Kubiak's offense wasn't always smooth sailing either. Lets not forget that colts game where we couldn't even score more than 3 points in 3 quarters and basically allowed a bellow average outside linebacker to completely shut down our passing game.

I think Kelly has a better chance to go to the Browns, Dolphins, Bengals, Titans, or Colts than the Ravens. Browns were a team that wanted him last time before he went to Philly. Dolphins make sense since he could help their offense and maybe make something of Tannehill. The Bengals make a lot of sense if they fire Lewis if and when he loses in the playoffs. The Titans make too much sense that I wonder if it happens with the Mariota connection. Chip has an offensive powerhouse potentially already established in Indy and really only needs an OL there.

It was a lot of things but the thing that got him fired was the Demarco Murray debacle. Not because Murray complained about him but of all his moves, Demarco Murray was the signing Jeff Lurie was least psyched about. Eagles scouts beleived Murray made a lot of money running behind a talented and very in sync Offensive line. Nobody in philly was impressed with Demarco Murray's run skills and preferred resigning Maclin. The falling out today was coach went against the grain and signed Demarco and he ended up in Jeff Luries office complaining and it happened to be the player Lurie wanted least of all the signings. As for schemes none of the offensive coaches thought Matthews was cut out for the slot where he often lined up. Many feel he is far to awkward for the slot. Drafting Matthews over Robinson probably didn't do him any favors either. As for where he works next, the Titans and Dolphins have very very strong interest. So he will be a head coach not coordinator.

Anywhere but, here. Thank you. He could add a little more interest with the Terps though, but on 2nd thought...naw.

He would be awesome for the terps!! On his recruiting power!!

The mere idea that Kelly could possibly be rehired as an NFL HC just proves how watered-down the coaching pool has become or how unimaginative the owners have become. It's a sad, sad situation and it's getting more and more absurd...

True. That was my initial thought, but then I thought...I don't like this guy at all. The mere thought that he'd be anywhere near the state where my Ravens play annoyed be. Let him go, let him go, let him go to somewhere far, far away.

This and it was Kubiaks system. Trestman came in and was asked to adopt a system he wasn't familiar with and by my account did a very good job. I think some fail to realize Trestman should only get better as a play caller because he will have a year of experience with this system.

At least he is an innovator. But your right it is sad how many owner/GMs will give an unknown a chance. Many think Kurt Warner would be a great playcaller. I'm curious if Trent Dilfer would be interested. There are a couple VERY bright, cutting edge and crafty Receiver coaches and offensive assistants in nfl and college that really impresses everybody that knows them. But get held back out of jealousy and intimidation. NFL is like any job.

I honestly think Chip would make a decentHC in the sense he needs his power of decision making limited.  Just like when McDaniels took over for the Broncos.  Giving young, unexperienced coaches all the power is a recipe for disaster.  Although, the way Chip treats plays personally seems to come up quite a bit.

Wow! I thought he would leave after the season! I think that Washington winning the division sealed his fate! I think he would go to Tennessee with Mariota, and if he doesn't go there, I think he's going back to the college level.

Completely agree

Chip Kelly acts more like a team cancer than a professional coach or GM. Look at the Eagles team he turned into a garbage can fire after he had one season of total control. It's his doing, no one else to blame.

I hope you're talking about Jim. They won't get either anyway.

No, they think they can get John because of his Eagles connections and our bad season.

I agree, berad.

Just listening to LeSean McCoy talk about how he was traded without even a phone call from Kelly - found out about it on the news! - turns my stomach. You just don't treat people that way.

I don't know what the friction was with Harbaugh, but I got the feeling there was no love lost when Chip left town last PS. And Harbs ain't going anywhere after last week.

O_O Wow, I really didn't expect that. They must be delusional. Then again, we did have a bunch of "fire Harbaugh" discussions on this message board. Our fanbase isn't that much better.

Harbaugh said he will not be part of the conversation as a potential Eagles coaching candidate. His name has been speculated.

Annnd it's gone.

I can't blame them for hoping for John. Why wouldn't they? We speculate here about Pagano returning after he said he'll supposedly retire. You can't blame fans for hoping.

Guess, so. Must hurt to see the Chiefs play so well under Reid, too. I wonder how much of Chip's early success had to do with the team he inherited. Andy left behind a pretty good team, that didn't play well, because of  an injury filled season.

It's kind of weird how none of his current players are saying anything on his behalf. Quiet as mice.

Maybe he is a slave-driver and an ego driven tyrant. Just sayng.

Yea, from what i hear/read it sounds like his ego gets in the way of sound decision making.  Like he wants to go against the grain, just to go against the grain....

What gets me is Kelly's offense is mainly predicated on speed but yet he unloads Maclin and Desean Jackson. What Chip doesn't understand is the NFL is a player league not a scheme league. Plus his offense needs to have a mobile QB. So he trades for Sam Bradford?

It really looks that way. He appears to be a Bilicheat-type with less discretion. Look out for a 'ChipGate' in the future if he stays in the league.

I mean, I'd generally agree, though it's also quite ludicrous for a franchise to give you total control and expect you to put together a winning team exactly the way you want it in just about 12 months.

Well, he really doesn't need a mobile QB. He wants one, but he also had a dominant offense with Nick Foles as well, so need isn't really the problem.
