The Good, Bad, and Ugly from the Steelers Game

How dumb is it going to look if he gets the first and they score? With an offense like that, they didn't really have reason to believe they couldn't get one yard

Bigger risk of driving all the way down the field and having nothing to show for it.  Big boost for the other team when you do things like that.

And that fake 11 TD 0 INT (tied) record

And that fake game @ Pitt to win the division when he led a game winning drive against the #1 defense on prime time where Torrey Smith dropped the 1st game winner.

And that fake AFC Championship game vs Bellicheck and Brady.

Was it Worth it beating the Steelers? Steelers still got in playoffs. So we screw up #4 draft pick if we let the steelers win that game.

Nope. Hurt us in the long run. Who cares if we swept them. They made the playoffs and we are siting at 11-5.

I'd gladly get swept each year, by the Steelers, if at the end of it all you told me that the Ravens would be in the playoffs and Steelers sitting at home.

Truthfully, it took us out of possibly getting Bosa or Tunsil.

It gave hope for next year, though. The defense played well against a potent offense, which is what many of us needed and wanted to see. It will be a source of confidence moving into next season.

lmao!   There's no way to tell if it hurt us in the draft.  Come back in 2 or 3 years and tell me how the 4th and 6th picks compare.

And if you don't understand what it meant to this team to beat the steelers at that point of the season, well. I'm not sure what to say.

Please explain to me what exactly it meant to them? Because they aren't playing this week.

And don't give me some bs of how it will be a momentum boost for our next game when we don't play another meaningful one for 8 months.

You could possibly say that they got to play spoiler. But guess what? They made it anyways and the Ravens are playing golf this week.

That game means zilch to the Ravens at this moment in time.

Players don't forget good performances quickly. Especially in a season marred with disappointments.

So you are saying that beating the Steelers will benefit our team, in a brand new season that doesn't start for 8 months? Come the hell on. Some of you guys are clueless.

To top it off, more than half of these guys probably/hopefully won't even be on the field or even Ravens next year.

Idiotic logic. Teams who win Playoff games will face the same lay off, with all but 2-3 weeks difference. On your logic, no team has any reason to enter next season with confidence due to time between games. Utter rubbish, players say all the time that it matters. Whether or not you miss the Playoffs, or lose in the Playoffs, there are always positives you can take away.

And I dare say "more than half" those guys will be, what sort of wild overhaul are you expecting? It's not likely or even possible (or logical), in any sense.

OK, So I see you really don't understand so I'll give it a shot.

There's a lot of young players on this team that learned valuable lessons that will remain with them for their entire careers. It's a team sport and winning that game with all heart and effort when they knew they were out manned formed a team bond that will carry into next year and possibly beyond, without question.  If you've ever played a team sport for any length of time you understand.

It formed a bond. Oh lord buddy, these are grown men.

The psychological nonsense that goes into sports is just pathetically overplayed. These grown men aren't going to sit around and say they have a bond now after going 5-11. They get up and work their asses off and play to the best of their ability. It's either they show up next year and are a better team or they aren't. It's not going to be because they formed a bond over a meaningless game.

I didn't understand your entire first paragraph. I'm takin it you said that teams can take away positives from the prior year? Well I agree, I don't see how one particular game can. If the Ravens are good next year, they aren't going to look back and say, that Steelers game lag year is when we decided to be good.

And let's see. I'll take you up on the half of the guys won't be on the field. I'll take the starters from the Steelers game.

Mallett: won't be on the field

Buck Allen: probably not starting

Juice: back

Unsure about most of the oline but most won't start next year or weren't even dressed

Aiken: won't start next year

Brown or our second WR: won't start

Suggs wasn't there on D, Wright won't start next year, D Smith may not be here along with K Lewis.

And this is just speculation about who may or may not be here.

I would take the bet that the 22 players who started against the Steelers, half won't be starters or even on the team next year.
