The Good, Bad, and Ugly from the Steelers Game

172 posts in this topic

Staying on topic, that sandwich looks good, bad, and ugly all in one.

It was quite the undertaking.

The burger it's self was the least enjoyable part.

Likely frozen. Really under seasoned.

The wings and the crab dip were quite good.

The good: The taste of the sandwich

The Bad: The Health effects and price

The Ugly: The after effects 24 hours after consuming said sandwich

That sandwich looks like something you're going to need to get triple bypass for after eating Edited by Cville-Raven

I mean we beat the steelers and that's always great. But I would have really liked it if Dallas and 49ers had also won and we could have maintained draft position as well. Lol

For as horrible as a season this is, we've had some great moments as well. Instead of forgetting about, I'll look back and remember this being the year of 3rd stringers sweeping Pittsburgh, walk off field goal block vs the Browns, 1 possession games in all but 2 blowouts vs Seattle & KC.

I'm happy that the young guys, even in a down year, got to really experience the rivalry.  We were out of the hunt, but those guys had something to fight for.  Found a potential back up as well.  PLEASE HANDLE YOUR BUSINESS, JETS!

Buck was blocking and fell to the ground doing so... I'm not sure any referee would count him as a receiver after he established himself as a blocker on his stomach

The Harrison call had full arm extension and he was stumbling forward losing his footing.

The intentional grounding seemed to be the right call, but have seen it go the other way under the same circumstances.  I have to say though that picking up the flag on Harrison seems unprecedented and inconsistent with what has been called on others. Saying he was blocked into Mallet is a huge(read BS) stretch.

Good: Suggs on the sideline.Offense was much more versatile than at anytime this season. No single receiver had more yards than all the rest combined. The offense spent more time on the field thus keeping the defense off. No interceptions or turnovers. Special teams contained a dangerous return man. The pass rush applied pressure and the CBs did a better than usual job overall. The after game interviews with a positive ending.

Bad: Penalties keep nullifying gains, sustaining opponent's drives and in the case yesterday, call back a touchdown. Secondary continues to create fouls and not search for the ball.

Ugly: The neutral zone penalty that cost an interception-TD to be nullified. It made me suddenly forget all other previous penalties.

I think Ryan Jensen could be a permanent starter. He has been pretty solid past several weeks.

We have one more yr left with him right?

Hell no, lol. As soon as Zuttah gets healthy we need to put John at LG.

I am a Ravens fan living in Cleveland and I am not real happy with this win it dropped us from 3 to 8 .

Reshuffle those priorities, sweeping the Steelers and hampering their playoff chances is always cause for celebration. Look at how the team responded, it mattered to them.

Great performance by Mallet and most of the offense was awesome. Defensively most of them played well. Worst performer on our side was easily Jensen. Upshaw's penalty was awful but I would still put Jensen above him.

What a damning loss for Pittsburgh. They had a win set up for them and still lost. Ben was awful.

The guy pro football focus ranked as the best player in his position for week 16..........

Ryan Jensen.........+7.4.

That is highest score for the Guards this week......in the NFL, sans MNF.

The unnecessary roughness call was for pancaking a guy...go figure that one out.

The false start....yep, that wasn't good.  Overall, I'd say he was solid.

I haven't read this entire thread but while there we're a decent number of Steelers fans there they were very quiet for most of the game. Honestly they had me wondering if they were all bandwagon fans because of how they cheered or really didn't for their team or against ours.

I don't remember Urshel being better than Jensen @ guard this season.

Wow, I score the OL tonight.  I hope the game was as good as they think.  A passing score at guard by my system is .70 after adjustment.  His scores the last 4 weeks have been:

StL: .57 F

Cleveland: .82 C

Miami: .36 F

Seattle: .81 C

The Miami game is close to the worst game I've ever scored for a guard and his aggregate play has been below the replacement level prior to Sunday.

I want to say I was a fan of PFF for the raw statistics their service used to provide (pressures, coverage targets, etc.).  However, since Collinsworth bought the controlling stake, the company has gone down a path of reduced transparency that is disappointing.

PFF's scoring by play (-2 to +2) has a fundamental flaw that treats pass and run blocking plays as of equivalent value.  Pass plays have the vast bulk of the leverage (effect on win probability) in this league, so combining run and pass block grades derived in this way doesn't work.

I still believe they represent the best anchor for broad OL analysis if you keep those grades separate.

PFF just rated Dumervil as the worst edge rusher of the week and Mosley was the worst MLB in the league this week also.

Top performers:

LG Ryan Jenson (+7.4)

ROLB Courtney Upshaw (+3.1)

QB Ryan Mallett (+1.5)

CB Shareece Wright (+1.5)

CB Lardarius Webb (+1.2)

Hill only got 29 snaps...

Yeah. I was in section 125 and I was literally surrounded by them.

The six in front of me never even stood up.

There was a couple behind me that were fairly active though.

Overall they were real quite when our offense was out there.

They probably were bandwagon fans.

I was in section 138 and had quite a few around me. They weren't very active though and rarely stood up

Depending on how things work out on Sunday, the Ravens might be able to say that their first and last wins of the season came against Pittsburgh.

The only true opinion that matters, no matter who you are, is Ozzie, Harbs, and Castillo.  If he's out there, its because he is the best man for the job.  I watched some horrific line play this season.  I would say this guy is on the rise.  Osemele propped him on Twitter as well.  He's out there doing the work alongside Jensen, so I would say he knows a thing or two about good line play.

Thanks for your thoughts! :D  :baltimore-ravens:

err....didn't he get flagged holding?  Urschel will beat out Zuttah.  I think Urschel - Jensen - Osemele looks pretty good!
