[News] Ravens Take Pleasure In Sweeping Rival Steelers

37 posts in this topic

After such a depressing season with so little to be happy about, I am feeling content to have at least gone toe to toe with 1 of the hottest teams in the NFL....and won, especially with a brand new backup QB and many backup players. To mess with the Steelers playoff dreams by sweeping them is enough to make this win very gratifying. Most important, after this win, I feel more optimistic about the Ravens bouncing back next year and being back in the playoff hunt again.

It is funny ... the times we've faced the Steelers without Ben and barely won or even lost. This time, they got to lose to our back up QB ... and under such critical circumstances. Ha!

Exactly. This was our revenge for all the hoopla over the Charlie Batch win. And we knocked them outta the playoffs to boot!

Dropping from a top-3 draft pick to outside of the top-10 never felt so good. Totally worth it to potentially ruin the Steelers' season. Jets had better hold up their end of the deal or I'm going to be pissed!

Boomer Esiason must not like the Ravens much !

He looked like he'd taken a bite of a crap sandwich after the game was over...!

I love when the pundits give us no chance and we show them different !

We've won 5. I can tell you this much; had we won only the two Steelers games, it would have been somewhat satisfying. Losing all of our players this year was really hard. I miss those guys. But all of this is so bittersweet for me. It's tough knowing that next week is the end of our season.

So we get a Top 10 pick and a Steelers sweep in a rebuilding year. This season ain't so bad after all. So proud of the fight these guys showed today. Allen, Aiken, Butler continue to step up, but we won this game like we have won the majority of our games in Baltimore: with Defense. Get our identity back Harbaugh!!!

Mallett was jamming, offense just kept marching the field. First game without a pick since week 8 and we only had 3 games this season without a pick, weeks 16, 8 & 5.

So we potentially get knocked out of the top 5 for draft picks... So what I say! This win is worth it on a couple of levels. This is what being a loyal fan is all about.

TAKE THAT SNOOP DOG!!!

Hey Ryan, how's your voice buddy? This morning you were struggling to talk! Now with this improbable win, your voice must be gone!!!

A few weeks ago when it was apparent we wouldn't make the playoffs, over on the NFL website a Squeelers fan had this to say: "I hope the Ravens start winning now that they won't make the playoffs so that they also won't get a high draft pick." The fan also said he didn't care if Cleveland got a high draft pick, just not the Ravens. Anybody but the Ravens!

Well, I'm soooooo happy we were able to grant you your wish starting (ironically) in a game against "your Squeelers" with such big playoff implications on the line.

I think next time that Steelers fan might want to keep his mouth shut about our Ravens at least until our two divisional games are in the books.

Congrats to the team- this was a nice win. Too bad though that we can't believe every team we lost to this year was the Squeelers, meaning if we played all of our games with the same passion, then maybe we'd have more wins- this is a really confusing win for me. If we played great today against a playoff contending team, then why couldn't we do this all year? Also, I'm going to throw this out there, but maybe we get rid of Flacco and start go with Mallet. We have so much dead money on the books and such bad drafts in the past five years, why pay Flacco 18M a year when we need to fill all these holes? It's not like we're going to get good overnight anyway with all these holes- if we take Flacco's money, then we can sign some better free agents. Preston writes a good article about the state of the Ravens here: http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-preston-ravens-column-1225-20151224-column.html

Jimmy and Webb still needs to take a major pay cut. Jimmy is statistically one of the worst CB along with Webb in the league. Both commands elite CB money. Time to trim the fat!

With all of the starters gone, yesterday was so sweet. Almost seems like the games earlier led us here. Playing these younger guys has given them the experience to grow and learn. Like an extended preseason for them. Heading into next season, this really could be pretty huge. We have some good young guys when you look at the roster. They'll have game experience and will know the system.

Was awesome seeing Suggs on the sideline. Who says he doesn't support his team? You can bet he wouldn't miss steelers week as long as he can walk.

I'm reserving judgment until next year.  Jimmy coming off a Lisfranc;  and Webby moving into the Safety spot...  That could be huge for us. Bring in another CB or two...  But we really are not the worst in the league.

this was sweeter than sweet. Last time they said we only won bc Ben was out. Well guess what? This time Ben was in- And ALL of our starters were out and we still beat them. And they were fighting for a postseason bid. Had that pick 6 not been nullified we would have beaten them pretty distinctively too. I'm through the roof. Like I said before- screw the draft position. This is ten times better. And picking from 7-12 in this draft is better than 4 anyway IMO with the way things are looking now. Now vh3/ Ramsey/ Stanley won't be a reach.

Get rid of Flacco. What have you been drinking lol? Ryan will be a nice addition but Flacco stays. Go Ravens.

The guy has played one game.  He's gonna be a great backup.
