[News] Turnovers Tell The Story Of Ravens' Season

25 posts in this topic

I thought the excuse was injuries? Instead of Super Bowl this year I think they really meant Toilet Bowl. Ravens are going into the Toilet Bowl.

It is much more than that. The Ravens simply do not have the talent to win in games where they commit turnovers. They have no play makers and no leadership. The fault lies with Newsome for his awful drafts, beginning in 2009. Since then he has blown top draft choices on mediocre players. The coaching stinks too. Doubt it? Tell me then why Michael Ohr and Jah Reid, neither of whom were worth a good crap here, are now flourishing in the tackle roles with Carolina and Kansas City? Maybe its the weather. Lets here some more excuses for Newsome and Harbaugh. That will fix things.

I agree with you Fastynart... I read today Mr. Harbaugh said that the QB played a good game. Guess he missed the terrible overthrows to wide open receivers on at least two (maybe 3) occasions, and few other 'head scratching' throws. QB has no 'touch' either. I am also so tired of hearing how well we played after all these losses. strong consideration buy the owner has to be given to new coaches, and some soul searching about our drafting process. It seems Ozzie isn't such a genius after all. Guess we can't believe everything we read and hear...

Defensive backs that make interceptions look like they know where they're suppose to be in coverage our DB's look lost in space and can't play zone to save their lives. Either all our backs went to trash or the secondary coach is coaching trash. I see DB's on other teams covering one man and with awareness slide under another route and snatch it or back pedal enough to quickly react to an out route and jump it. I just don't believe that we don't have the talent, I believe we don't have the right coaches from top to bottom.

Turnovers started with joe.....2-3 a game...it just never ends, and for harbaugh to set his qb level of play so low its no wonder we are where we are......

Hopefully when the speedy Perriman gets on the field he'll be able to catch the DB's who intercept the passes before they can score.

did you just use "speedy" and "perriman" in the same paragraph?...I missed how speedy he was this year and doubt he's ever going to pan out now that he's had a year off(with a fat paycheck) to practice his....uh   speed?...smh

its time to be realistic and look forward to next springs draft and to hope that the Ravens pick the best player when they pick, in the top 5.

The story of this years Ravens - ground hogs day. Another mindless call like Harbs decision to go for it on 4th and 9 deep in their own territory, Another dumb penalty by defense, another 2 INT QB performance, another player on IR, and another press conference full of excuses. I love my team, but sometimes I wonder if Harbs is in denial. If the Steelers roll into M&T and light it up , maybe Harbs and OZ will realize how far behind the Ravens are sinking in the AFC North.

Turnovers the story of the season....wwll before Joe got injured....

Blame Trestman.....

He is allergic to the run game. Every game just about Flacco threw it 40 plus times...leaving the defense out to dry, and losingbtime of possession battle.

Thats not Raven Football.

Running 25 times a game, so Joe only has to pass 30-35x...and winning time of possession and keeping defense fresh and ready..

Thats Ravens football

Ciaching totally failed in that this year

Ravens can't even come up with a good uniform. John said they worked on that for a year when they should have been working on better draft picks. Next they will have the team come out of the tunnel in a clown cars.

All of this complaining is getting old. we all know what has happened and blaming everything and everybody is repetitive. we all now the contributing factors and they are numerous. Bad officiating, injuries, lack of discipline on the field, turnovers, player talent, and questionable coaching decisions and ineffective game plans and play calling on both offense and defense. I realized back in JAN '83 when Irsay stole the Colts and took them to INDY that the NFL was not a sport any longer. It's a money making business and the fan feeds the kitty. They know it and they don't care if you are a happy fan or not. There are thousands throughout the league waiting to grab a PSL and season tickets when a fan has decided that he has had enough. Football is now just like the movies. It's entertainment. If you are not happy with it, find a new hobby. Win or lose , each week life goes on for all of us regardless. The Ravens are having a bad season and we all need to realize it happens to all teams at some point. We have won 2 SuperBowls in 12 years and made the playoffs more than any other team in that period. Relish that accomplishment. The Ravens will be back in the hunt before you know it and this year will be forgotten in the blink of an eye. That is how this fan is looking at it. I actually predicted back in AUG that Flacco would incur an injury that would sideline him for part of the season. We all know what would happen if that did occur. I also felt that a 7-9 record was in the cards after watching the pre-season games. It's called reality folks. Face it.

Harbs is definitely in denial and I've pointed this out before.  Until now, he's never had a losing season or has had to deal with this much catastrophe on all levels (significant injuries, losing your durable starting QB, horrible refs, players committing numerous stupid penalties, you name it) .  It's like he doesn't know what to do.  As for going for it on 4th and 9 in our own red zone, it was pretty stupid and unnecessary given the score and point in the game.  But I guess Harbs said to himself, "What the heck?  The season is over I might as well try something stupid on special teams."  The worst part is there are fans on here that are defending that decision.  SMH  Anyways, I think the whole organization has lost its way since the SB and since losing legendary players like Ray Ray and Ed Reed.

Part of the problem is the Ravens often can't get anything going with the run game early on.  I've seen several times in a game where opposing defensive players are getting into the backfield to stop run plays before Flacco could even hand the ball off dag on near...

Another thing is our offensive rarely seems to get going until the 2nd half.  Our defense usually does a good job with keeping opposing offenses from running away with the game early on, but by the time our offense gets going the D loses steam and so we have to constantly play from behind.  When you're in a play from behind situation all the time, it usually dictates a lot of passing to gain greater yards vs. trying to run when we've had little success at it in the first place.

Valid points... although I'm pretty sure the Pats went to the playoffs more times than any other team in that span between our two SB wins.  We might be 2nd or 3rd but we have not gone the most.

Baller, you are right about the PATS. I forgot that they seem to be in the post season so often. I always pull for the team that they play then and hope that they go down. But, you cannot overlook them no matter what. Looking forward to the day that Brady hangs it up. We will see how that works out for them then. Still cannot count at the team as long as Belicheck is the coach. Like him or hate him he is successful even if he does push the edge each year with his innovation.
