BTW, how about Ochi? Anyone else watch the EW shrine game today? He was one of the best players I saw today.

I saw the article on nfl.com the other day, where this guy was mentioned as a small school sleeper and someone to watch but couldn't find almost any tape/highlights.

What did he do well?

What did he do well?

He was the first one off the ball every time the ball was snapped. I was really amazed. He almost got some encroachments because of how he timed the snap, but it's not just timing with him--he is explosive off the ball. He also uses his hands well and has a natural understanding of moves to use to get inside leverage on the OT. He can also beat the LT around the perimeter to get to the QB. That's not all--he's very effective getting TFL and was able to get to the RB and sniff out those type of plays. I never saw him drop in coverage but I don't really care much about that tbh.

He's a little light and looks like it. His midsection is small. He's got huge arms and he looks like he has a powerful lowerbody. I'm not sure how much weight he can actually add, but I would guess he can add about 10-15lbs or so of muscle still, mostly to his midsection and chest. The dude has jacked-up arms, though. You can see why he's so powerful with his hands. He probably needs more lower-body & core strength. But he looks really good.

He'll likely be a day 3 steal if he can put it all together.

Mike Mayock and Jeremiah were all praise regarding Ochi. Mayock said he shows a lot of instincts and hustles.

Bosa isn't a good fit in a 3-4, just like Clowney

clowney isnt a problem because of scheme fit, clowney is a problem because hes a raw athlete and hes stupid and lazy

Yeah he has looked good through one half. Top player of the first half for me

Sounds like one of our 4th round picks might be well spent on him

I've heard of him and watched a bit of him, I tried looking into him more but I honestly couldn't find a lot of info on him. Missed the East-West shrine game too.

I think it's very likely we take him in the 4th round or so. I'm not sure where he'll go, but I definitely think we would pull that trigger in the 4th. He's got a lot of potential. He'll at least be a DPR as Mayock (I think?) said. We could use one of those. He's not a guy I would solely rely on to win the game, but he is someone we can develop.

I'm not saying that there's some huge transition with learning a whole new position, like switching from safety to linebacker, like Deone Buccanen did.

Again, the main concern I have with Bosa is his bend around the edge. He's got great knee bend, but he doesn't seem to bend well around the edge and doesn't have much of a shoulder dip to allow him to challenge the edge.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with asking him to be a 3-4 DE in the mold of Watt that will be a one gapper (might actually be a good idea to move to the one gap with Brandon Williams showing he can blow up a gap and Timmy Jernigan being ideal for that) and just blow it up.

And like you said, he can move inside on nickel situations and rush the passer from there, causing a lot of problems because of his ability to really blow up offensive lineman. It'd be great to have consistent interior pressure.

I do think his shoulder dip is a legit concern, but I'm less concerned about it because of his great hips and change of direction ability, and always seem to maintain the same speed and power all throughout his rush, I think his problem is that he does not lower his shoulder enough, I think its more of a fact that he relies so much on power and pushing the pocket, he's technically sound but becomes more a bull rusher, he also didn't get a lot of snaps as a stand up push rusher.

I personally see him playing multiple roles, have him on the outside on early downs and in obvious passing downs rush from the inside

I honestly wouldn't mind a speed rusher, we could use one, I don't think we even have one on the roster. I really desire a Vic Beasley or Von Miller type player on this roster. Its a shame that Beasley isn't in this years draft.

I think Joe Schobert from Wisconsin could fit that bill, pretty light right now at 236lbs but a good athlete none the less, i think he'd be worth a flyer in the 4th.

Dodd is another good option. He's really fast off the ball and I like the way he plays a lot, much more than his teammate Shaq Lawson.

As for Ochi, he's more than just a speed rusher, imo. He is fast and explosive but he has a bit of strength to him as well. I saw him beat one of the LT in the EW game with his strength. I wouldn't call it his strength but it's not a weakness, if you know what I mean. I wouldn't be surprised if he went in the 3rd to tell you the truth. He's a pretty good pass rusher and has a lot to like in his game. I need to see more of him, but it's hard to watch Stony Brook games.

I really do like Ochi, I contemplated putting him in a mock as a comp pick but there was just not enough info out there for someone to search him up without doing a lot of digging, like you said Stony Brook games are tough to catch. I do agree with your settlements about Ochi, but I still view him more as a guy who will use his speed rush in the NFL, but he can win by power.

Another guy who I think will be a good fit here is Kyler Frackrell, he's older than the other guys but he's very ideal in a 3-4 hybrid defense. He can drop back in coverage and rush the passer, he's really underrated IMO and I honestly like him here. He could honestly be a 3-down linebacker. I like him a lot with our comp pick.

The only thing I know for sure is that harbaugh reiterated that we won't be taking on anymore "projects" or players that we have to really develop a whole lot. I mean I know every rookie has to develop in a way but I'm sure Ozzie will be taking nothing but the most pro-ready players possible.

I would hope so at #6.

I really hope Ogbah's stock goes down and hes available later.

I've been a Schubert fan for a while. I like how clean and compact he plays, no wasted motion, and he has a good feel for when to stay home and when to shoot, and when he shoots he can do it in the blink of an eye. He has to bulk up and he has to work on his pass rush moves but I like him for us, has got a lot of raw potential

I guess you could kinda say that but there is still a difference In a complete project player and a player that's more pro ready or Has a higher floor.

Alex mccalister from uf is an interesting prospect. I liked what i saw from him against vandy and Kentucky, he showed a nice ability to bend the edge and shows good size and athleticism, he has a red flag cause he got dismissed from Florida for what i think is smoking pot but im not sure, anyone know more about this kid cause i liked what i saw on tape, hes 6,6 240 but very slim so hes not standing out vs the run yet he shows the speed and bend to get to the qb in a hurry and its something our front seven needs. He seems to be a sleeper in my eyes probably 4th round or later

He looks pretty decent, definitely needs to hit the weight room cause he looks like a wide receiver out there. But he looks like a good fit as a 3-4 OLB as he seems more agile than most guys that are 6'5"+, obviously he's a project but we could use some faster guys at almost every position on this team and he could help that.

Thats what i was thinking and im still looking at, we need players who have speed or just a natural athletic ability. Playmakers....the search goes on and on

Exactly, I think athleticism has been underrated by the FO and it's hurting us. Mccallister could have a similar situation to Danielle Hunter from last year, Mccallister already looks like a better pass rusher though.

I brought him up a few weeks ago, so it's always nice to see other people give him a little love. I'd love to take him with the Gino Gradkowski pick (back of the 4th).

He actually reminds me of Elvis Dumervil, who, interestingly enough, was selected in the back end of the 4th. If we got him, I could actually see his career echoing Paul Kruger's. An underwhelming rookie and sophomore season while we develop him, then he starts to emerge as a quality guy in our rotation and gets overpaid by another side.

Anybody impressed by Victor Ochi. Watched him in the east west game. Showed good hustle, tenacityand when he couldn't get close to the QB he was jumping and constantly in pursuit.Only going off an allstar game but I was impressed. Seemed like he had little man syndrome coming from a small college.
