Coach Kelly Fired!

71 posts in this topic

Can he become a Ravens offensive consultant? He is so unique in his gifts that he will be really useful as long as he isn't the sole decision maker on the Ravens I believe. So how would it be to bring him on to help the offensive coordinator Trestman and QB coach Mohrinweg? Please don't immediately discard the notion as impossible or perhaps that Kelly is too good to become an offensive consultant. John obviously knows him well now (joint practice) and he works well with HC who are jobless. So what do you think of the possibilities with him coming on board to help with our offense.

Highly doubt he drops down to an offensive coordinator, let alone an offensive consultant. He'll likely get another head coaching job (probably Tennessee where he can reunite with Mariota).

Ha, what if this was all Chip's crazy scheme? Ruffle enough feathers (lol, get it?) so that he gets fired, so he can be back with Mariota. That'd be something.

Now that is what I call very fertile thinking!

I think Trestman did a good job this season all injuries considered. He and Joe will be great together next year, imho. Gotta work on those turnovers, though. ;)

In no way was Trestman's scheme better than Kubiak's .

His third down play calling was horrendous .

He should be released along with Pees .

Bring back our boy from the Colts when he gets canned as DC .

Not sure about OC .

Actually, I think the Ravens weren't too happy with Kelly after our week of practice with them.

Are you referring to when they sauntered on to the practice field and really limited practice times during joint practices? You may have a point, but the coaching fraternity can be pretty tight too.

Wow! I thought he would leave after the season! I think that Washington winning the division sealed his fate! I think he would go to Tennessee with Mariota, and if he doesn't go there, I think he's going back to the college level.

The most likely HC situation for him is clearly Tennessee. If he rejoins Mariota and with another top pick in the draft, I think he is going to make them competitive overnight. Watch out Houston, Indy and should I even say it - Jacksonville!

In my opinion Trestman offensive scheme is more creative than Kubiaks especially when it comes to the passing attack..Trestman offensive system also give more freedom to the quarterback than Kubiaks.  Third down conversion are down  this year but Kubiak also had more seasoned receivers than Trestman.

The fact that the offense is ranked 13th overall with what  Trestman has had to work with is impressive to me and  no way should he be fired and it wouldn't be smart to do so either.

I don't think anybody in his right mind would fire Trestman for what he's accomplished with so little! Moreover, it would be nice for Joe to finally have some offensive coordinator continuity. He's had none for the last 4 yrs and after 4-5 yrs under Cameron!

I didn't think The Eagles would fired him but doubt he would want to be a offensive consultant .I honestly would rather The Ravens be interest in other coaches from The Eagles staff(Bill Davis and Pat Shumur)

He's really a college coach.  I kind of wanted him at UMD

We need to keep Trestman. I want to see how this offense clicks with everyone healthy next year! Aiken is starting to come into his own lately in this system! He may have a breakout year next season!

Nah. I don't see why we'd bring him here. We aren't likely to fire Trestman after one year and give Flacco another new OC. I don't see why he'd take a job as a consultant when he's likely to get better offers. I think the reality is he's not likely coming here. Furthermore, do you think he fits us? I just don't know how Joe would fit in his system

The stats don't tell the whole truth . Trestman is very uncreative on 3rd down and for the most part was very predictable here.

Know there are quite a few here that thought they were watching Cam Cameron at times this year .

Not Impressed.

This thread will last as long as it takes for the Titans to hire him as their new HC. Then again, if Tennessee was smart they would stay away from Chip and go after Bengals OC Hue Jackson instead.

I don't think there is even a remote chance he comes here. He probably gets a head coaching offer somewhere. I'm fine with Trestman considering what he's had to work with.

This. Not sure how Joe would fit in with that offense. Also not sure I want the potential negative effects that his fast paced offense would have on our defense over the course of a game and a season.

I can say the same thing about Gary Kubiak offensive system. He was pretty predictable  at times and honestly his best or more creative play calling came in the playoffs in my opinion especially against The Patriots. Stats don't tell the awhole truth but my eyes don't lie to me  and I'm quite impressed with Marc Trestman  so far.

No way should he get fired and it isn't even logical to do so.

In all seriousness; he's better off as an OC right now. He's not a good head coach because he can't communicate and rubs guys the wrong way. Plus he ends up ruining teams via his demands to be GM. The Titans should definitely give him a call.

Side note: with Kelly out the Eagles are in need of a GM, they might want Decosta.

Still think Kubiak was a much better OC .. You can neg my comments all you want

Third down in the red zone , Trestman's play calling stunk .

I don't neg people comments atleast not often lol but you entitled to your opinion. Compariing Kubiak to Trestman isn't really fair especially since Kubiak had more to work with .
