[News] Ravens Make Seven Roster Moves

66 posts in this topic

Webb should have been FS for the last two years. I said that two years ago, I said that this summer. Now all he has to do is stay healthy.

I like Raheem... very shifty... and great vision in the open field... he's always one missed tackle away from a big play... but I guess they want a running back who can tout the rock... and not just be a receiving back... hopefully he will be on the practice squad...

Great idea. Bring in the young guys and give them some experience is a doomed season. This year is over for the ravens. This is the best thing the team could do considering.

Welcome to live experience training camp! The end of the season will help solidify who to ask back next year when all of our wounded warriors come back. give the guys some playing time.

I'm in favor of this, want to see what kind of talent we have at CB....Would be happy if Nick Perry gets called up over the last 3 games to see what kind of range he has a Safety....Brooks also needs PT at Safety...Also like to see O-Linemen brought up, as i think we might have a few spot open next year...Jensen hasn't stood out as a player who can't be replaced, where as Urschel has made the most of his time over the last 2 years...JMO.....

To say "Webby looks great" playing ANY position is very kind of Coach Harbaugh. "Webby hasn't looked good since returning from his knee injury 2 or 3 seasons ago. Sorry Mr. Webb, I like you very much.

Harbaugh's comments about Webb should be most concerning if you're name sounds anything like Shmendrick Shmewis. That new DirecTV commercial cracks me up. Shmank you ! lol

Good on Magee! He did some good things in the preseason. Mosert was a decent returner. Anyway, we'll have to be cutting some running backs next year, that's the one position we are really deep at once everyone comes back from IR - Forsett, Allen, Taliaferro, West, now Magee... I also want to see what the CBs come up with and also Webby doing well... I really like the guy and would hate to see him cut.

Who in the front office has a thing for castoffs from the Houston Texans?

chargers have a thing for ravens castoffs, it just kinda happens. the texans in their prime were actually a pretty similar team to the ravens, emphasized the run game, play action passing, clock control, and continuously stacked the front seven. its a copycat league and that leads to things like this

I got a great idea. How about some coaching moves? "its a copycat league and that leads to things like this" losing seasons?

So So soooooo disappointed we cut Renner to add Mallet. Renner played like a Raven ion his limited time and deserves a chance to prove himself. I do not agree with the notion that Clausen made his case to be a starter just bc he played "slightly" better than Schaub.

Place Schaub on IR and bring Renner back and give him a proper chance!!!!!

Renner was cut a couple of times this season on and off the practice squad. He was out there for the league to pick up and in a QB starved league, someone would have grabbed him, if they thought he was an NFL QB.

He had a couple of nice minutes at the end of a preseason game against 4th team players.

Nothing against Renner, but the facts that (A) he's only played decently well against 3rd stringers in the preseason and (B) he's worked out for a couple teams and hasn't been signed by any of them make a good argument to look at Mallett and Clausen more. Mallett is signed for next season too and if he gets his act together, he could be a good backup. I don't think we should spend a draft pick on a backup QB when there are a lot of other needs on the team.

They are finally making the decision on Webb. It should be interesting to see what these young guys can do without much of a pass rush. I think it is clear that we are looking at a top 5 pick. I hope Ozzie can do some damage picking at the front of the draft.

Now I see why Webb and Smith were so eager to renegotiate their contracts. Webb has been horrible and Smith mediocre at best this year. They both must have known that they just don't have the speed or agility to be top tier corners after with their injuries.

Musical chairs. Reminds me of Cleveland more and more. That over-reaction after the SB win when the FO cut way too many players is still coming back to haunt them. That and the revolving door at OC. I got more faith in solid stable organization than what I've seen lately with this team. What was once one of the most stable teams in sports has now become a spinning wheel of confusion. I don't see how any player could develop under these circumstances (or would want to). I hope they slow this terrible trend down quite a bit and start building for the future.

Smith didn't restructure. He was extended 4 year $41mill/21gntd.  Ozzie was outflanked by Drew Rosehaus who threatened with open market being that Smith was in a contract year and corner were expected to go at a premium. .  Smith has 1 season of decent play. His first two  teetered between getting burned and getting hurt. His fourth season he was hurt and before he was even cleared to practice Ozzie inked him without knowing what player would show this year. He's back to playing as he did when he arrived but it doesn't matter.  Nobody is eating his contract and he's too detrimental to the cap to cut.  He'll play lights out in 2016 or he'll be cut in late 2017 when his dead money is under $3mill.

Why is anyone worried about winning . We are now in 2016 training camp to see who we keep on the cheap so that we don't have to go into free agency searching  or burn draft picks .
Givens and Mathews are sure to be back and they are testing Tray Walker next week to see if they have a candidate to facilitate moving Webb to safety.

Yeah, Ozzie has done a few ridiculous contracts, but none will ever come anywhere near the one he gave Pitta, knowing his health issues. Can you say dead money? I know, I know....he's Joe's best bud.
