They do have a point though. We've all won and lost close ones because of bad calls. These last 2-3 years the officiating has been horrible and it sucks when a good game comes down to a refs call. Again, we've ALL been affected by it. If the refs blew the call on that play clock, then so be it. That roughing the passer in the regular season was BS too.

On one hand, it's true. The Titans were all over us last night on both sides of the ball, they moved the ball, we didn't. And, we caught some breaks, had some luck, gods were on our side, whatever.

On the other hand, this was a team that has played every weekend since early September, on a short week, going on the road with a rookie coach and QB against the team with the best record in the NFL.

To my mind, I think the Titans took full advantage of their extra time to prepare for the Ravens blitz. You could see they picked up the blitz very well. Not too surprising given they had plenty of time to prepare and the Ravens didn't have time to add any wrinkles. Notice the D looked quite a bit sharper in the 3rd quarter once they started dropping back into coverage more.

Exactly. We've really been playing football for 19 straight weeks. They've had a regular season Bye, a post season bye and rested their starters in the last two games, where we had to go full tilt. Along with the second most injured roster in the league (no surprise given our lack of rest). And the Titans fans claim that they were cheated because the ball was snapped a fraction of a second too late? Pathetic.

easly, thats the word I describe how the Titans moved the ball on offense.
BUT
It the final score that counts, and with 3 turnovers, your not going to win to many games that way.

I agree the D wasn't doing what it was supposed to before they got to the redzone.

To be honest, if I was tennessee's coach, I would have started kicking field goals once they entered the redzone, regardless of down. It was getting to the point where numerous Titans could have been investigated for match fixing.

Agreed!! At this point I think our lack of rest is our greatest opponent. I'm banking on the Raven's character and Destiny to make us SB champs!! :D :D

I am new to this board and this is my first post so I'm sorry if this has been said before but what if this happened on the delay of game call:

Ravens get the snap off, and the titans stop them sending it to forth down. However, a late flag gets thrown for delay of game, a penalty the titans cannot decline. So now its 3rd and 7. Then the Ravens get a first down and still drive and win the game. My question is: Would the Titan fans still be complaining about the delay of game call saying they should have had a right to decline it? My guess is yes.

It was a presnap penalty. Offsides I think. It kind of happened to us early this season to vs. Tenn. of all teams. They had the presnap penalty but the refs didnt blow the play dead soon enough and Suggs "roughed" Kerry Collins. Our penalty took priority over theirs even though, nothing after their penalty should have counted.

On the other hand as far as the Titans go, I wonder if they would still be complaining if one of their players had intercepted that ball or Heap fumbled and the Titans recovered. Would they still be so angry and believe that one call changed that game?

Assuming that the Titans and whoever wants to vent about the missed delay of game call on us prior to the Heap catch finds its way to the brass of the NFL I was thinking it may be a good thing if the league lays the hammer down calling it throughout the rest of the playoffs.
Why? Two words
BIG JEN!!!

I cannot tell you how many times this season I've sat watching their games and both my dad and myself calling the refs out on this because dude always runs out the play clock.
With that being said please do enforce this thoroughly starting today zebras

When it counts after the first titans match (Terrell Suggs) and then steelers (Jarret Johnson) and the other one on the Santonio Holmes td. WOOOO it feels good to not get called on by the refs and you know what all you titan fans can read my post because there aint a damn thing you can do about it to reverse the call. Fell our pain. Plus i just want to say that wasn't the game changer it was the fumble, in, and the other fumble. So good luck titans.

This issue was explained in detail on the NFL Network last night. Here is how it works.

As the play clock counts down, the official watches the clock. When it reaches zero, he looks to see if the ball has been snapped. That gives a TINY amount of time more than what shows on the clock for the ball to be snapped. It is consistent from game to game. That is why fans are always yelling about Delay of Game not being called.

BTW, for those that think the actual time was kept on the field, please check out the following:

Digest of Rules Main

Timing
The stadium game clock is official. In case it stops or is operating incorrectly, the Line Judge takes over the official timing on the field.
Each period is 15 minutes. The intermission between the periods is two minutes. Halftime is 12 minutes, unless otherwise specified.
On charged team time outs, the Field Judge starts watch and blows whistle after 1 minute 50 seconds, unless television does not utilize the time for commercial. In this case the length of the time out is reduced to 40 seconds.
The Referee will allow necessary time to attend to an injured player, or repair a legal player

I KNEW THIS THREAD WAS GOING TO COME UP.... okay I am going to end a lot of this conversation in this one post... For one this happens EVERY year.... during the Miami game it happened to us... the Pitts

game it happened almost every play on one drive... but this is the problem with the delay of game penalty.... the refs need to check the play clock in the stadium then their watch to make sure its correct

then throw the flag. Flacco had a delay of game penalty and didnt hike the ball until about 1 sec after the clock hit 0 so in 1 sec they need to do those 3 things.

O yeah and for all you Titans fans reading this... that delay of game penalty is the last thing you should be whining and crying about... the real reason you lost it because every time you were in the red zone

you turned the ball over!

<no need to taunt>

Just for the Titan fans I realize the clock hit zero but like they said there is that 1 second delay from when they look at the clock to the ball example Giants game just now the clock hit zero and the ball was not snaped! So stop acting like you guys got the bad end of the stick some of those holding calls you guys got wern't called there 10 yards not 5

According to NFL Rules (see above), the stadium clock is offical time. No need to check his watch to verify it unless you have a different reference someplace.

Doesn't really matter in this game anyway. It's not why the Titan's lost!! B)

Flags against us, that the MEDIA and opposing fans dont raise hell about:

Week 4, Personal Foul, Baltimore
Week 5, Roughing the passer, Tennesse
Week 17, Delay of Game, Jacksonville
Week 18, Delay of Game, Miami
(not a flag) Controversial Call vs Pitt

Now where are all those NFL fans for those calls?

Tennesse I hope you enjoy the delay of game call, and feel our pain. Everytime I say something to a titan fan about the Suggs call in week 5, they tell me stop making excuses. Now Titans I hope you enjoy your off season and dont make too many excuses ! : )

Exactly. And I think it was a call in the Raiders game similar to the controversial call against Pittsburgh where the officials gave Oakland a touchdown when it looked like the ball didn't cross the goal line. The fact of the matter is, the referees are the ones that made the mistakes not the ravens. But from the media and other teams fans perspectives, every time the ravens win, it's always with a abstract next to it. The first knock on us was the ravens haven't beat a team with a winning record, even though we took every top team we played down to the wire. So we beat the eagles. But the media excuse for us winning was because the eagles really wasn't a good team(at the time we beat them)and that Andy Reid and McNabb was done in Philly. So then we beat the redskins who was a pretty good team at the time, but everyone discredit that win by saying Washington was a bad team that was overachieving, and the Jim Thorn, Portis beef only added to the excuses. So the ravens beat the cowboys in the last game at Texas stadium but all the media can talk about is how dysfunctional Dallas was, and that they really aren't as talented as everyone perceive them to be. Come to find out, we beat four teams without losing records and now we have beaten the number one seed in the AFC and all the media and titans fans can talk about is how the refs blunder a call and that's the reason why Baltimore beat Tennessee. Yet most of our losses is because of controversial calls that the media barely whispered about. Baltimore gets no respect from no one other then it's city and fans. So when it's all said and done the titans fans a long with the media can cry all they want because regardless of what they think, the ravens are on their way to the AFC Championship game to play the steelers or the chargers. I think the Chargers is going to win this game because they match up well with Pittsburgh, and they could give them some problems. But who ever we play next week I hope we win so we can be one game closer to silencing the haters who doubt the Ravens are legit. Let's go Ravens!
