Brandon Williams is the future.

Brandon Williams should be the guy that Oz builds the d-line around he is just a straight up BEAST. We have watched him multiple times eat up double teams and still get into the back field and stuff the runner. Guy is Baltimore's future he is still pretty young and has more than a few years of football left in him. WILLIAMS IS THE FUTURE.

He's the best player on the defense right now but he's not a game changer you can build around, he's our anchor for the next 5 years.

I'd rather not praise him... We as fans can't have nice things.  The second someone starts performing and gaining recognition, they get hurt.  HE'S A BUM!

he isnt a building block, a building block is someone who a DC cant rotate out of the game because they are too dominant, brandon williams is by all means a straight up stud and is the brightest spot on a team in a dark year, and looks like he is gonna do nothing but improve, but i dont think hes ever gonna be much of a pass rusher, to be THE GUY that the defense is built around, you have to be able to do both.

i love brandon williams though, dont take this as me putting him down in any way, he is probably the best anchoring NT in the game and i love that we found this small school gem, its nice knowing that IF we had faster athletic guys in the front seven, then they would have a much easier time with this manbeast in front of them

He's certainly been one of the better players on our defense for two years now. He's only gotten better. That's nice to see.

The best player on our defense this year and it's not even close

You don't build your team around a nose tackle even though he's probably the best at his position. We still need an elite pass rusher who is not a stopgap solution, somebody for the next 3+ years. A new corner and for crying out loud a capable safety who can make plays.

Brandon Williams is just another piece, Nose Tackles aren't that hard to come by. Every year you can get a capable run stuffer late in the draft, I'm not too worried about it and I wouldn't spend more than 4-5 mil. per year on a guy like that.

He's an attack dog. A damn good one, but he's an attack dog. For the run game. Jernigan is also an attack dog. He's one of the people we will build around. I think THE GUY who is the future is CJ. As of late he's been an animal. So has Wlliams.

They don't need to build around just one person.  Williams and Jernigan are a 1-2 punch that do different things.  Williams is the run stopper, but he can occasionally get pressure on the QB.  He's the new Ngata (half a sack less than Ngata his first 3 seasons for example).  Jernigan is a better guy to get pressure on the QB but can also stop the run.

They were drafted one season apart.  If you're building around the d-line, you build around both

I disagree, a true nose tackle who can control the whole interior, keep 2 to3 blockers on their heels, and beat double teams and maintain gap integrity and discipline, is very difficult to find. Sure you could put a big fat guy out there to eat space, but a truly dominant nt is hard to find and they, along with a dominant olb, are what defines a good 3-4 front. Vince wilforks, Casey hamptons, formerly Phil taylors, just don't come around often. We have found that rate breed in Williams

He's a name on the list that is about to get paid BIG TIME. Not sure how much NT makes but I'm sure it won't be cheap.

But he's just another guy coming off his rookie contract and will now receive huge money. Hopefully he performs a lot better than our others who we have paid coming off of rookie deals. I'm looking directly at Jimmy.

Well written post!! A stud player but not a $100mil player. He would have to get to the qb more often to be considered in that class. I actually believe Jernigan will make the jump to pro bowl status!! Hopefully Jernigan somewhat justifies not drafting Robinson. BTW what is the deal with Carl Davis??!! He was our best defensive player in the preseason!! Why isn't he playing?? I heard he just isn't ready?? Hard to believe after his preseason play and senior bowl dominance!! It would be really cool if he spent this offseason training with Timmy Jernigan!! That dude could really be an alpha male if he got even a little stronger and more explosive!! The ravens DLine could be very formidable as a unit. And control the line of scrimmage.

Williams does one really important thing, he lets other people have open holes or one on one matchups with the o-linemen. You can have single-gap DEs with him in the middle and still be able to stop the run.

Hes a good NT, and paired next to Jerrigan as the DT in a 4-3 could be really good. But hes not the future or some building block or we. Hpwever that said, I wouldnt let him hit FA. Offer him a decent contract and call it a day.

Let me explain what I meant by a building block on the defense you need guys at every level to perform the Ravens use to have Haloti on the D-Line  then R. Lewis in the middle and finally E. Reed on the back end and Brandon Williams is definitely the piece for the d-line going into the future.

Agreed! Bust in the making. Let's all thank Oz for that.

NT's main job are not getting sacks but being able to stuff the run and taking up blockers so other people get sacks which he is an ace at. He'll command good dollar but right now he has no probowl status but believe me GM's around the league know his value. If we can extend his contract right now it would be cheaper and wise.

Carl Davis, is he builds off his start this year would be an incredible find. What do we do? rotate the 3 and keep them fresh? or switch to the 4-3?

I think Williams is better as a NT than he would be as a 4-3 DT, so I'd prefer to stick to a 3-4.
