Ryan Mallett is the most confident QB that has ever lined up for the Ravens!

And the backup QB hate has begun.....right on cue!

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. You had to know this was coming the minute a few people started proclaiming Mallett the greatest thing since sliced bread based on one game. Sadly, some people can't compliment one player's performance without disparaging another player's.

I liked Mallet in this game, and think he's a unique talent with great skills. However, a QB has to have the calmness of mind and singularity of purpose and deep respect for the game to be a top notch QB starter in this league. Mallet hasn't proven that he has that yet. In fact, so far it has been the contrary.

So, we'll wait and see how he behaves as a primary back up to Joe.  But let me state this unequivocally.  I'm near certain that Flacco will be the QB of this team for the next 8-10 yrs without an iota of doubt in my mind. He'll win us a couple more SBs and then retire into the sunset as the Ravens greatest offensive player alongside J.O. Just know it.

Joe Flacco = Eli Manning. Gotta take the good with the bad. Eli might be a tad better.

Errr, yeah, except Eli has some bonafide stars at receiver (or has had). Joe... well...

Of course!  Typical response to our backup QB if he gets any acknowledgment for doing his job.  Sad!

I doubt we'd trade Flacco, but for the sake of the question...I'd say a first and second round pick would easily be the starting point for trading Flacco. Palmer got a similar trade offer for the Bengals from the Raiders, so I would guess we'd get that as a minimum and possibly more.

I'd take it in a heartbeat

Hey I said he had a nice little game....1 game. Fans are FANATICAL...they go overboard and i have to reel them back....i keep things in perspective and base things in logic and what is real.

the week before no ravens fan wanted Mallet on the team, the organization was being ripped for bringing him in and many others just wanted it to end already..for next season to start...its just crazy to me thats all

Eh c'mon now. The Flacco haters came out in force first from ONE GAME that wasn't even statistically that great. Acting like he threw for 5 TDs or something. This is what happens when they start with the Start the back-up chant based on nothing and trade Flacco crap.

Mallet did very well for 12 days of prep but it is funny to me that he had all those overthrown passes that the Flacco haters scream about but somehow did not see here. How his TD pass was a lob way high and Matthews jumped for it and made a grab , but Mallet is the best thing since sliced bread.

Don't hate Mallet and hope he continues to show promise because it will be nice to know iwe're not doomed iif Flacco goes down for any length of time and at the very least, have a chance to win a couple games with the back-up QB.

Who were the other star receivers? Hakeem Nicks was falling off in NY before he even left the team, so do not try to use him.

I wouldn't call Toomer decent (you wouldn't know who he was outside of his helmet catch), but the others have been very good playmakers in the past for the Giants

Pretty sure Toomer is amongst the top receivers ever to play for that franchise, a star since before Eli, and he wasn't even the one who made the helmet catch.

I was thinking of Tyree. I got corrected there. My mistake. It's been a few years and I'm pretty sure I was in sixth grade when that catch happened.

Speaking of Toomer, though, his stats dropped off from 1,000 yards a season and seven eight touchdowns to like 700 yards and three touchdowns as soon as Eli was drafted.

you said Eli has had bonafide recievers lol so I don't know what your arguing. But, Plaxico Burress, Toomer, Nicks does count, Victor Cruz.

You said that they fell off in production when they left New York, which isn't really true. I'm saying Eli has had the benefit of playing with some really great receivers to really bring up his stats and mask some deficiencies.

Add in OBJ for the past 2 years and Eli has had a group tons better than Joe. I think many discount how little Flacco has had to work with saying he should "make those around him better". I think he's done extremely well with limited resources. Can't help but wonder what he could accomplish if given a couple of guys like Brown, Julio, Jordy,  OBJ, etc..

But I digress......... how about that Mallett!   lol

At Least Mallet can scramble for yards when everyone is covered by a defender. Flacco just sits there takes a sack and lose yardage then we gotta punt and didn't get anything out of that series. The whole idea if everyone is covered run make something positive out of it we might get in field goal position and that adds points and might be an beneifit down the road

You do realize Flacco has 3 rushing TDs and rushed for 6 1st downs this season right? And Mallet did not gain any rushing yds at all right?

So much hate. Hence the name of this thread.

Yeah so much hate.  Cause thread titles have nothing to do with what posters say in the thread.

Flacco is what he is.  We've seen him perform for 7 years now.  His good, his bad and his ugly!  As a result, some fans love him and others hate him regardless of his past accomplishments or achievements.

I can appreciate Mallett's ability to be able to come in on short notice and play fairly well against our arch-rivals on Sunday without feeling that he should start over Flacco.  And just because Flacco is the man in Baltimore neither do I feel a need to constantly trash Mallett.  Can't we all just get along?  lol

lol Now c'mon. You know how this goes no matter who the back-up QB. They complete one pass or win one game and it is time to bench Flacco and/or trade him, he's overpaid, he's the reason the defense is crap, etc etc etc. I'm surprised some don't blame Flacco when their car doesn't start in the morning.

Then the reaction to the ridiculous is for the defenders to defend. Just like Flacco is what he is, apparently so is this fanbase.

Again, I can appreciate our backup (whoever he may be) that does his job when needed without calling for Flacco's head.  While at the same time, not feeling a need to dog out our backup cause Joe's the man!  That's called balance!
