[News] Kamar Aiken Has A Career Day ... In One Half

28 posts in this topic

Aiken is balling... that hail mary touchdown was epic. He made good adjustment to get to the ball. If only Torrey had done that last year in NE in the playoffs :-)

Aiken has played pretty good this year but I still think he is an #3 WR at best.

I think he's played well too, but I think he's ready to be #2 WR...AND he's getting better all the time with this experience.

Steve Smith just said he he would come back in 2016.  With him in the slot and Aiken on the outside with Perriman/Givens they could be formidable once again.

Yes you make a great point and not to talk bad or hurt Aiken I still really hope we get someone else as a #2 guy and have him as a #3 guy maybe Perriman can be the player Oz thought he was going to be when he picked him in the first Or Oz decides to get another one some time in this years draft. Aiken has been better but I just still see him as a #3.

That could be the Ravens play of the year.

Now here is how a true 'Raven' talks and plays. No bluster just work. That is Kamar Aiken morphing into the 'Raven' we all want to talk about here.

I must disagree... Aiken is looking like 2007 Randy Moss, hands of gold mittens. I reckon Aiken is a future Hall of Famer

He would make a great #3 WR

Aiken has proven that he belongs. Perriman is just another in a long list of blown high draft picks made by Newsome. I don't know where his head is. He picks Perriman, a suspect receiver from a mid level program. Then his mysterious "knee injury" keeps him out the whole year. Another Kindle. Keep him on the roster until people forget how dumb this pick was, then quietly make some lame excuse to get rid of him. Elam will go down the same road.

Kamar Aiken would make a really good 3rd WR for this team. Let's not forget that even on his career day - he still needed that "lucky" (you know what I mean) Hail Mary TD catch to crack 100 yards. Take that away and he has 80 yards on his career day. Keep in mind this is with him being the primary target for our team. I like Aiken, Butler, and Daniel Brown. And please - for my sanity - can we just cut Marlon Brown already?

I like what Aiken has been doing. To be honest, when Steve went down, I thought Aiken would disappear completely because I thought he would be shut out by teams considering he was about the only weapon we had left. He has stepped up big time for us. He has proven he can be a solid #2 or 3, and I believe that's exactly what he will be next year. If we could get a receiving core to actually stay healthy, we could be okay. Steve Smith Sr., Aiken, Perriman, Campanaro, then Givens, Butler, or Brown as the #5. But we do need to add an additional WR.

I will be the first to eat my words and I would hope the pundits like Preston, Davis, Laird, Norris, Cerrato, Rob Long and the rest of the "ex-spurts" that claimed he was nothing but a stopgap journeyman, would do the same. Of course, you never will hear that but congrats to Aiken who is showing what a real team player is and doesn't hobble to the sidelines after not being able to catch a running back and claim a pulled hammy. Just to add that's twice that J Smith has done that. He was "hobbled" after being beat on a double move earlier this year where he had to run to catch up. I have an idea. Lets not play J Smith until he can run 50 yards at full speed and not hurt himself. What a waste of money.

I have no idea why so many people like givens, I'm sorry but I just don't see it. We traded away what 2 picks to get that kind of production? How many total yards does he have so far? And what , 1 touchdown? I can't see him being on the team next year unless he lights it up in camp or something. Id trade him back away for a 7th round pick, if anybody would even bite which I doubt.

I think he was more so referring to him being a possession type chain mover who goes after and fights for the ball. Obviously he's not on Steves level. Edited by January J

The sad part is that his play is likely going to get him paid with someone else next season. It's still nice to see an undrafted guy do well.

We will see how true he is to his word... he said he wants to return to the team that gave him a legitimate shot to make the team... and not only did he make the team but he's come on strong this season and prove that he should be in the game plan moving forward regardless of who is here... we need not get caught up in the fact that he was un-drafted and look at his current body of work.. its no secret who is getting the lion share of the targets and yet week after week he has been steady... no disclaimers needed... no yet but to attach to the end of any comment.. if he can steadily improve as he has and carry over his momentum into next season.. he can be a nice building piece moving forward... Also in the conversation of players as building blocks moving forward JB should also be in that conversation... in fact I think he should take over for Givens... I like the guy... but he struggles on the outside... I like him more at attacking the seams... with Flacco out and Jimmy and Matt whose arms can't even come close....he isn't as effective... he drops way to many passes... JB appears to have better hands... and is a load to bring down... he usually has to be gang tackled... If Perriman is what they think he can be... Kamar can win one on one... Crock and the other TE's ...Forsett and the RB's... along with Juice... we should be straight with playmakers... if there is a dynamic under the radar wideout in the later rounds of the Antonio Brown variety we jump on him wideout is the least of our concerns... with a banged up offense we still put up nearly 400 yds...

I think:

1) he was a traded for a 7th round pick when he was a selected by the Rams in the 4th.  So, good value and totally appropriate production for a 7th rounder especially when considering....

2) there has been no consitent pass attack since Flacco went down and even then it wasn;t exactly Joe's finest season.  Givens, if given a proper outside role with a health capable QB would be a 600-700yd 4 TD receiver here.

Question is what do they do with all the journeymen WRs next year and do they draft anymore?

I didn't say I liked Givens. By no means am I a huge fan of the guy, I just had him competing for the #5 WR spot, which he will probably get the opportunity to do. He was producing more when Flacco was under center, but as of right now, I think Butler/D. Brown have a better opportunity for the 5 spot. Actually, I don't know of a lot of fans on here who have a love affair with Givens...I prefer Butler, D.Brown, and obviously Aiken more.

even when flacco was still the qb the guy had like a catch or two a game. I remember he had 1 nice catch at the end of the game in Arizona. He will be a FA so the only way he will be competing for a spot is if we resign him and I just don't see that happening.

Well I do agree there, if he is a free agent then I don't see him returning. Money can be used on a more productive receiver or corner. Aiken is also a restricted FA, so I would like to see us resign him.
