I'd like someone to explain to me how Noah Spence is appreciably better than Shilique Calhoun, because I see a lot of similar things from them.

I've always liked Clahoun, but apparently he's got a bad first step (something I can't judge really) and that would prevent him from succeeding at the next level. When it comes to moves and speed I don't see any difference. I've sait it countless times, I'm not high on Spence.

Kevin Dodd is really good. This guy hasn't a lot of experience in a 3-4 defense but he's a problem to block. Great get off and physical. If he's there in 2nd round..

I think it would depend on who we select in the first. But, I've seen Kevin Dodd mocked to us in the second.

Does anyone have some Tyron Holmes tape?

I'm quite intrigued by his stats, no matter the competition he went up against, 18 sacks doesn't come very often.

I've only found that one game against North Dakota State so far.

I would search for more but I'm heading to bed..

Try with Noonkick, maybe.. that's a pretty good site if youtube or draftbreakdown don't have the games/tapes you're looking for.

Go Grizz! I only say that because I was born in Montana. I don't pay attention to college football like that.

Good call. That guy is something...just discards guys on his way to the QB.

interested to see at combine whether he might translate to 3-4 OLB. Guy is going to get better too. Awesome off the ball ...always captures the edge and like I said, just tosses guys aside like some cheesy action movie.

Dodd is a good fit for a 3-4. He is pretty quick off the ball and uses his body very well. Like him a lot better than Shaq Lawson.

I was a fan of Shaq Lawson already, and the combine showed that he is athletic enough to play in a 3-4 defense. I kinda want to trade back a few spots now to get him. Well, I do if Buckner and Ramsey are gone. It'd be great of Bosa falls to us and we can get the Dolphins or Bucs to trade up for him. Grab Lawson in their spot and a 2nd round pick.

Didn't think about it but it seems very plausible with Bosa slowly but surely sliding to us. And 8-9 is the perfect spot to grab Lawson, or at worse VH3 (talk about luxury). That would be a killer in the 1St.

That's a really good idea.

So would you guys prefer Lawson over Bosa/Buckner (if they fall to us) in terms of pure pass/edge rushing?

I still think Lawson is behind both of them (though obviously ahead of Spence now), if we're just comparing them to each other.

BUT if we're talking about trading back, in other words Bosa/Buckner or Lawson + another 2nd round pick, then it gets real interesting.

No. I just can't see us ranking Lawson higher than either of those guys.

If a crummy combine leads to Spence falling to the 2nd and Boyd falling to the 3rd it's been a very good week.

Noah won’t fall to the second simply based on his production in college and the Senior Bowl.

Cyrus Jones is so smooth in his turn too… I’m really liking him now.

I like him too also a from Maryland and went to Alabama is their a more perfect storm. Probably pick him in the 4th round, going to be a kick returner to begin and may develop into a good nickel corner.

Based on his performance here, I doubt he falls to the 4th.

Come on guys, this is the pass rusher thread.

I think there is some real talent in the mid late rounds with guys like Kamalel Correa, Eric Striker, Yannick Ngakoue, and Charles Tapper. Striker I like particularly because if he washes out as a OLB I could see him being tossed inside to MLB with some success.

You’re right. It sure is the pass rusher thread. I didn’t realize it.

Yeah. That extra second round pick could let us land Spriggs and Boyd in the early 2nd. OR give us the chance to trade them to get back into the first round for someone. I think Lawson and another 2nd round pick is a better deal than just taking Bosa or Buckner.

So, I don't know about you guys, but the OLBs I'm more interested in are all projected to go around the 3rd/4th round. Off the top of my head I could name Nassib, Kaufusi, Schobert, Nicholas, Ngakoue, Correa, Fackrell, even McCallister or Blair.

And I'm wondering, if you had to chose, in what order would you place them?

I've never seen him before, he looks closer to 6'2" 245 and the strength levels aren't there but he bends really well, has some burst and pursuit. He's a project on the next level but could have some upside.

Fackrell, Correa, Nassib, Ngakoue, Kaufusi, Schobert, Nicholas

Fackrell has a lot of versatility, Correa and Ngakoue have high ceilings and are natural fits at OLB, Nassib has a high floor he plays like Paul Kruger. Kaufusi is similar but I think Nassib moves better and makes more plays. I always liked Schobert but he's probably a 3rd down specialist

Interesting question since a lot of these guys are in the same boat.

I like my edge players (OLB/DE) to be around 6-3 with good arm length, good 3-cone drills, and a nice 10-yard time. I don't put a lot of personal emphasis into the Combine, but those  are numbers that speak to me. Correa has the height but he has short arms, a great 40, nice explosion, but needs refinement. Nassib is a bit tall for me so he may play tall (which he does), is a bit raw, and didn't impress at the Combine for me but he wasn't bad but he does have the production and the arm length I like. Schobert has decent athleticism but doesn't have good arm length and isn't very tall but is good in coverage and I see him best as an ILB. Kaufusi may be limited in the NFL but I do like his measurables exception his height. Dadi Nicolas would be my favorite but he's just so light. I wish he wasn't so light but he is and I am always concerned about my edge defenders being light. He'll need to gain about 20lbs to be an effective edge defender. That's no small feat. I love Ngakoue but he has issues as well, partially being limited athleticism but he's also got problems with his technique as a pass rusher, although he is from Maryland so I'll give him a break there. Fackrell is probably my favorite of this group and my top guy because of his ability to explode off the ball and his coverage skills combined with his measurables. I like Kevin Dodd better than them all, but I think quite a few of these guys on this list end up in the 4th round-ish so we can get one of them there and double-dip.

As for Ronald Blair, I don't like him that much at all over those other guys and would go with McCallister over him. I like McCallister quite a bit.

As for order...

  1. Fackrell
  2. Nassib
  3. Ngakoue
  4. Correa
  5. Nicolas
  6. Kaufusi
  7. Schobert
  8. McCallister
  9. Blair

Do you think Fackrell will end up in the 4th round ? I see him going as soon as the 3rd round and with our high 3rd I'd LOVE WR Shepard.
