I don't understand how Marlon Brown keeps making the cut week after week.  We keep making roster moves and somehow he's still here.

He has pictures from a wild Christmas office party taken a couple of years back

Kinda mad about Mostert. Hopefully he clears waivers. I liked him.

Mostert was one I was really pulling for, but he was only returning kicks and well, they weren't being returned too often

This.  Seriously.  I am at a lost of words on this, he has had every oppurtunity to succeed and has done nothing. He wont be back

Mallet is a good signing of a QB. He has the tools to succeed and will preform at a higher level here. I think Trestman will get the best out of him and help him elevate his game. He has a rocket launcher arm and get hit almost the same throws as Joe. I think Givens will actually be able to showcase his speed and hands because Clausen and Schaub didn't have quite the strength to get him the ball or lead him. Not a true look at receiver these past few games. I'd put Mallet in the last 2 games with a basic package.

hsrbaugh said that if he clears waivers it's a possibility he will be back on the field Sunday. I'm guessing that means at the very least they will bring him back on the practice squad.

Well, he didn't. Claimed by the Browns.

They can still snatch him back from the Browns and elevate him back to the active roster via IR of another player late in the season if they so choose.

He's on their active roster, not the practice squad. He's theirs unless they decide to cut him again.

Found this posted over in the blogs and thought I would copy it over here since it gives a different perspective.

Don't have a firm grasp on Mallet's talent level or potential, but firmly believe everyone deserves a second chance, especially for relatively minor transgressions. This isn't beating up someone or drug use. He lost his sense of duty, seems like a pretty good risk considering if it arises again there's a quick and easy resolution.

In limited views Mallet appears to have the same weakness that Flacco has, an inability to recognize quickly where the single coverage is. To recognize where his best matchup is. However, if Mallet develops that skill, it could get interesting.

Mallet is an enigma at this point. Let's just wait and see what we got. Either he turns out to be a great back up or a locker room nuisance. If it is the latter, the team won't hesitate a minute to let him go. I think that much must have been made clear to him prior to signing him.

Mallet is not a Ravens type player in the least. In fact, he's the opposite. He'll behave for a while, but if he ever gets to play, he will revert to being a PIA. And if he plays well, he'll be even worse.

If so then we won't get him back until the off-season. Thanks for the update.

Hard to gauge Mallet's talent level should be easy. He doesn't have any and has even less character. Looks and acts exactly like Ryan Leaf. Throw da bum outta here before things get ugly!

So, will he start this week?

I'd be surprised if he plays at all this season. If he does, I wouldn't expect it until the last game of the year. He's learning a whole new offense.

How long was Clausen here prior  to last week?

Just under 3 weeks, but that was also necessitated by Schlub's injury more than anything.  I think it's possible that Mallett could play, but I'd lean against it at this point.

You may be right, but I was thinking he might get an "audition under fire".

nah I'm positive he will see the field at some point. My guess is he might start the last two games. We're gonna try to get an early feel for next year and his arm is similar to joes so it will help with evaluating the receivers and what not.

Going off his interview I have no idea if he has really learned his lesson and is being genuine or is completely

Full of you know what. He kind of just puts off that arrogant vibe -but seems to be doing a good job of hiding it.

Clausen and Trestman know each other from Chicago, although I'm not sure whether he played any snaps before Trestman got fired.

Good point. I had forgotten about their connection.

It's going to be tough for him.  I'm not sure he's exactly the type of guy you can put out there without knowing the offense.  He has some heavy mental struggles already.

Gonna be tough for tray walker too. But we're going to see how some of these guys hold up when thrown into the fire.

I def see what your saying though.

I wouldn't be against seeing Mallett of course.  I just think it's going to be very tough for a guy coming into a completely new offense to get acclimated in time not only to play, but to essentially run the offense.  We got "lucky" with Clausen in that he'd been under Trestman before.  It's not an exact replica by any means, but there's definitely going to be some similarity for a guy like him.  Mallett may be working hard but it's still a whole hell of a lot to learn.  What makes it even tougher is that he's been known to be rattled under pressure previously.  I think it's clearly a move for next year with the slight possibility of them seeing what we have in the last game.
