One good game, everyone wants to dump Flacco! Way to forget what he did for us the past 8 years!

I was thoroughly impressed with Mallett. He threw the ball really well and made good reads. Major credit to Trestman, who I think called a great game and prepared a free agent QB in 12 days.

Wow Buddy, First you cut QB that has had us in the playoffs more than any before and won a SB, for a backup that just had 2 blowout losses. Now you cut him for a QB that just had his 1st career high game. Who do you think we are?? Cleveland??!! If that's what you want go cheer for the Browns. They'll agree with that thinking 100%! Smh

Buddy? When did we become so chummy? Yes, fire an 8 year QB who makes $20,000,000/yr and once said, and I quote, "I just run the plays they give me." He made that statement this year. Yeah, fire that guy. Or, cut his salary to the level of his ability, so we can get and keep great players.

It wasn't the best ravens game but Mallett passes looked better, was thrown better and with great accuracy for most of the game. He had 2nd and 3rd string guys looking like all stars. It's been awhile since I seen us just march with completion after completion, throws landing in prefect spots for receivers like that.

^This.

I mentioned in Eisenberg's comment section about whether or not we are looking at a QB controversy next year if Mallett continues to produce. Of course, the early answer to that is to laugh, but as we get closer, if Joe starts throwing a bunch of int's again and can't seem to get on board with his receivers after coming back when Mallett will have been throwing to them all off season, most of pre-season and depending on the healing process, the first couple games of the season. We know the on field stuff we see on the camera but what is interesting is what Aiken said. "He was our leader there in the huddle. He talked throughout the whole game to make sure guys were upbeat, and he led the whole way today." How many times have we heard comments that beat up Joe for not having emotion when Mallett is the anti-Joe showing every emotion on his sleeves. Will fans be drawn to Mallett because of wanting that fiery qb for so long. I am not saying anything will or will not happen but I have seen the comments and I can guess what will be coming.  I have already seen the comments in here and to give that much credit to Mallett and to place those expectations on a guy you have seen for one game just fuels my argument.  After this season people are ripe for a qb controversy but remember, there is a reason this guy is here and just wait for his first pouting spree.

Great post. Even when "Check down" didn't have competition there was a QB controversy. It was/is whether or not "Check down" was/is overpaid.

Chummy? Lol! Thank heavens we have a F/O that is way more capable of making these decisions than some wannabe Browns fans. Maybe we should go for Manziel next week! SMH! Lol

I say we trade joe(no there is no heart in football its ALL business) yes i'm glad he got us a superbowl and for all the memories but for a 20million savings he's gotta go or trade for some players we need.... we could definitely get by with Mallett at QB...joe is not worth 20 mil a year period!....Its football folks and time for some Real cost cutting moves!!

“His poise today was unbelievable,” wide receiver Kamar Aikenicon-article-link.gif said. “He definitely had total command of the offense today. He was our leader there in the huddle. He talked throughout the whole game to make sure guys were upbeat, and he led the whole way today.”

“To operate the way he did, change plays at the line the way he did, I think it just says a lot about him, but it says a lot about our coaches as well,” Harbaugh said. “This kid was in there 24/7. This kid was in the staff meetings at night.”

Maybe I missed it, but I don't recall any of the coaches raving about Flacco calling plays at the line of scrimmage.  Aside from the 4th down pass to Bolden in the SuperBowl,  I don't remember hearing anyone praising Joe for calling audibles.

Wasn't it Joe who took control of the game against the P*triots that got us to the Super Bowl?

even kyle boller had a descent game once. glad to see mallet had a strong game because it makes us a better team depth wise but to say that flacco should be traded or cut is funny.

Not only are these dump Joe comments immature, I believe with the salary cap they are impossible.

One of the bloggers stated trade Joe for a bunch of players and in the same sentence explained why Joe is not worth the money. I think I fell downthe rabbit hole and here comes the mad hatter shouting "off withy thier heads"

Ryan Mallet supercedes Clausen and Schawb.  I was also impressed with Chris Matthews.  More guys out on IR- Brown and Monroe.  We are number one for IR!   I saw a lot of sad Steeler fans today. I hope they lose to the Browns. I'm rooting for KC

With the playoffs on the horizon I went to my default team.   An NFC team I liked way back when they played in St. Louis and wholeheartedly supported them in 08 in the SB.  They sacked the pack with 8 .  Go Cards

Always enjoy listening to fans advise athletes to voluntarily accept less money when 0 of those fans have ever accepted less income in their entire lives.

Let's at least try to keep the hypocrisy to a minimum please. It's getting out of hand.

I erased the neg comment. Yourlogic is sound and realistic.

Kid played like he's been here for years and mostly with second stringers, really didn't see Flacco look this good before he got hurt even playing with 1st stringers. Go back look at the games Flacco played in, which games did he NOT throw an interception or have a fumble. People keep complaining that raven receivers can't get "separation". Chris Givens didn't have any "separation" when Mallett hit him in stride for a 39 yd gain. When the last time Flacco had an opening game TOUCHDOWN?  Mallett must have learned something from Tom Brady, I've said that Brady can make any receiver look good. Not counting Flacco out or jumping on the Mallett bandwagon just going......hmmmmm...we'll see.

Several "fans" mention what Flacco has done for the Ravens and how grateful we should be but fail to realize that his performance has actually been sub-par his entire career. With the exception of the torrid 2012 playoff run Flacco hasn't been a consistent and reliable quarterback. Ryan possesses the same strong arm and size but better instincts and anticipation. The throws he was able to make showed Ravens fans something they have rarely seen from Flacco. If he is unwilling to negotiate a restructured deal then it just may be time to put him on the trade block and hear offers.

After ONE game, you are ready to suggest we move on from Joe Flacco, a Super Bowl MVP and winner, and All the rest of the records he has achieved since the first day he came into this league! Amazing! Shocking! Count me as someone who was happy the day we signed Ryan Mallett to be Joe's Backup, and is happier yet after seeing his First performance as a Raven. Please do Not count me as someone who is ready to give Joe an ultimatum and put him on the trade block just because I liked what I saw from another QB in ONE game. Unbelievable!

Wasn't it Joe who took control of the game against the P*triots that got us to the Super Bowl?

And wasn't it Joe who, according to Trestman, surprised Everybody, including Trestman himself, with his bootleg TD run earlier this season? Just because his coaches don't talk about it that doesn't mean that Joe hasn't audibled, changed plays, or done anything else they might have mentioned that Mallett did. Maybe they just mentioned it in Mallett's case because they were a bit surprised that he was so quick to catch on to when it was necessary in a system that was pretty unfamiliar to him. As long as Joe's been our QB, I'm quite sure that he's done it much more than Moderator 3, and I, have pointed out.

Crazy idea. How in the world do we know we can"definitely get by" with Mallett at QB after we've seen him play exactly One game for us? And do you have Any idea how finances, contracts, and the salary cap work in this league? A trade, as you suggest, would probably be Extremely difficult to do. People just have to settle down and be happy that we very well might have found a good option as our backup QB for next season. It's Incredibly too early to even Think about a QB controversy, let alone entertain one.

Gonna be hard to keep this guy on the bench next year....

That depends on a few things. One, did he learn a lesson from his immature actions in Texas. Two, does he continue to look as good as he did in ONE game. And three, Joe's restructure, his healing time, And his play on the field. Lots of questions. I said, as soon as we signed him, that he was better than Shaub and Clausen. Only one game but it looks like he's out to prove that.

I've liked Mallett even before he left the Cheatriots. Of course, I was definitely disappointed in his immature actions in Texas. But, I have always believed that everyone deserves a second chance. I mean, come on, Jesus gives ALL of us second chances. So, I was glad that we signed him and said right then that he was better than Shaub Or Clausen. He played a great game against the Squealers and I was not at all surprised about that. I feel great about starting next season as our backup QB. But, I just cannot join so many people on here that are ready to anoint him as our next starter Over Joe. How soon people forget all that Joe has done for us. He's a SB MVP and winner. He has set a Bunch of other records. How can so many people want to give up on him so quickly? Joe, personally, from me to you, I hope this isn't goodbye already.
