[News] Late For Work 12/14: 6 Takeaways From Ravens-Seahawks Game That Have Future Implications

108 posts in this topic

1. There's no QB "controversy" over the backup cause both Schaub and Clausen suck!

2. The Ravens were never a Super Bowl contender this season whatsoever...prior to injuries!

3. I don't care what no one says...Monroe is trash!

4. If you don't want Carroll on top of the lockers...don't let him blow you out at home!

5. The secondary is trash and has been trash all season!

6. WE NEED PLAYMAKERS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL!!

Yes I believe that overall, our CBs are the worst part of this team....oh and they're the starters!! They should be the best guys on the field. I really liked Jimmy and was pumped when he came back but he is just brutal. And Webb is even more horrific, can he glue those dreads back on? I think he played better with the hair. He can borrow some of mine, I've been pulling it out all season watching him give up huge plays. CB first round pick please!!

Well, i am hoping Tray Walker is healthy and can show in camp if he was a worthy pick, and would love to see how Wilson can do when he comes back from season ending injury in camp at CB, both do bring good size to the position.....

+100. Last year w/ Kubiak (who everyone loved) we were ranked 12th in total offense.   Before yesterday's game we were ranked 11th in total offense.  So our offense is actually ranked higher than last year but everyone wants to blame Trestman, huh???

I think it's just the name that they hate. What he's been doing with what he's been given is amazing. Can you iImagine if he had the 2011,12 or 14 offense? We'd probably be around top 5.

The years almost over so that's the only good thing I saw coming out of this game.

1. Webb should play free safety or get cut.

2. Jimmy smith is still not all the way healthy.

3. Osemele should be our left tackle because drafting one is a 50/50 shot.

4. We need a top tier corner, pass rusher an another tackle.

5. Pees has to go, maybe we can get pagano back.

6. We need to bring in a good veteran wr like an Alshon jefferies that is coming in to his prime an can play for us for a long time.

Before Flacco got hurt, he was on his way to a career year...I think it is more to do with Trestmans play calling at certain situations in games, than the actual over-all play calling...JMO....

"He (Dan Brown) nearly put up his first career touchdown in the fourth quarter"

Oh, he already has. True, it was incorrectly called back, but to me it counts as a TD - because it was ;)

C'mon Bio, you know it doesn't count unless it's in the record book.Lol. He does seem to know how to get open though! That;s a welcomed change.

The secondary is pathetic. And it is pathetic because we just threw a lot of money at 3 out of 4 of the guys playing back there. Webb, J Smith and Will Hill were all locked down with big paydays. Kendrick Lewis was signed this off season along with Arrington both who have shown they aren't worth the cost of the uniform they put on each week. Everyone wants to hang Pees but Pees didn't give these guys all this money to be this pathetic. What the FO failed to recognize is it was the pass rush forcing the QBs to make bad throws and even then they couldn't catch an interception if it was handed to them (many times they were). Three years ago people started to make comments about how bad the secondary was and the FO office to bad corners is to give them more money. Mosley and Smith have given up in the middle and I would start sitting them and playing Orr and Arthur Brown. At least they would act like they wanted to be out there. I can't beat up the offense. Clausen played better than anyone thought he would, Aiken is impressing, Daniel Brown should have been on the roster starting game 1 and add Perriman and Steve Smith Sr and Wide Reciever isn't nearly as bad as cornerback and safety. If we can keep our young TE's out of the drugs and injury report and they should be good also.

We added Cris Matthews? That's a solid pickup, considering how clutch he looked in the super bowl. Perhaps he'll be our dark horse next January with Flacco. Rostering two extremely clutch dudes, ladies and gentlemen, is always good.

Agree. Flacco definitely should get credit for the numbers he was putting up considering what he had around him. People that have hated on Flacco are now getting a glimpse of what this Raven team looks like without him and it is not a pretty sight. What people are forgetting is that Flacco has had to deal with a different Offensive Coordinator for 4 years in a row and during that time, we have gone to the play offs and even won a Super Bowl. You can't say that about the other Qb's. Brady, Rodgers, Rivers, just to name a few have all had consistency in their coordinators AND had playmakers to throw to. Maybe now some of the haters will acknowledge the fact that Flacco has done a great job for this team- considering.

And we didn't get a call of roughness on the opening drive where Aiken took a hit to the head that knocked his helmet off. I guess he shouldn't wear his helmet so loosely on those "legal" hits.

I think we are good on offense maybe look at the o line. The main part of our secondary is the 10 yard buffer and no pass rush. When any QB has 5 or more seconds in the pocket he will pick you apart. Our secondary is not great but not horrible. When we put pressure on the QB our secondary looks pretty good. I agree get rid of pees we need to play aggressive not passive. We need to draft a pass rusher and secondary. With an aggressive dc then we will return to being feared not laughed at.

We put up 6 points. In no way was Clausen better. They might be equally bad, but we could have had Flacco and been dominated by that team with the sorry effort we saw from our defense. We need guys that get after it on defense. Not guys who shut down when someone hits them in the mouth. Maybe Harbaugh and Ozzie do not have a grasp of the talent we need to be successful on defense, but these guys are not going to get it done, and we haven't lost that many guys to injury. If Suggs was our defense, clearly we need more depth.

I completely agree with Bio on the secondary coach faults... I mean...EVERY FREAKING DB that comes and plays for us either dramatically regresses to lackluster play or simply wanders around the field like he doesn't know where he belongs... AND...do not forget pees three weeks ago said in an interview "they were trying things out trying to put the best combination of players on the field" ... isn't it being clueless as of WHAT YOU HAVE if you need all offseason, preseason and half of the season to basically evaluate your players??? man our d is screwed...

It's what happens when you have a DB coach with zero coaching experience. To me the weakest positions on the Ravens are WR & CB. Which position coaches have zero coaching experience? - the WR & DB coaches. Sure, they played in the NFL but that doesn't mean much.

Wonder why the Patriots can seem to throw any WR off the street and have success? Yes, Brady but also they have a WR coach that has coached the position for 20 years. And he never played in the NFL. Why do the Squealers have so much success at WR? Because they have a WR coach with 31 years experience. The Cardinals DB coach - 36 years coaching, Zero years played in the NFL.

Sorry, but Bobby Ingram (WR coach) & Chris Hewitt (DB coach) are not getting it done. That's where the coaching change needs to take place.

As with last week's Dolphins game, the most painful thing for me was watching us get burned by a rookie wide receiver. Perriman better live up to the hype next year.

Yesterday proved that KO is far too valuable to let go! Did anyone see him dominant? He can play LT and LG and we are possibly thinking he is out of our price range? I know it's early but getting a stellar LT is harder than a guard, which if we signed KO and traded Monroe, it would be a lot more realistic to get another top-tier guard in the 2nd round if needed as opposed to LTs going in the top 10 every year....just my thoughts....Pay the man!

Sorry, Patirots suck without Amendola, Edelman, and Gronk. Lafell is not a good reciever and Brady does not trust him. They started loosing once Gronk went down and it took him coming back for them to get a win against the lowly Texans who could have beaten them with a better QB.

I don't disagree with your premise that coaching needs to be evaluated, but Patriots with just anyone at WR is simply not true.

Can't wait for the steelers game. Our family trip to Baltimore to see a game over Christmas. Last year was our first. Win lose or whatever there is nothing like seeing our guys fight it out live in the BANK.

People bashed me when our receiving game began to struggle early on... and I said bring up Dan Brown. I got negs and comments like I was stupid. Now they're on the Brown bandwagon. smh sometimes. Lesson : Don't knock any idea because that opportunity could benefit you.

This off-season, we best be drafting new CB's & Safeties in the top rounds. Looks like the Pearl Harbor Crew out there, getting shelled throughout the game. Along with that, I agree with others calling for new leadership in the secondary and WR coaching level. It's not like we don't have quality players' they're just not playing at the level they need to and should. That's a coaching issue.

I still would like to see bryn Renner out there but the receivers, though still need much more work were a pretty good sign for the future. Aiken to me is not in our future sorry he's like a # 3 or 4 at best but butler and brown could be something pretty special in a couple years if we develop them right

From what i have seen in our secondary, aside from some technique issues, is they have been caught so out of position, it makes me wonder if they know the plays, or if our DC is calling the wrong defense for the formation the offense is in....
