[News] John Harbaugh: 2016 Season Starts Now

65 posts in this topic

My quick little 2016 wish list:

1.) That everyone comes back healthy, Flacco, Sizzle, Forsett, Perriman, Zuttah, SSS for an actual farewell tour

2.) We find an aggressive D coordinator that can develop talent.

3.) We address the holes in the draft, as I see it we need major help in the secondary and pass rush departments

I'm praying for Bosa, HGIII, or Ramsey, who I think will be a legit FS! Because god we need one.

4.) Sign Tucker and KO, plus make him LT and send Monroe anywhere for a pick!

5.) We land some awesome vets that will contribute. Some of the recent ones have been, well not the greatest, cough Arrington cough Lewis...

I'm honestly excited for these last three games and to be able to see what they young players can do should be fun to watch at this point in the season. Hopefully Harbaugh sticks to what he said and actually gives the young guys a fair chance and put them in a position to succeed.

You can't blame all the defensive mistakes on Pees. He is kind of limited by the personnel. However, it sure looks like the players out there just don't know their assignments and I know I have lost all confidence in the game plan. Is this the same for the players and their confidence in him OR are they just that lost?

Ahh come on dude... What have you been watching this season? Anytime we play a solid offense pees has no confidence in our defense... He will constantly play 10-15 yards off the ball in ANY AND ALL SITUATIONS it could be third and two and hes calling off coverage... And we are STILL getting beat deep.

You had me all the way up until you said cough lewis... Lewis is not a bad player... Sure he dropped the ball in jacksonville but ever since he returned from that knee injury he has been playing solid football... I'm tired of people bashing on him for his horrible first 6 weeks... Stew did the exact same thing last year finished the year strong like k Lew has and is now a top safety in the league.

IMO this is another way of saying their throwing in the towel on the rest of the season. I didn't expect this nor do I condone it, this has turned into a bush league team! How in the world can you evaluate these players when probably half of these guys won't here next year SMH!!!!! Harbaugh blowing smoke.

You can't throw in the towel when you have no towel to throw in. The Ravens have been eliminated it just makes sense to see what you got.

The towel is on injured reserves. It tore it's ICL (Internal Cotton Ligament) in week 5.

I'm not bashing your post, but what exactly is there left to do for the season? This is the time you would like to see what the rest of your players & COACHES have to offer so you know who should stay or go for next year.

IMO, Harbaugh should fire Pees and bring in someone with a dominating defensive mindset like Schwartz or whoever and let them get an early jump on changing this defensive culture back to what it used to be.

TBH...I think that CDavis and Urban earned the right to play... I think that KLM has an opportunity to show that he can contribute...hope he takes advantage. I think that KO is our LT.... and I think that this is the plan for Webby next year (meaning we are 1. in the market for an outside CB and 2. KLewis will be outside of our plans)

dc5bundy.... I agree that pees should be gone and i have been calling for this for 2 plus years...but we may have our eyes on a coach currently under contract with another team and that may be why we are waiting to pull the trigger there (i hope ) i do like the idea of schwartz though!

That's why you let them play, to see if they deserve to be here next year. What do we have to play for now? I know that you always play hard and try to win the game, but I would love to see what our young guys can do. Daniel Brown may be earning himself a roster spot for next season, along with Jeremy Butler. I also wouldn't mind resting some guys we KNOW are going to return next season, to avoid an injury that may be a setback for next season.

I don't like Pees bend but don't break style, but I don't think he has the talent he needs on the defense. missed tackles, dropped picks, inability to cover , lack of pass rush has do with lack of talent on the defense.

As a coach you put your players in a position to succeed.  We have J .Smith and Webby as our corners,  Each have excelled in the past.  This season they are being burnt on a continual basis.  Will Hill is a decent SS, and I think Lewis has improved at FS.  The pass rush has been non-existent, and our LBs have not done a good job of covering underneath routes.  At the end of the day we have heard all season long about technique, have to play the technique, communication, guys are out of position...At this point these guys have been coaching this bunch since July.  If the players are still making the same mistakes sounds to me like the coaches aren't doing their jobs, and I believe that is a huge part of our problems.  On offense as well.  We have not committed to the run at all this season, we seem to run a swing pass on every play regardless of down and distance, even when Joe and SSS were healthy.  How can Jimmy Claussen (Jimmy Claussen, for Pete's sake!) hit Aiken on back to back plays for like 60 yards to end the 1st half last week, but during regular in-game scenarios we rarely, if ever, push the ball down the field?  To me, this team is lost, and it starts at the top.  I'm not taking the excuse that the talent isn't there.  I've seen far too many teams with less than stellar talent overall have big time success.  I've also seen plenty of teams stacked with talent "drop a deuce in the bed" so to speak.  And speaking of talent, I've seen Brown play very well over the past couple of weeks, and a couple of other guys, such as Clay (the punt returner) play well.  Why weren't these guys seeing the field before?  We pick up Givens and he's done next to nothing, yet Brownie has caught some big time passes.  Leads me to question the coaches' ability to evaluate players and talent.  At the end of the day, great coaches find a way to win, and they certainly don't deflect blame.  Either you can, or you can't. And if you can't, then go away.

"Kelechi Osemele has moved to left tackle to see if he could be the long-term answer" ... for whom?

I believe KO has gone through his years here expressing that he wanted to stay at LG. I will be guilty of some 20/20 hindsight commentary, but it would have been best had we converted him to LT for the 2014 season and let Monroe walk. I think we could have managed to fill in at LG in the meantime, could have saved the money now going to an absentee Monroe and used it to retain KO.

The 2016 season started in Cleveland. That TD runback for the win cost us the #1 draft pick. I think Harbs was thrilled about it (not).

Ozzie needs to retire, Pees will be let go after the season and Harbaugh will be joining his brother in the college ranks after next season.

How big are injuries? Game one in Denver was it. Losing Suggs and Smith Sr. missing the winning catch. That said it all. Draft is #1.

I guess us fans are being little tough on him, but I guess that is what happens when we are all used to having the best center fielder to ever play. I think he is a good player, but when I watch the deep ball get flung down field I feel as if he isn't ever back in coverage or he is so far away from the ball that he doesn't have a chance to make a play on it. At this point I feel it's time to get a new coordinator so that we can see where the real problem is or was.

I keep hearing Ravens don't have the talent, its not Dan Pees fault, John only has what he got to work with. Sounds like the fingers are pointing to OZZIE and crew.

It's official. Mallet will be the backup through 2016. We also dropped rb rahim mostert and signed Terrence Magee to the active roster.

Why do fingers need to be pointed at anyone....???

I've been wanting to see this the moment flacco went down. Some guys like Trey Walker should have been seeing some time on the field given the secondary play.

Valuable snaps towards some of these guys development and future. I wish Waller wasn't placed on IR so quickly.

It should be interesting to see if Arthur Brown sees any real game action as well...

Urban, KLM, Davis getting more playing time is huge, in terms of evaluating them.

Coming into the year, there was no reason to expect such a down year. Can't predict Perriman going down in preseason and never taking a snap. That along with losing Kubiak ( and offensive consistency we had last year were devastating ).

Also, the secondary was still a question mark because both starters were injuried previous year.

Let's face it starting in week 1, 2 things have occurred that has continued plague this team throughout this season. Injuries ( Suggs the first to go down ) and costly penalties ( week 1 Jernigan penalty put the icing on Denver win ). Since then the injuries continue to pile up just like all the penalties every game.

ENOUGH with the injury excuse. Ravens lost SUGGS that's it and the season was over long before Steve and anybody else went down. Putting your hope in Perriman, a rookie to do what he would have hit the rookie wall by now.? No this "team" has been mishandled since after the SB. Kubiak show what a good offensive coordinator could do. Next year will not be any better. Too many BAD contacts, Bad draft picks, and Bad Coaches.
