[News] Fans Vote Zero Ravens Into Pro Bowl

32 posts in this topic

I hate to say it but a losing season like we've had really effects the voting. These guys would be there if we were a playoff team. I think they are the best at their position.

I think maybe I shouldn't have voted I have no idea who most of those players are. There are five that I voted for plus I voted for six Ravens

Being the best at your position doesn't mean you're the most popular at your position. Fan voting is literally a popularity contest.

I think I speak for most Ravens fans when I say, whoopdi freaking' do.

The NFL Pro Bowl game is almost unwatchable so I really do not care much about it, but Koch IMHO is the best punter and should have been in. I am just glad the fans got it right last year for him.

cobrajet? after this season, which is what the votes are based on, Tucker's not number 1 anymore. To me he is, but not to the people that make the decisions.

Our special teams trio are the best in the league and any true Ravens fan knows that. I'd take Morgan Cox, Sam Koch and Justin Tucker over any of the other teams. Koch's punting has been unbelievable this year. He's only had a couple bad punts and certainly no shanks. Trust that the Coaches and players will give Koch the votes to be at the Pro Bowl as a first teamer. Tucker has struggled past the 50, but inside of it he's money! The unsung of the group is Morgan. His snaps are so good, the only time I heard his name mentioned was when he got caught for holding. Yeah! the refs got that one, but haven't seen the other team hold (not once in the past 11 games!) Makes you wonder?!

I have faith in the players and coaches to vote a few Ravens in. They are the ones that really know who is deserving of a nod. It'll happen for probably a few Ravens.

Yanda and Koch are the only ones that really deserve it this year. Maybe juice. Brandon Williams should go too but everything he does doesn't show up on the stat sheet.

nfl should just abolish pro bowl because it doesn't include the players that really deserve it and because players that have more pro bowls on their resume are more guaranteed to make it to hof which is absolutely stupid but whatever it doesn't really matter

Who cares about the Pro Bowl? It is just name recognition. The same people get voted in year after year. They always mention it as an accolade, but everyone knows it is bogus. They should just get rid of it.

Plus, if I remember correctly, the pro-bowl ballot grouped NTs in with DTs because their ballot was for a 4-3 defense. Kind of hard for any NT to compete with a DT on the stat sheet.

The average fans rarely vote for players on teams that have a bad season. Most average fans don't even know who Yanda is anyway. The way our season is going Yanda would go to the Bogus Bowl and tear his ACL.

It would have been nice for some of our guys to make the Pro-Bowl because they really wanted to go, and some certainly deserved to be voted in, especially Koch, Williams, Yanda and Juice....maybe next year....

No one was worthy of the selection which is painfully obvious. It would have been nice to see the logo on  the new uni's tho… ;)

It seems some people forget that fan ballot makes only 1/3 of the voting. So there is no "Maybe next year" just yet:)

I'd be hugely disappointed in players-coaches-experts votes if at least Koch, Yanda, Williams don't get the invite. Juice has been solid, but some FB-s might have been better overall, so he might be a coin toss. Same goes with McClellan.

As for Tucker, I'd be honestly surprised if he DID get the invite considering he's currently 29th in FG percentage. If he did get the invite, it'd be purely based on his past achievements, like it is with so many other players, and that's also the big reason I personally don't like Pro Bowl :)

The season record has Everything to do with this. Our own fans were probably not as active with their voting as in past years, and other fans, I believe, are highly influenced by a team's record. No question, though, Brandon Williams, Marshall Yanda, and Sam Koch deserve the honor to go. As much as I like Tucker, sorry, he just hasn't earned it this year. Too many misses, even if most were from 50 or beyond. Just not a typical Tucker year. I think it might hurt him in contract negotiations, and increase the possibility of the franchise tag even though the team does not like to resort to that, and for good reason.

Everyone knows this is a popularity contest, and we definitely are not the most popular team, even when we have good years. Look at every position, the Panthers have someone for every position almost. Granted, a lot deserve the recognition, but when the best Guard in the game is ranked 9th in votes, that's sad. Only true football fans, and Ravens fans, know how good he really is. The same for Brandon Williams, not many fans are going to realize just how dominate he can be. I really can't believe Koch hasn't been voted in...I feel like he is actually getting more popularity this year. I think he makes it when the coaches and players vote. I believe Yanda will as well.

But, let's be honest, the probowl is a joke. I wish they would do away with the game. All-pro selections mean a lot more.

Appreciate the voting specifics RaRa. I was wondering what % of the vote was fan based. Good news that fans only get a third of the voting. Agree, there may be a good chance yet for some Ravens. The fan voting as a popularity contest can make a joke of the Pro Bowl so I am glad there is some sense of limiting the votes and that there is a heavier reliance upon experts/coaches. Still hope left for this year, we have some deserving players who should get the honor of being a Pro Bowler. Thanks for clarifying the voting process.
