[News] What The Steelers Said After They Lost To Ravens

22 posts in this topic

FINALLY, a "What They Said After...." article which makes me happy. So many of these articles regarding what the opposition had to say about the game after they beat us was like throwing salt in my wound. It's fun to read this one, not only because of getting another elusive win, but the win was against our rivals, the Steelers, who had a heartbreaking wrench thrown in their playoff run. I feel all warm and fuzzy inside now, savoring this season's rare opportunity to gloat. Oh happy day.

James Harrison

(on whether the Ravens offense surprised the Steelers)

%u201CNo, they pretty much did what we thought they would do. They just executed well. Give them a lot of credit. They played really well.%u201D

I have no doubt they overlooked us and got slapped in the face yesterday. No way we did what they thought we would do. No way

I think the play calls were tailored to Mallet and with the running game working it kept him from getting overwhelmed. They need to treat Flacco in the same manner, Flacco can't be turned lose he has to be coached up. Quick throws and a good run game with an occasional bomb to keep the defense honest, that's what Kubiak brought to the table and that's what Joe needs.

Looks like the team gelled with the present group on board. So many changes due to injuries they were unable to form a team all season. Most of those that played in this game should be considered for next year's roster.

I think that for the first time this year the team took the field "solid", knowing what they could do, and doing it - without trying for what I call "extra yardage". And I call "extra yardage" the trying to do more of what you are able/supposed to do, which not so rarely brings - figuratively and literally - fumbles, turnovers, injuries, etc. That's the attitude the Ravens played with for most of the year - very dangerous (as we have seen), and very counterproductive (as we as seen). Welcome back this matter-of-factness.

And for a lot less than 20 mil....which could go a long way to getting us back in contention with an upgrade for so many positions that we are lacking at........or maybe trade joe for some db's or OL's.....

" They played so well, that I was willing to get a penalty and possible fine, for a dirty hit on Mallett to take him out of the game"

The "Foot Locker Dudes" gave me a flag.......and then took it away.

I think it's worse being Tomlin than John Harbaugh with this seasons results. At this point in the season we knew we aren't making the playoffs and Pittsburgh thought for sure they are and thought they were going to run all over the Ravens and got their butt whipped. Great win Ravens! I'll be rooting for Jets and Browns next week.

The best part of bringing Ryan Mallett on is the amount of respect he seems to have garnered from all his fellow players! They know how good he is and how he commands the huddle. So, I say he may be the best signing for Ozzie and that will be borne out in the coming years...

I am excited about having Mallett. After seeing that awful Schaub, and mediocre Clausen, Mallett is a pro quarterback while those guys are just pretenders. Mallett did things that even Joe does not. He his receivers on the numbers. He led them so that they caught the ball in stride instead of having to jump for it, wait for it, or reach behind them when Joe throws it their way. In this game he was better than Flacco. If he continues to play the way he did against the Steelers, the Ravens had better keep him. He may just be their ticket out of the cellar.

Short passes, mixed with a solid run game, opens up deep plays like we saw. Best OC called game this year. DC did a good job too. It was nice to see them play as a team at least once this year, every player contributed. I just wish some of these guys would mature and not do stupid things to cause penalties. Lewis...what the heck was that PI all about????

Made my day to watch us sweep them this year. I know some won't like this statement, but I respect the heck out Tomlin and most of the Steelers players--on most days--and them giving us respect is great for the rivalry. I really wish that 101 yard pick six would have been legit and the flag was never thrown.

Lol, throughout the entire season its "fire Dean Pees" now its "DC did a good job" lol. Lets just say that our players (specifically on defense) played as a TEAM. They executed well that day more so than most other games this season. The rivalry and Suggs appearance also added some fuel & motivation to their souls as well.

So if Dean gets the blame when the defense doesn't execute, does he get credit when they do? Isn't it time to see the forest through the trees?

When I first saw this article, I was hesitant to read it (hearing the Steelers whine about how they "lost" the game). Glad I read it, and they gave the Ravens and Mallett respect for playing an awesome game. Much as you hate the Steelers, you still have to respect them.

I know Steeler fans and they respect this rivalry. Of course, they're naturally sour due to a sweep and carry over from last year's playoffs. All in all there is respect. I'm sure they would be moody if the Browns take them down this weekend. I'm rooting for the Chiefs and Cards
