[News] Ravens-Steelers Officially Flexed Out Of Primetime

33 posts in this topic

Thank God that a national audience won't have to watch a Ravens home game that will be filled with 70% Steelers fans. Ravens Fans(?) showed up in the form of thousands of empty seats this season.

Agree with you 1000%!!  Usually this game this late in the season would have meaning, but not this year.  The casual Ravens won't attend this game. BTW, for the past few seasons, the Ravens/Steelers game doesn't even have the rivalry feeling that it used to.

Bummer. The only reason the first game didn't have that rivalry feeling was bc there was no Suggs and no Big Ben. Those two are the heart of the rivalry right now. And it still was an awesome game.

I know this is off topic, but I haven't seen any news on here about this. Last night, while watching the game, my son, who lives on the Georgia/Florida border and I talked by phone during the game as we always do. He's a die-hard Dolphins fan. Crazy kid! What's up with that? Anyway, he swears he heard on ESPN that we had signed Ryan Mallet. He and I tease each other a lot, so I don't know whether to believe him. Has Anyone heard if this is true, or do I need to get him back with one?

There are going to be more Steeler fans then Ravens fans there anyway because our so called great fan base bails on the team at the first sight of a rough patch, but I'll be there up in my section 516 just like every single home game at the Bank rooting our Ravens on. So I am glad they flexed us out of the primetime game so the entire nation wont get a chance to see Steeler fans take over our stadium.

I'm glad we don't have to see our Ravens getting blown out on prime time TV..!

I was at the Seachickens game and the stands seamed to be filled.

Does this mean our game won't be televised at all?

Last week the guide said the game was on Fox and the Skins game was on instead.

I'm hoping this team can start building a strong top 10 Defense again after this season. I'm excited to see what some of our younger guys can do.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Ryan Mallett's deal with the Ravens is worth up to $2.5 million in 2016.

If you wanted to discuss further, there is a forum thread opened on this topic:

I didn't catch the Seahawks game ... were the stands empty (I mean, before it got to be a blow out)?

I've got tickets for KC and will be driving 250 miles to get there. I will be there and I will be loud. Not the game I envisioned seeing when I bought the tickets in August, but I'll be present no matter what.

To me this is just another jab during this horrible nightmare season. I get all the reasoning behind it, I know it isn't the NFL hating on us - but now, our rivalry with the Steelers does not even earn Primetime. :(

And rightfully so. At least the Steelers are still fighting, and winning games. Unlike us, we are arguably the worst team in the NFL. Baltimore is a blue collar city, people don't have money to be wasting on tickets to see a team that cant perform worth squat. We are missing star players across the board, and did I mention that we are LOSING HORRIBLY.

And the fact that this defense so weak right now, and this is supposed to be a defensive team. I don't blame the fans, look at it as a message to Ozzie and Biscotti to get some order back in this house fast.

Can only imagine how hard it is to stand out of your seat and constantly cheer "DEFENSE" if you don't have one.

Big deal...The Broncos Steelers is the one I want to see. They were comparing the Broncos defense to the Ravens 2000. In that case.. Let's see the Broncos first shutout of the year. Didn't we have 4? Best ever are the 2000 Ravens defense.

The same Denver team that lost at home to Oakland? I doubt it.

Christmas weekend... and folks have made plans...  Just sayin'.

Here we go folks...  On FB:

"The final game of the year at M&T, which is now 1pm instead of 8:30 pm. Tickets are now listed on the Ravens Marketplace. Ridiculous."

THIS is why you'll see more Steeler fans than Ravens fans there.....  Moreso than for "fandom" reasons.

The very first game I ever went to was right after Christmas.. pre Flacco.  I don't remember who our QB was (for some reason I'm thinking Troy Smith) but he was second string, playing against the Steelers.  We pulled it out, we could still do that.  It would be the perfect end to a lousy season.

Keep the faith..

Oh I am...  I'm pretty ticked off that they did this.  Seems like the only people who are OK with this most likely weren't going anyway.

Your name says it all Ravens Fan since 03, I guess you only ride with this team when things are going good. There should never be a case where we let Steelers fans take over our stadium, The Ravens have been one of the most successful franchises in the NFL, and they are clearly having a rough season for the first time in a long time this year, but to read some of the comments and the way this fanbase talks you would think we are a franchise that is constantly struggling.

I surprised! I thought the NFL and Steelers would love nothing more than to embarrass the Ravens on National TV. NFL has been doing such a great job with the calls against them. I'm sure Ben would love to break Payton 7 touchdowns against the Ravens. There sure is a lot of records John and Ozzie crews are breaking this year.

You must not know your football- Oakland is a different team with Del Rio at the helm, and they are in playoff contention unlike our team...

You can bet your sweet butt that if the game was in Pittsburgh the game would not have changed! No respect by either the networks or NFL. Guess it's just as well we don't have much left of our starters to field a team. Go Ravens.

Ravens fansince 03 you sir are NOT a fan. Your snide remarks against a team that has one bad season in eight is just pathetic. You like the Steelers so much maybe you'll get some of their tickets for Christmas. Go Ravens.
