[News] Late For Work 12/23: Untold Story Behind Super Bowl Blackout

44 posts in this topic

It isn't about the actual Pro Bowl game per say, it is more about the national recognition the players get by being selected by the fans, coaches and their peers.Ā Ā Ā To be recognized as one of the best at your position, especially on a broader national stage exposes them to a wider audience than their immediate homeĀ fan base and local media.Ā  That national recognition from a Pro Bowl selection helps to buildĀ aĀ players resume, garners them more exposure to national media, and can propel these players for future honors and selections like DPOY, ROY, HOF, etc.Ā Ā  The players consider this as one of the honors of their profession and for good reason.Ā

Ā

Just a thought for perspective,Ā as fans I wish we would take voting for Pro Bowl nominations a little more seriouslyĀ by helping our players get more national exposureĀ to help our players solidify and build theirĀ resume's for future honors like the HOF.Ā As a pool of national media membersĀ ARE the ones that vote for HOF'ers, in the long run, it really does matter.Ā The Pro Bowl has a lot more meaning andĀ future ramifications to players careers and legaciesĀ than just playing in an all star game, just sayin'!

It's official: The bandwagon fans are restless again. Yes the Ravens are not as talented as they have been in recent years but there is reason to be optimistic for the future. This is a new beginning to a next generation Ravens team in a pass happy league. Ravens will be much improved by next season for these reasons. Flacco will re-structure his contract to keep both Yanda and K.O. Monroe's streak of injuries cannot last forever plus K.O. can handle tackle as needed with Hurst steeping in guard (where he is much more solid). Perriman will be on the field next year and even just bringing a deep threat will be enough to start the year. Aiken has shown to be a #2 wr on any team with room to grow still. After that I would keep either Butler or Campanaro for depth. I don't count on SSR returning, and draft Laquon Treadwell or other immediate impact WR with 1st/2nd pick of draft. The rest of offense is in great shape once healthy again. Defense is in desperate need a of coverage safety (draft pick #1/2). This cannot be more important. Look at the number of big plays and it's obvious. Once the back end is secured, our current CB's will be much improved knowing they can play more aggressively and tighter. It will also force Qb's to hold the ball a bit longer, giving our the D front to get to the QB more often. After that a solid disruptor/pass rusher rounds(3-4). Suggs and Dummervil as still solid players, but won't be around forever. They could both benefit from slightly less reps to stay fresher through an entire game. Final point is too many people expect every highly drafted player to be HoF material due to the early success of this franchise. Recent drafts have may not have been as memorable as ealier drafts in franchise history but some solid quality players have been drafted and will become more evident in the next 2 years. Even judging some of the players is difficult merely due to a seemingly abnormal rash of injuries. This season was a Youth Movement for the Ravens. Many of the leaders in recent days are no longer around, some due to injury. The growth from the youngsters this year will pay big dividends moving forward and I for one do not question the fight, compete, determination of heart of this team.

They act like the Hawks are and have been this leading team for years and years...yet are barely making it week to week to get wild card, lol, smh. I'm not easily discouraged I just wait for my team to be on top again...I can wait :D

Ā

Their team is better than and blew out ours.

So 3 years after our Super Bowl victory there is an article and a 60 minutes about how the 34 minutes power outage went down?? lol, come on brah, you know it was VEGAS who ordered this. Right after Jacoby returned the kickoff, they were like: "Mayday Mayday, this Ravens team is killin us right now!! Shut the lights off brah, this is getting outta control." and boom, it happened and the 49ers came back. Just what the doctor ordered. Cheers!

Well, they've easily been the best football team on the planet for the last two seasons, and they clinched a playoff spot in week 15, which is nothing to sneeze at.

Ā

They have earned the right to gloat certainly.

They did not win the Super Bowl last season so its hard to say theĀ "Ā best football team on the planet for the last two seasons"Ā Ā but they were definitely good and could have and should have won but did not and ultimately the best team is the one who walks away with the Lombardy. Just like the year the Patriots went 16-0 regular season then got beat by the Giants in the Super Bowl The Giants were the best team that year because they walked away with the Lombardi and the hardware on their fingers to prove it.Ā  I am Just saying. But yes mcjacket23 they have earned the right to gloat for sure and are a darn good football team.

LOL It also came right when we got them in a 3rd and long situation if I remember correctly we had them on the ropes for sure.

Bookies were all over that game, plus the league office doesn't like the Ravens. Notice you see everybody elses' team, players, jersey or something in national commercials EXCEPT the Ravens. Even after the Super Bowl Joe Flacco had to share a McDonald's commercial with the losing quarterback. The only other Raven to get national commercial attention was Ray Lewis.

I think Marlon Brown hasn't been added to the IR yet because "sucking" is not an eligible injury

Marlon has the potiental to be great for us but he is lacking the confidence that he needs. Who knows that could change this offseason and he could put up crazy numbers next year and all you people talking down about him will be finally giving him the credit he deserves.

Default factory settings. LMAO. At least respect the fans enough to come up with a believable lie.

Switchgear breakers do have adjustable settings to account for surges in current.... Sort of a hierarchy to keep an order to account for excessive current loads. For example: if you have to breakers, one 400 amp breaker and one upstream is a 500 amp breaker, they are, load wise, too similar and may trip together, creating havoc. We had a very similar issue at the hospital where the electrical contractor did not follow their own contracted study and did not "set" the switchgear breakers correctly. Until the correct settings were in place, we had operating rooms and essential equipment affected by shorts in lighting circuits.

So, it is "possible" he is telling the truth about hisĀ "hit in the gut" feeling. We may never know if it was because of a breaker setting or an order from above.

And this opinion is based off what exactly? He hasn't done anything for two years. With all of our injuries on offense this year, now would be the perfect time for him to take advantage of the situation. He has not. Kamar Aiken has risen to the challenge and has improved each week. Marlon Brown has not.
