[News] Courtney Upshaw Reacts To Pick-Six Gaffe

25 posts in this topic

No no no Courtney. One steak dinner isn't going to do it. Don't forget the wife and me. It was not easy for us either. I expect there will be about 100,000 more. Ruths Chris/Prime Rib at about 50 a pop. We will pay for our drinks because we are decent and understand that about 5 mil is fair and equitable. E-mail me time and date. Thanks.....and it's a good thing we won, with your help and most important sack. Man I'm hungry!  I've been a Baltimore football fan since the Colts came to Baltimore. Have seen the great highs and some lows: Colts through the Ravens, but never have I been more proud of my home team than today. Great effort and victory, but I was not totally surprised for we have always played good tough integrity  laced Baltimore football.

Jimmy should have asked for a new car...or at least a new big screen tv. lol. How many times in a career do you get a 100 yard pick 6? Thank goodness we won despite that huge mistake.

If it were not for stupid penalties, the whole game, this would have been a blow out for the Ravens! Welcome to Baltimore Ryan!

He made a mistake (paying attention to the receiver but forgetting to check his position), but he did play a strong game!

Sucks for Smith because he's not traditionally a ball hawk and that was a huge return, but we got the win anyway which is what matters. I hope ironically that this win doesn't cost us the best defender in the draft.

Had we lost, that play would have been devastating. Glad we still pulled it out and that Upshaw contributed in the final drive with a big sack. Still, we just have to clean up the self-inflicted issues. That has been the #1 issue with this team outside of injuries.

It's great the Ravens won and Upshaw can take the high road about the penalty; however, I have a big problem with the call. It's not like Upshaw was overtly offside and as you looked down the line on the camera angle MAYBE his toes are in the neutral zone and he might be leaning a SMIDGE. The zebra is making the call from 40 yards away himself. That's a tough call to make when it's that close. Realistically the flag could/should have stayed in the pocket. It could have been a game changing call and when it's not clearly apparent a good referee should refrain from making a call unless it's clear cut. There's too many NFL refs that want there 15 seconds of fame and this ref was going for it. Watch the replay the see this zebra throw the flag 50 feet in the air to draw attention to himself. Just more of the lousy referee calls we have seen all year .

I am not so sure I would lay this all at Upshaw's feet...it isn't like the Steelers centers haven't been known to move the ball before...just sayin!!!

How about J.Smith buys the team steak dinners for not just one but 2 PI's in the endzone......

Thanks for recognizing what I also saw. Jimmy Smith should be somewhere being quiet. He plays nothing like a Raven. Upshaw even with the offside mistake contributed more to the victory than Jimmy. Jimmy got an interception that was thrown directly into his stomach and that's the only reason he caught it.

Jimmy Smith continues to pull one bonehead move after another. I don't see what Harbaugh sees in this guy. he is good for a couple of PI's each game no matter what. As for Upshaw lining up in the neutral zone, that is just plain asinine for a pro of his caliber. There continues to be a discipline problem with many of the team. Harbaugh makes a statement each week about it, yet it goes on week after week. All in all though a great win that came at the right time. I was really expecting a loss to better our draft position in APRIL. But, glad that we really placed the Squeelers in a bad place for their playoff chances. They were not ready for what the Ravens brought to the game.

Are Smith or Upshaw long term players? Upshaw was touted as a big play guy but rarely makes one. I will give him the sack late in the game, big play. TWO PI's contribute to 14 points for Smith? Surprising win.

He only had one PI in the endzone.  The other one was on Kendrick Lewis.

Jimmy makes those PIs because he knows he's just got beat (again) and if he doesn't do something the opposition gets 6 points. At least this way he keeps the ball out of the end zone. Last-ditch moves by a poor player.

I hope we keep Upshaw, regardless of his infractions, he is an adversitial defender, which may not mean a sack artist, but he does a lot of dirty work and on the field adjustments that help us. Despite the PIs Jimmy had a good game and I think this will help his confidence. I'm glad he was making plays out there because I think when fully healthy he is top 10 material. Just have to let him be physical! He isn't a crazy finesse cover guy, but if he can press and anger the receivers he tends to win the battles! Go team go

Ravens need smart players Upshaw, Smith, and Brooks just are not football smart. They will always cause you to lose more games than help you win games. The one reason Ravens won was the QB was able to hit players in stride. Joe going to end up like RGIII, and Kaepernick, if he don't watch it

This was a career (not typical) game for Mallet. He is no way close to Flacco and I wouldn't trust the season to him unless I had to. He had a good game against a Steelers team that played bad.
