Joe working out with the team trainers at the facility both the day before and the day after his surgery? That's pretty awesome, wouldn't have expected any player to do that.

What I remember about Joe's first game in Pittsburgh is that before the half, Flacco threw a TD to Mason, but the refs called it out of bounds. No one said anything or made a big deal about it, but the replay clearly showed Mason was in, and it should have been a TD. If Harbaugh challenged it, he definitely would have won, but he chose not to. We settled for a FG, and they briefly mentioned that Mason was in bounds during the halftime show, and that was the end of it. Deciding not to challenge probably cost us that game, which could have cost us home field, which could have cost us the SB.

Even Chuck Norris is impressed.

This is the stuff that helps me realize how fortunate we are to have him. Joe cool is the man, everybody says he needs to be more hype and what not but I think the players feed off of his calmness more than anything. When you make a huge mistake most teams fall apart - but when your able to just March right back down the feild like nothing happened that's huge.and that's one of joes best traits.

Great article and insight into Joe's feelings on a lot of things that matter to him, and us fans. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that he is a true leader of this team, and the team does its best to work as one unit. His family and upbringing has surely proved to mold him into the great person and player that he is. To read that he can still see himself as our QB for 10 more years is proof of his love and dedication to the Raven's organization. I DO hope he can play till he is 40 and beyond here as our QB, and give the team and us fans a couple more Super Bowl wins along the way :)

I've been just as down and agitated as any Ravens fan these last few days, but there's just something so calming and reassuring reading Joe's words in his voice in your mind. Like everything is gonna be ok.

As long as we got Flacco, we got a shot.

I remember that first Pittsburgh road game on MNF. The general feeling was that we would lose and badly. I remember how delirious the Steelers fans were after winning the game in OT, as if they had just won the SuperBowl. I thought to myself that the Ravens were in good hands, with a rookie QB and head coach that had just scared the you-know-what out of the Steelers and their fans on national TV at their place. That game seemed to be the real beginning of the Ravens/Steelers rivalry, as most of the subsequent battles seem to follow that script.

“Seeing guys in the league who have a lot of talent and don’t use it. Seems like some guys are not tough enough to get through the hard times. You see guys who don’t put the work in to becoming as good as they can be. Some guys lose track of what it takes. I wish I could knock them over the head and tell them how to do it.”

This comment by Joe really jumped out to me.  He can only be talking about his own teammates (old/present)  w/out calling them out.

I never knew Joe had that kind of fire in him... refreshing to say the least, I now like Flacco even more than I already did

You should have seen his Wired episode. You would have seen the fire.

Just knowing that cool and calm Joe gets irritated enough to want to knock somebody on the side of the head who may have a bad work ethic or lax attitude gives me real hope for the team next year. In fact, it makes me happy. I can't envision Joe actually bopping some teammate over the head (lol) but I sure hope Joe fully uses his leadership to set the tone, uphold the highest effort standards and to be intolerant of anything less than 100% from himself and his teammates. Way to go Joe.

Somethings never change. Let's face it, we're not one of the darlings of the league, never have been and never will be. Just the way we like it!

Go Ravens!

I normally don't read these articles all the way through...just not interested at times.  But this one?  I must say was refreshing.  I really appreciate Joe Flacco more due to his candor in his answers to the questions.  I hate all of that sugar-coating stuff!  Just tell it like it is and Joe did that.  Wonderful stuff to hear from our franchise QB.  I really loved this part about what he had to say about the great Ray Lewis and his "rah-rah" (as some here have called them) speeches....

Ray Lewis speeches?

“I feel so fortunate that I got to be part of them for five years. He motivated people. Ray has a knack for speaking from the heart and getting his message across to everybody. It’s not an easy thing to do, to get up in front and motivate a bunch of professional athletes and lay it all on the line, but that’s what he did. Whatever he said on any given day, it came from his heart, and we all believed it.”

My favorite Joe moment was during the final play of the Superbowl when he yelled to the team on the sidelines to gang tackle the 49er during the run back. He said he was kidding, but he.wasn't. No way he was losing that game.

@ January J, Lol I love the run game but Joe amazed us with his passing abilities and I feel they got away from that! It's the staple that is needed to put teams away now because we lost two legends on Defense and it's the Offense turn to carry this team and running up the middle ain't gone cut it! The run is a bonus but not to be relied on! I hope we get "Big Zeke" from my Ohio St Buckeyes or Bosa take your pick!

Great article. Joe seems to be a natural when it comes to question/interviews now.

I wish him the best of luck on recovery.

Oh..and do us a favor. Give us some breathing room w/ your contract. We need to build this team to be great next season! Don't screw it up for us!
