[News] The Breakdown: Eisenberg's Five Thoughts vs. Steelers

67 posts in this topic

1. Ravens with some 2nd, and 3rd stringers in key positions competed against a team like the Steelers who are supposed to be a team no one wants to play. I am Interested to see if this continues against Bengals.

2. Matthews, Clay, Givens, Butler are going to make IR%u2019d receivers work to get playing time. Clay is a solid returner, Givens can stretch the field, Matthews plays like a big guy in the Red Zone, and Butler has great hands. (M. Brown, Waller, Campanero are going to have to beat them out now.)

3. Can Mallet continue to make a bid for backup QB? Joe%u2019s injury may not allow him to start at the beginning of the season so a solid back-up could be huge.

4. Pees finally used cover 2. Gave up yards in the run, but kept everything in front of defense. Steelers rely on the big play and Pees gave his CBs the 2 safety help they need to be successful. Jimmy and Webb play much better in a cover 2 look.

5. This will be an interesting offseason. I like the growth of guys. The depth at WR could be a strength if Ravens can add a vet and Perriman can finally contribute. TEs are rock solid. RB is deep with Foresett, Allen, West, and LT? Quietly KO is solid at Left tackle. KO adds physical play at LT position. I wish we could keep him. Between draft and free agency Ravens can add a top pass rusher, Safety, and OT

No, I don't think we have a QB controversy.  True, Mallett had "a" good game, but he's not in Joe's league yet.  He's seems to have the right building blocks for a good foundation for a back-up, and for someone who can win a game for us and not just manage it. Joe's our man...and we shouldn't lose sight of that.  We've ridden Joe's arm and ability  many years to the play-offs and to one superbowl. I'm glad we have Mallet as a backup, but we'll stick with Joe as our main go-to guy! He's not perfect, but he wins.

No QB controversy here but stirring the pot a little doesn't hurt, Joe was handed the job with no competition and some seem to think and act like he does no wrong. I don't see any wrong in showing Joe that there is someone out there that can do equal or better to keep him on his toes it will make him a better QB. Flacco's performance this year before his injury was was less than stellar, he needs to work a little harder.

Texan fan here again. How do you like him now?? I told you that Mallett would be a pleasant surprise for you. Wish we had him back for the playoffs (if we make it) Could you please trade us your draft choice so we can get a quarterback for next year!!

Sure. I think Ozzie is going to ride off into the sunset after this season, so he won't mind. What are you offering in exchange? How about your first pick, your third and JJ? Seems about right.

A very good win but lets not lose sight of the fact that there is a lot of work to be done to get the Ravens back to being one of the dominant teams in the league.

Understand something first, I am not a Joe hater, nor do I think that Mallett should be handed the starting job, BUT, Mallett does things after being with the team for 2 weeks that Joe still can't do after 5 years. It was nice to see our quarterback lead the receiver and hit him squarely on the numbers. With Joe, the receiver has to jump, reach back, or wait for the ball. None of that happened Sunday. I hope the Ravens saw what I saw and don't ignore it.
