What changes do you want to see for next year? (Merged)

  • Offense to average over 30 points per game
  • Flacco to throw for over 4500 yards
  • Defense to be top 5 in takeaways

The only important stat regarding flacco is INTs in my opinion. Look at Cutler. The guy has more 4k Yard seasons but also lot´s of INTs. I want Flacco to cut down the mistakes.

He is in his prime now and from my point of view sometimes still making rookie mistakes...

There is less and less excuse with increased calibre of receivers available. Perriman will be excellent down the field, his size and speed should negate some of those under throw interceptions.

That being said, he does make some hair brain passes at times where we all scratch our heads. Hope he can cut down on those.

Do you watch other teams/QBs play?

sure. why are you asking?

I know that all of them make mistakes but some of the flacco ones are just so boneheaded...

so you want us to draft a WR early?

from what I´ve seen so far only aiken is somewhat starting material besides SSS and nobody knows how he will look like coming back from the serious injury...

He does make boneheaded mistakes, and if you watch all of them make boneheaded mistakes, including Rogers, Manning, etc.. I just think we are sometimes hyper critical of our own players because they are the ones we watch every play, every game and we want them to be the best at what they do.

A dominant offense please. I feel that we're inching closer to that. I don't want us to ignore the defense but with the improvements we've made the second half of the season, I think we're a few pieces away from this being a good defense, but man I think its time for this offense to seriously explode.

I'm uncertain, I would love to add to the offensive weapons we have available. Very few teams will beat us if we are consistently scoring 30-35 points per game, which I think we aren't too far away from being to do with Perriman/Smith/Aiken/Gillmore/Williams - imagine another elite WR on the outside opposite Perriman!

That being said, I'm also in the corner of drafting Ramsey or Alexander. Our secondary will be very good then, with Smith, a returning Davis and Webb moved to the more suited free safety. Wright also impressed me once he familiarised with system.

Yeah, give me a running game that can average 4.5ypc and another decent receiver and I think that's a genuinely competitive roster. It'd be a similar build to the Cowboys or even the Steelers, or what the Packers wanted to do before Lacy imploded. It means we'd be equipped for shootouts and we could run the clock out if we had to (giving the defence less time to give up a late go-ahead score). The main difference is that our front seven is more dynamic than those other sides, so I think we could make plenty of defensive plays too.

Of course you take a closer look when it is about your team. considering the many changes that Joe had to deal with since he is here, he did fine from my point of view. we all know what he is able to do in january. never the less do I see room for improvement especially when it comes to fundamentals...

I am a huge Flacco fan and think that he is the best QB for our system. Does this mean that one should´t ask for improvement?

I'll add two more changes to the huge list of changes we want to see next season (if it hasn't been said already):

1. Beating the Bengals (sweeping them would be nice since all the last 4 games have been close)

2. WINNING THE DIVISION. Seems like forever since we've done that (2012).

Strength and conditioning coaches should be sacked. Pees needs another place. Trestman needs creativity.Devise schemes to  punch the ball in when in the red zone.  The secondary needs better coverage schemes.Bring back Mallett and Renner. Discard Elam.Give us better cheaper beer at M & T. Never allow another Miami fiasco to ever occur Again ( Promise termination after a game such as that happens-It was the worst sports event I ever witnessed). Get rid of that annoying 7 nation chant and replace it with Stevie Ray Vaughn or Lynrd Skynrd. Expand these forum topics into overall NFL discussions.Spammers who come in here should be policed. and...........Keep the same cheerleaders

Do not allow Ozzie to strike any more contract deals for anyone, ever, on the Ravens.  His 'deals' will cause a 2-3 year slide in the Raven's W-L record because we can not get out from cap hits til 2017 at least, if not '18.  Insane.

We are BY FAR the worst team in the league when it comes to contracts.  BY FAR.  Who gave Suggs his deal?  Smith?  Webb?  Pitta?  These will hurt us for time to come, with almost zero production from any of them

No, yeah I'm with ya.

Sorry, I get a little defensive because some here don't seem to understand that even the best sometime make mistakes that make you scratch your head.

This post gets full endorsement due to mentioning both beer and cheerleaders in the same paragraph.    :D

Extra credit for the Stevie Ray!

I got one more change: let's start the season off 1-0. We haven't done so since Ray and Ed left.

Actual talent on the field so people can stop thinking the coordinators are the reason units are bad.  I'd swear most people forget what Rex's 2007 defense looked like with a lack of talent.  And I still can't believe Trestman gets crucified when you look at the offensive depth chart.

So yeah, that'd be the biggest change to me

+1

We were 8th in total yards allowed, 10th in passing yards allowed and 12th in rushing yards allowed, despite losing the team's best pass rusher in week 1.  There IS a lack of talent in the secondary, but that's not the DC or other defensive coaches' fault - Ozzie and company are more to blame, the coaches work with the talent that they're provided (outside of Harbaugh, who does have significant influence over who's brought in).  A lack of turnovers - the turnover ratio of (-14) is somewhat to blame, but it comes down to talent, just as Purple City said.

Many fans are calling for Pees' head, but if another Defensive Coordinator comes in, and the defense is below 8th in yards allowed... will he be solely to blame?

Changing coaches is not always the solution, when the lack of talent is the problem, not the defensive scheme...

More playmakers.

Flacco extension and Tucker/KO re-sign.

Lewis playing FS for the Bengals.

A healthy team.

More takeaways and more tds.

More team specific gameplans.

Less punting and TOs.

...more of Trestmans daughters

Just had to Google them. Very happily married for 10 years, but Chloe is gorgeous. And not like creeper on the internet gorgeous, but the high standards I tend to have gorgeous.

Better role players. We have our foundation. But they're only as good as the rest of the building around them.

Us: CJ , Dumervil, Jernigan, Williams, Jimmy, Hill

Look at Carolina. They have Luke K, Thomas Davis, Josh Norman,  Kawann Short, Kurt Coleman. Those are their foundation.

Six Guys. Just like us. Sure. Luke and Davis are better than CJ(not by much though), and Norman is a better corner than Jimmy(though both are #1s when Jimmy is healthy). Coleman like Hill is a very good FS. Kawann is a better pass rusher than Jernigan or Williams, but Williams is also one of league's best DTs. Just saying. He's the most underrated player in the league imo. And Dumervil when properly arrested will also put up double digit sack numbers. We have a core that's very similar to them.

But what's the difference between us and them?

They have Star L(a very good player), Shaq Tomphson and AJ Klein are both good LBs, Tillman is better than any #2 corner we have and Mario Addison, Ealy, Allen, Edwards, and Charles Johnson can all rush the passer as well as stop the run.

That's why that defense is good. They have the core of high impact guys plus a good supporting cast.

We lack that. We have a few potential additions. Carl Davis and ZDS mainly. But otherwise. Daryl if he stays moves into the higher level. Then we got Lawerence Guy, Shareece Wright, and Webb.

I'll take the Panther's personnel.

We don't need studs. We've got the core. It's a damn good start. We need the rest of the team. A #2 Corner, another edge rusher. Potentially another MLB. A few more situational pass rushers maybe? The defense will become that much better.

Also, I'd like to have more speed on both sides of the ball. Offensively with Perriman we would have more, but it wouldn't hurt to have more. I really hope we find something to do for Arthur Brown, maybe he plain sucks but we need athleticism with the linebackers. We need speed and coverage there. I'm stating the obvious here but its something we really need.

Posters to stop using YARDS in anything as a measure of the D. Only other thing Ill add. Yards mean absolutely zero. Do Yards score and win or lose a game? Do they give you wins? No. So guys cmon. Stop. Use points, turnover differential, red zone percentage and 3rd down efficiency. Point in fact. Does anyone know what the 2000 Ravens D yards per game was? Nope. Noone gives a damn. They were #1 in history for POINTS per game though. So please for you mellinials. Stop saying yards. Thats like saying Algebra in HS matters. Lol.

Indeed. I'd like to add Brooks as well, but I wonder if he'll ever get a chance.

I don't know if Brooks will get a shot unless he is forced into the lineup. Webb looks to be our starting safety, and Lewis seems to be the one who could be cut soon, I can't say for sure since his cap hit is so cheap so you would like to have him compete for Brooks for the back-up job.

I think it was you (I think it was you) and I talking about how excited he was to return that blocked field goal for a TD @ MIA only for it to get negated by a penalty. Gosh we need speed.
