Apparently Mallett was supposed to sign last week but he overslept.

Knowing our luck he'll oversleep on game day and not suit up. He'll wake up right after kickoff or something like that lol.

I don't like this at all. Like, honestly, there's nothing I like in this move. I really question it. I'm starting to wonder about our evaluators. I don't like this guy's attitude and think it could negatively affect the locker room.

Maybe if we had moved Hurst out of the LT spot earlier we wouldnt have an issue at QB right now. Just saying. That line was breaking down and to leave your starting QB like that out to slaughter week after week. It was just a matter of time.

I'd rather start Renner over Mallett, maybe we are signing him to punish him by having him play behind what our line has become?

I agree.  Somehow the guy thinks he's entitled to something, all I could sum up from him on Hard Knocks.  Boggles my mind.

Hopefully a fake. Zero reason to do this. The season is done. Its time to evaluate your backup to Flacco next year and the WRs and see whos worth keeping. And thats either Claussen or Renner. Id rather keep Claus around, at least he knows Trestmans offense. Renner can stay on the PS. We have Joe. We need a backup that knows the system and just in case Joe misses a game or 2 can come in and win one for you. Thats what a backup is for. OR theyre your future with a old timer at QB. But for us and the next 4,5,6 maybe more years the Backup is someone who knows the system and can win you a game or 2 in a pinch when your starter goes down for a short period. Youre starter goes down for the year and bye bye season. Period. Thats fact and been proven over and over.

Keep Claus at the vet min. Let Renner keep running the PS. Until his rookie contract is up or he shows something in PS that someone else wants and get your pick back for him. Thats it.

Disgusted that this clown will ever get to don the purple & black. The season is already over, why sign a guy who is the antithesis of what this franchise stands for, there isn't enough time for him to learn the playbook for this year anyway. If we kept him as a back up next year he would be hoping Joe tore his ACL again so he could start, that's the type of character Ryan Mallett has.

I can't ever recall being disgusted by a signing we made, this truly is the worst season in franchise history.

This is a really questionable signing. Please, please, PLEASE tell me what's wrong with finishing the season with Renner and Clausen. I don't want Mallett anywhere near this organization, let alone in a Ravens jersey.

My thoughts exactly. Marginally talented lockerroom cancer, you could tell Bill O'Brien grew to hate Mallett and his selfish antics and wanted him out of Houston ASAP.  The fact that Houston didn't even keep him as a backup tells you everything you need to know, he's a distraction and negative presence on the team.

Our evaluators are definitely concerning me. We only signed Forsett/Daniels because Kubiak pushed for them, our premiere FA last offseason was Kendrick Lewis.. it feels like every team we come up against has higher quality depth/rotational players. The fact that we would sign Mallett after what he pulled this season is a huge red flag, seriously one of the lowest character NFL players in recent memory.

...don't like it.  He's not worth the trouble to me.  Hell of an arm, but no idea how to use it.

Exactly. Is this move even confirmed? It just doesn't sound right lol

As much as injuries have hampered this year make no mistake about it, there have been a comedy of errors by the front office, poorly managed contracts, missed draft picks, poor use of cap space in FA. Letting Darian Stewart walk for Kendrick Lewis.. our front office is living on reputation right now a lot more than most team's as far as accountability goes. It's so hard to hold them accountable when they have such a rich history of success but at the end of the day you have to call a spade a spade.

Might be time to overhaul the front office, keep Ozzie/Eric and bring in some new people around them. I don't think we need to clean house but certainly evaluate the weak links and get this sorted out. There is zero reason to sign Ryan Mallett at this juncture of the season, it makes absolutely no sense after all his antics and poor show of character.

Hope this is a wake up call to some of the Flacco haters and what not. Being in this QB carousel is brutal, signing other teams castoffs and veteran QB's hoping for the best is terrible. I like having a consistent guy in Flacco to depend on ...
