[News] Late For Work 12/16: Why Contract Makes Ryan Mallett Likely 2016 Backup, What He Must Prove

44 posts in this topic

I do like the move...Always liked Mallet, he was great at Ark...I was afraid Cleveland was going to snag him in that draft....

Mallet is a good, forward-thinking move by the FO. Just look at the options out there. It keeps Mallet away from the Bengals, and gives the Ravens a back-up who has proven to be able to play at an NFL level. Also, he was Brady's backup for three years. Hopefully, he never sees the field in 2016.

One thing I noticed about Mallett is how his Texan teammates really seemed to really like him and his personality. I think most of his issues were with O'Brien. By signing this deal he surely understands it's not a competition to be the starter. Good move, he's cheaper and better than Mr. Pick Six.

I saw Mallet get 'sat down' in one of Houston's games and he acted childish, making faces and waving his arms around on the side line. Hope he has progressed since then. He has potential but his attitude is holding him back. Hope he reads my post and gets the message.

LOL. maybe the people that run the twitter account should read some of the things fans have said since the loss to the Seahawks. In the last 72 hours fans have begged to be flexed out of Prime Time and defended an empty stadium.

I don't think I've been as ashamed to be a Ravens fan as I have been the last couple of days.

I agree with fellow posters like RMC and Crusader et al. It's all just random feel-good bafoonery in our heads.

Ravens fans have proven to be no more or less loyal than any run-of-the-mill fan base in any sport.

Just sad.

And its sad to embarrass the loyal fans that would have stuck it out if they had a chance to go to the games

I see us losing out, which is not a bad thing. Just need San Diego to win 2 out of last 3, not impossible but tough and we would have a legit shot at Bosa. Keeping my fingers crossed.

if only they would've won last week . They were so damn close. Then came the false start and wood heads drop in the end zone as time expired.

OVERRATED SPOILED FANBASE

See, the old me would get upset and jump to defend the honor of fellow Ravens Fans, but now? After reading what I've read? No sir.

Yes, we are overrated. Yes, we are spoiled. Yes, we are fair-weathered.

We lose one blowout loss with a decimated roster after playing close games all season and the stadium empties out and me, watching on TV half way across the country can hear Seahawks fans chanting in our own stadium?

If you ask me we're nowhere even close in honor to the fans of Cleveland. That franchise has been an appalling disaster for more than a decade and their fans still show up to watch.

We are garbage.

"Will Hill's unlikely touchdown off that blocked field goal in Cleveland two weeks ago – the second time an NFL game has ended in this fashion – might go down as the play that causes the Ravens to miss out on the top overall selection"

Deal ;)

The Ravens are still my Team, Win or Lose. I am not as emotionally invested in other teams as I am with the Ravens. This year has sucked no doubt but have to take the bad with the good and the Ravens have given me lots of good to suffer through this bad spell. Just hoping we can fix our problems soon!

OVERRATED SPOILED FANBASE ???

Overrated?-Not in a million years. Loyal is more like it. Trust me, I (and many others on here) have witnessed first hand how loyal the Raven fanbase really is. Go to an away game and look around. All you will see is a sea of Purple. Loyal fans whose team is 3-7 or 4-7 at the time ,yet still travel out of state to see them play. Overrated? I thimk not.

Spoiled?-Absolutely. Why shouldn't we be? We are a Perennial Play-off team. We are usually always in the mix for a division crown or play-off spot. We have been the home of some Hall of Fame players, even icons. We have one of the best front offices from Owner on down. Spoiled? absolutely and kinda proud of it.

Yes we have had a miserable year, but this is part of being a fan. Sticking with your team is a must for die hard fans. If not you are truly just a person that jumped on our bandwagon when we were winning. So if you are one of those wagon jumpers that's bailing on the Ravens because we have had a bad year, then pick anther team because we, the true Ravens fan would never do such a thing.

GO RAVENS!

This obsession over the top pick is nonsense. I just want Ozzie to not trade back because he covets a guy that he thinks is sliding. In all reality I don't expect that, but I just want a top 5-7 pick! Number one picks can easily be over hyped. Just look at the 2014 draft. Clowney went #1, while Mack (who Ray Ray said should have went first I remember) and Donald went after him and both turned out to be massive game changers, whether it's getting 5 sacks or intentionally breaking arms smh. The only pick I really really want is Bosa, but I feel he is a 4-3 DE, which I could be wrong because on tape the guy is as versatile as they come when lining up. But if we get HGIII, Ramsey, or even Nkemdiche, that would be great.

That was a great article about Sam Koch. Never had a clue he was doing any of that stuff, just knew he was kicking butt and occasionally winning games for us due to the quality of his punts. In retrospect, maybe he should have gotten the Raven's unsung hero award last season.

Yeah, that "loyalty" was on full display at the Bank in the 3rd quarter on Sunday.

You're basically saying what we're saying except in an upbeat tone instead of our depressing tone.

I've travelled to multiple road games this year and you're right, we do travel well to certain cities.

But when we're not playing well and don't have a chance, people disappear like relatives that owe you money.

There are people that comment on BR.com that were basically begging to get flexed out of a nationally televised Prime Time game because they're convinced that Steelers fans will vastly outnumber Ravens fans in our own stadium.

So that should tell you about our loyalty.

Steeler fans travel well also, but no way no how will they out number Ravens Fans at M&T. Even if you have lost faith in the team, you need to have faith in us fans. Ride till we die.

If I had a choice I think it would be Ramsey. He is at least 2 inches taller and a little heavier. At least he is 6'2 and with the likes of the A.J Greens ,Antonio Browns etc. , we could use a tall strong DB.

Oz made a huge mistake by letting Tyrod go. I think Tyrod stays for a guarantueed $1m/season. Now we're dealing with Clausen and Mallet? For real? Come on man!

I think you are right on the money for Tyrod but I believe he wanted the opportunity to start. His two possibles were the Bills and the Jets and I believe he would have taken either before staying with the Ravens.
