The (good?) Bad, Really Bad and Totally Awful -- Week 15 version

137 posts in this topic

The only thing I'm going to say is I love the fight in this team. Yeah our season isn't going well but man we have played every team down to the wire. Even against Seattle and today against the Chiefs, we played hard until the team started making mistakes. Schaub wasn't that bad of a starter with the exception of his pick sixes, Clausen hasn't been that bad either and somehow we have been in it all the way into the fourth quarter until these past two games.

For us, this is a matter of fixing some areas, hoping Joe is healthy to start week one next year, working some kinks out(young players get another off-season under their belt) and hoping we are on the right side of the calls by the officials next year.

Your mistake is assuming I said he should have benched him. Harbaugh makes these calls you should get a message to him. Besides, QB and RB are two totally different balls of wax. Bad comparison period. Plus, two games back to back, what coach is gonna put up with that? Oh you would...that's who.

It is not just Allen.  He has let go two returners because they fumbled.

Absolutely! This is why I say it's absurd to think about firing Harbs after this season. Now granted, we hope this isn't a trend, but almost nothing went our way.

Not only does Joe need to be healthy, but man does he need weapons. Scratch that. We need playmakers on both sides of the ball. Hopefully, Pees is gone after this season. That would be a start.

I just wanna say I said to temper expectations for Buck Allen after he played well against top 30 or worse ranked run defenses, but people brushed it off... This is about what I expected the past two weeks.

On the bright side, I didn't really pay too much attention to KO, but I didn't hear his name a single time, which is usually a positive for offensive linemen. I did see him plant a pass rusher and then just lay on him, so that was amusing.

I was completely wrong when I said I didn't think Aiken could be more than a three. I think he has shown to be incredibly capable of shouldering a full workload. This isn't a situation like Torrey in 2013 to me because Torrey disappeared as the season progressed, but Aiken has consistently produced. Not only that, but he's seemingly gotten better with worse quarterbacks.

The one thing that really impresses me is that Aiken goes up and gets the ball like it has his name on it. He owns that ball. He just goes up and snatches it out of the air with natural hands. I hated how Torrey would wait for the ball to come to him or pull up and stop trying to go up and attack the ball because there was a defender. Kamar says screw the defender, that ball is mine and I love that. He also has shown incredible body control. I can hardly remember Torrey getting back shoulder fades or out breaking routes to the sidelines because he was usually out of control with knowing to toe tap or to really reel in his body. Aiken seems to have total awareness at all times. A poor man's Anquan Boldin, but he's developing extremely well. Hard work is truly paying off.

I agree with what you said about Akien. While I was watching the game I was thinking I have never see a Ravens WR run a full route tree and make the catches consistantly. He has really shown major improvement this year, more then I've ever seen out of any of our guys. Boldin maybe, but he dropped his fair share. It gives me more confidence that we can develop a guy like Perriman, but imagine if we could get a guy like Boyd who already is so polished. At least it's something positive to think about in this dismal year.

And those pants were the ugly.

Yeah, he was really playing well in that playoff run.

People forget that Jimmy was the one who shut down Crabtree on those last 2 plays of that CRITICAL stop late in the 4th. Had Crabtee scored, we would have lost the SB. It wasn't Ray or Ed, it was Jimmy. Look at what the Eagles gave Maxwell!!!!! I'll take Jimmy

I truly appreciate Bobby Engram. I only knew who he was because I attended VT while he was there, but he had the most productive WR duo in the country while there, so when he came, I thought the Ravens might finally have a good receiver coach.

If Aiken is any proof, Engram can work wonders. And he was Boyd's former coach, so if Boyd is there in the second round, you better believe Engram will be in Ozzie's ear, but with how Aiken has developed, I'm not sure how the Ravens will prioritize receiver in the draft with Perrin an coming back. If they get a Garcon or VJax, they may be content with that trio.

They were beyond bad, but I got used to them by the end because the poor play distracted me

People will also forget the fact that Pees actually called an all out blitz on that play that actually set up the rushed throw.

Well to be fair, Pees was probably more concerned with Kap running. If Kap had time, he would have ran for the TD.

Actually, it's the same play he called in 2007 against the Giants that left Hobbs 1v1 with Burress. He just made a ballsy call that paid off this time

Just stop blaming the coaches and front office at this point, with 19 guys on IR, it just sounds ridiculous.

What a poor excuse. We were always bad this year.

•So the near ineffective draft picks mean nothing?

•The regression of multiple players.

•the Perriman fiasco brought to you by the staff.

• The injury problems for the second year in a row.

•the fact that we still sucked in the preseason.

•the poor contracts

•the slowness

•the bad signings

•the benching of young players after common mistakes(Allen).

Just coincidence? Still can't blame them?

I can see how guys like Sami and wizard predicted how this season would be.

i predicated this would happen as well if certain players got injured.

the players i mention got injured.

so yeah im not surprised.

however i dont really feel special like they do cause its just common sense to expect this to happen lol.

i mean SSS,forsett and Flacco are basicially the offense and Suggs is the embodiment of what it is to be and play like a raven.

you dont need to be a rocket scientist to figure out stuff would get bad with those guys out....

MOM-GENE,,,

hey you sound angry, I  got dinged for so many question marks and exclamation marks, this is just a discussion . you make a point and get a response. lets be civil.

now with that said, I am all in for my RAVENS,, always have been and always will be. what a lot of people here do is create excuses, we can not accept mediocrity or we end up like the --------- (not to be mean), will not name team names. But its fans like you and me that will continue to see things different. its ok,, we are fans , I love my city (west side pimlico rd)  my state and my team..

How many points did we average on offense at our best this year what around 28 points, defense gave up 34 and plus 30 last week, you have never heard me being critical of our offense, heck , I like claussen over schaub, I  may be a part of the few that likes our OC,he has done alot with little what can he do with alot, hhmmmmm,,

I am extremely hard on HARB and our DC,, our defense should not have fallen that far off with Suggs out the line up, very poor schemes, Harb has always made bone headed mistakes, that fake punt was insane.

anyway wrote way too much,, we are making points not making angry gestures because we disagree.

I'm just sick of people blaming people that don't need to be blamed.  Our situation is one that was unforeseen at it's very best, and has absolutely EVERY effect on the game.  Not the coaches.  And not the front office. Fans aren't into the tiny little minutia of the games without looking at the overall picture.  You have a Head Coach who is working his butt off trying to keep this team going, and keep the stands filled with fans.  You have an Offensive Coordinator who hasn't even been here a year.  Been here about 5 or 6 months and can't implement his system at all, because he has no stagnant players on the field.  Every player out there on offense except one or two isn't even a regular starter.  And fans are getting angry because we got NOTHING.  Well folks, that's exactly right...  We got nothing to work with.

So you grow your team and you withstand a few losses at the expense of the growth.  It's time to stop playing the blame game and look at "possibilities"....  Like Kamar Aiken.  Pray that Steve decides to play another year, and we can get guys like Perriman on the field... Harbaugh was teaching Buck a lesson...  and I don't fault the guy for that...  As for the fake punt?  Go for it.  What have you got to lose...  Try something.  There's nothing wrong with that.  Fans are just way too critical.  Especially in our situation the way it is now.

What a poor excuse. We were always bad this year.

Yeah, we stunk...  because we had a frontloaded schedule, that even you guys complained about...  5 out of the first 7 games away.  4 of them on the West Coast against teams like the Broncos, Raiders (who have turned out to be a darn good team), San Fran, and the Cardinals... (3 awesome playoff teams).  Then you add in the Steelers that we beat, by the way, who are also a playoff team.  And every one of those losses was by less than 5 points.  People have such short memories.  I'm done here, it's absolutely ridiculous.

Nobody can watch this team blame and think the scheduling had a major impact on the outcome of our season. MAYBE its a viable explanation if this team were 7-7 or something like that.

4-12 teams have nothing to do with scheduling. If we played the worst teams in the league every week in our own building, we'd be .500.

I don't see any problem with the benching. Infant I praise him for having the guts to sit him after a mistake even though he's our top rb right now. That's the only way young players will learn and I think it's extremely effective. I also have no problem with the fake punt call. If we were in the midst of a playoff run it'd be a different story..but I don't see anything wrong with being aggressive and trying to provide a spark when down by a few scores. The only beef I have had with Harbaugh is his clock management skills. Or lack thereof. Absolutely horrible. it's gotten somewhat better as the year has progressed but it's still a problem.

Most people just want to find something to complain about. If we were winning right now they'd be complaining that we're only ruining our draft position.

I totally agree. Blaming the schedule is a cop-out.

The team just wasn't very good this year especially on D. I think were part of the frustration at the FO is coming from is because they have neglected IMO the corner position for too long. Webb and Smith are injury prone and depending on them to play the whole year with out having liable backups was and is a huge mistake. They addressed the wr position in the draft even though it turned out the way it did.

Fire Chris Hewitt. That is a #1 priority. Guaranteed we get better just doing that first.

I do not want this guy to taint our next draft pick or whoever FA we pick up to address's our secondary next year.

I agree with almost everything you said. our offense  took a major hit but through that hit ,I see the emergence of some great TE's, my ding starting last year was our DC, now he did get a pass last year due to injuries. what is the problem this year.

now our HC HARB, now I have never been a fan of us picking him as our HC, but I do support him, you take buck out for a fumble and jernigan continue to make costly mistakes, oxymoron, HARB has an awful amount of fault as a HC. now this is his team, no more bolden , no more reed or lewis, it is no secret he wanted a certain type of team, this is his team but he is not bill and this is not the patriots, so I do agree with a person here name wizard, the mind set he put in place is nothing like who we used to be. we are the baltimore ravens, but we used to be "THE BALTIMORE RAVENS" .thanks MG for the reply,,

+Z.Smith often set the edge, 2 sacks.

+Aiken's and Butler's footwork on some sideline catches

+ Jensen progressed

-coverage! please fire Pees. Upshaw covering anybody is a bad idea. It feels like on every 3rd down the RB or TE gets open.

-benching Allen. You need playing time in order to progress. I don't understand Harbaughs aspect of benching young players. He said they're planning to give the younger guys opportunities. You cannot expect them to go a out a play like a veteran.

Ditto on the pants. Please never use them again.

The good: The Steelers are still a game out of the playoffs, we moved up to tje 3rd pick with Sd winning so all in all ot couldve been worse. Lol. Gotta look on we bright side we can.

The good: we didn't screw up and win!! ( one step closer to a top 5 pick ) no sense in losing flacco and most of the season then screw up draft position.

The bad: seeing Jimmy injured ( gave me a cringe ) don't need in future setbacks with him.

The awful: what were those pants... Also the awful was seeing Marcus peters make a few plays to flash the potential that so many of us wanted him for.
