[News] Cornerback Jimmy Smith Leaves Game With Thigh Injury

35 posts in this topic

I do like some of the possible future depth though.. on this team... Urban,Zdarius Smith,

Dan Brown, and Butler routinely show up..

Aiken,Butler,Brown could be 4,5,6 wrs next yr.. Perriman,Sr 1 and 3.. draft another bonefied no.1 to go with Perriman like Thomas of OSU, or a burner like Fuller ND

Then get as much transcendent pass rush as possible.. start with Joey Bosa

Glad to hear Harbs say during presser... "We can be as tough as we want, fight as hard as we want but if any team knows you cant turn it over its us"

I don't know about anyone else on this board, but I didn't view this as a negative for the team. It's never my wish that a player get injured. I wish him a speedy recovery, and hope his best football is ahead of him.

The problem is that we believe everything we read and hear about how good some of these players are, and then the truth shows in their play... Now, we really need to draft better, and COACH better.

Don't know if the injury was bad enough for him to be taken out of the game. But it takes two to tango sometimes. He probably asked to be held out of the game. What good could come out if he was going to get burned again especially if he was ailing somewhat.

I'm 90% positive that Jimmy has been hugely effected by his foot injury. I watched his 2013 and 2014 seasons and guess what, the guy was a top 10 corner. He was quick, physical, and had a way of getting his hands on the ball. With injuries that side-line you for awhile. It is hard to come back and immediately re-gain form. A lack of a pass rush doesn't help either, or a lack of communication on coverage. Every fan wants to bash our players when they don't plays great, which I get, but I'm optimistic with a full off-season and hopefully a revamped D, our shut down corner will have a better chance of getting started on the right foot. I hope you have a speedy recovery Smith.

What happened to that super talented Jimmy Smith we all thought was going to be the next great Ravens CB? He doesn't resemble a top notch CB lately does he? In fact, he's played like he's a consistent liability. Something is going on with him. Either he's trying too hard, or is playing with a lack of confidence or is truly hurt...

If he is hurt, shouldn't he be on the injury report? Trying too hard? Never heard of someone playing so poorly and "trying to hard". That leaves lack of confidence or you left off one; he got paid.

What happened to Jimmy? Before he got injured last year he was shutting everyone down, now he gets burned on almost every play. Was he 100%? I just don't get it

Our secondary is sad, and it is even sadder that our great GM has not found a solution as of yet. We have got to stop THRIFT shopping. Every now and then we get a diamond in the rough type of older player, but we have got to get it done this draft.

Sadly, I kind of saw this coming. He was interviewed earlier this week and said something like: "I'm here. Everyone else is on IR." Had a feeling he had just jinxed himself.

Aiken has been a top 5 receiver (per PFF) since taking over for SSS.  Not saying he's a number one receiver but no further back than a number 3 and could be a number pretty serviceable number two.  Still feel he is best in a number 3 role.

He wants nothing to with Antonio Brown or AJ Green in the coming games. Our team is decimated but the 1-on-1 match-ups coming his way will fall squarely on him. If he doesn't go on IR his excuse is already being laid out.
