The Good, Bad, and Ugly from the Steelers Game

172 posts in this topic

This was way sweeter than a top 5 draft position. You can't beat sweeping the steelers AND knocking them out of the playoffs.

I was very pleased with the turnout at the bank. Lot of people were saying there would be a terrible towel takeover and blazay blah..pshhh we showed them who's their daddy regardless of the record. We will be back.

PFF just rated Dumervil as the worst edge rusher of the week and Mosley was the worst MLB in the league this week also.

Top performers:

LG Ryan Jenson (+7.4)

ROLB Courtney Upshaw (+3.1)

QB Ryan Mallett (+1.5)

CB Shareece Wright (+1.5)

CB Lardarius Webb (+1.2)

Hill only got 29 snaps...

From reviewing the defense, PFF is on the money that Mosley had a bad game.  When the Steelers ran the ball effectively early on, they got a lineman or the FB on Mosley every play and he was unable to shed.  In particular, rewatch the Steelers first 4 offensive plays for good examples.

His worst play of the game may have come when he took a bad angle in coverage of Williams, which allowed 20 YAC to be tacked onto a 2-yard pass (Q4, 8:36).

Don't just take my word for it (or PFF's), watch yourself and decide.

Arrogant "Twinkle Toes "Tomlin gave us a Christmas present by going for it on their first possession on 4th and 1

instead of kicking a field goal .

Tomlin was thinking he was gonna roll over us and embarrass us in our house, the ultimate in arrogance!

That cost the Steelers the game.

Great win! It felt like 'old school' Ravens swag.

The Good: Everybody including Mallet, the team and the fans in attendence heard the wakeup call and were all in. We have no idea how the team will look next season, but that game proved that the Ravens Swag is still in affect.

honestly it was a pleasure seeing the ravens shatter the steelers playoff hopes. my brother is a steelers fan, and he was mocking us before the game like there's no tomorrow, after the game i went to his job and yelled " how about dem STEELERS", he looked shell-shocked & depressed.

Yep and by running it I think they were trying to disgrace our defense even more because when a team can run on you at their will it is just that much more demoralizing and pretty much the first quarter they were running on our Defense all they wanted but our Ravens shut them up.

I am a Ravens fan living in Cleveland and I am not real happy with this win it dropped us from 3 to 8 .

Weird.

The Good: 18 on IR with core players, playmakers and probowlers included, yet 'new' playmakers step-up and make plays when there's very little to gain. If that's not a testament of strong coaching and front office/scouting talent management than nothing is.

Outstanding job Ravens! Keep ballin' win or lose.

Liked the fact that the run defense stiffened up in the second half. That was horrible to watch in the first half.

Aiken again had a nice game. Definitely a keeper. Maxx did this thing and I liked how the o-line kept the pocket clean for Mallett. Speaking of which, Mallett looked like a 10-year veteran out there.

Now........................if only our defense could've played like this the entire season. Smh. I know this defense WILL be addressed in the offseason, but I'm going to be upset if they start out slow again next season.

The good:

Mallet- no turnovers. Enough said. That's how you win games.

juice- never shows up much on the stat sheet but he earns every yard he gets.

Aiken- reliable. Not huge numbers but will consistently put up 65 +

buck- had a good rebound game- and held onto that ball! Lesson learned.

Chris Mathews -not only with the td catch but made some nice plays on special teams as well. I see some potential here.

The bad:

Ryan Jenson- costly penalties.

Kendrick Lewis- turn and look for the damn ball kid.

Upshaws foot- really? Costed us a 14 point swing and almost the game.

Screw a draft position this feels much better.

I dont know who stayed in the backfield more in the game.Mallet or Jenson.  Baltimore Sun said he struggled and that he did. Say what you want to about Mallet good or bad but that is the first real quarterback I have seen under the center for the Ravens in several years. On top of that he showed some enthusiasm for the game and that hasn't been seen in some time.

Wish Ryan Jensen played some more throughout year so coaches could see some more of what they have.. He's played pretty well in limited time

Mallet looked good against a terrible secondary. Let's see if he keeps his head on straight first

Overall, exactly what harbaugh needed to carry over into next season and always good to beat Pitt

I don't know if anyone else mentioned it, but Jimmy really did have one of his better games of the year and has steadily gotten better since the bye

Jimmy is the defensive equivalent to Joe Flacco. Rarely is he given credit when he plays well but he'll get roasted when he struggles. Even when they were both on their rookie deals we saw this same trend so it's not exclusive to contracts.

I couldn't agree more with this.  Ravens will still have a top 10...likely a top 8 pick and whether they're at 4 or 8, should still be some game changers to draft.  If the Jets win and Steelers officially do miss the playoffs, a small drop in the draft was definitely worth it.

I'm not trying to call him out, but it's like when LiT said Jimmy is good, but not great when healthy.

The kid was top 32 in coverage in 2013 (and ranked top three in targets per coverage snap and yards per coverage snap for a 13 week stretch) and top 5 in coverage grade for '14 while ranking at the top for targets per snap, completions per snap, and yards per snap.

What does he have to do? Become president? I honestly don't think it helps that he's so humble and quiet. Sherman got his attention because he was loud and let everyone know what he thought of himself. Jimmy would never do that

And in all honesty, I always hated playing with the Richard Sherman types.  I'd rather play with a guy like Jimmy. Never liked the chest beating types.

I didn't and still don't mind it on the field. If you get hyped up and keep it within reason (not Finnegan type), then cool.

However, I hate when they take it off the field and yell at fans and start twitter wars. That to me is classless and I hate it

As much as I love to bash Tomlin too, he was actually sending on the FG team and Ben waived him off.

So thank Ben for that stupid decision on their part.

How dumb is it going to look if he gets the first and they score? With an offense like that, they didn't really have reason to believe they couldn't get one yard

The amount if penalties still remains a serious point of worry for me

well if you take Kendrick Lewis out of the game, uhm, that's far less penalties AND perhaps fewer possessions for the opposing offense if he can keep his hands on the ball.

I will say, he's very active near the LoS and as a run defender. I think he gets a terrible rep because he isn't that single high safety, but he is very valuable to the run defense

I'v honestly seen him miss some tackles and early on in the year become a ghost against the run at times but since then he has improved in run defense.
