[News] Kelechi Osemele Auditioning To Be Ravens' Long-Term Left Tackle

32 posts in this topic

I have been calling for this to be looked at for quite a few weeks now. The more frustrated I got with Monroe getting hurt so often and missing game after game, the more I've suggested on here that we should give this move a try to see if KO would be a considerable upgrade at LT. He's strong, a bit of a mauler, and plays with a mean streak. I noticed right away, as soon as our offense started, that Harbs had Finally decided to give it a try. His first year, at RT, he played well, and I knew that he played LT in college. I think, even though it was his first game at LT for us, that he definitely showed that he is better there than Hurst, and if he continues to play well there and improves, he very well might be worth trying to sign long term as our LT. I know he will cost us a fairly substantial bit of money, but we just Have to upgrade over Monroe. Monroe is NOT the answer for us at LT. KO might be. He has three more games to show us what he can do. I hope he plays well and that we can sign him. LT is the most important position on the OL and we have no choice but to get better there than Monroe. Good luck, KO. I'd like him to stay a Raven.

We need to save money by Cutting Marlon Brown, cut Pitta due to health, Trade eugene monroe for a 3rd or even 4th round anything just to get rid of his contract, reconstruct Flaccos contract, cut kyle arrington, resign k.o. and make him our long term tackle. Draft 1st round s/cb Jalaen Ramsey or Cb vernon Hargreaves, 2nd round get a wide reciever 3rd round draft a pass rusher and trade some of those comp picks to get another 3rd round pick

It's about time. I've been asking for 2 years if this guy could play LT. I mean seriously, how many more pitiful performances from Hurst and long-term absences from Monroe did it take to get to this point???? We should have tried this LONG ago with either Osemele or Wagner. Hell with him at LT, we might still have still had Flacco and a chance for the playoffs.

About time is all i gotta say....Been saying it for a while, he was a LT in college....But i imagine the fear is the contract, as a LT will get so much more than a LG in this league, and if he is the future it will come at cost, worth IMO....Should have waited on signing J.Smith to that big deal as he isn't even close to shutdown CB talent....

I am rooting for K.O, if he turns out to be a good fit then maybe our bargaining tool is in our favor. He will not get elite LG money then he can get decent LT money, is that possible

I loved this move. Jensen has not been bad at guard. I like urschel at guard or center. If we dump rarely seen Monroe I believe we have a good to above average o line. They will get better playing together. Seattle has a strong Dline and we did well. Our problem running was from them stacking the box. They would not do that with Flacco. I have to say Clausen played pretty good and we have some young talent at wr. Keep Aiken, D Brown they are showing up. Draft well. Heal well then we will be good next year unless the league screws us again with our road schedule and phantom penalties.

KO,Urschel,Zuttah, Yanda, and Wagner, could be a real nasty O-Line next year....Crossing my fingers that Oz does his thing, and gets him re-signed....Pay the man....:)

I was real high on this guy in the draft Ole Miss football player Robert Nkemdiche, until i heard he fell out of a 4th story window....

Well it would certainly solve some problems if KO can play LT... for 3 more games -_- Then he'll be a UFA, and likely paid more by someone else. Not sure why they didn't try KO at LT sooner; it was clear Hurst was terrible.

It will be interesting to see how he does over the next three games as teams game plan for him. I know Hurst has struggled mightily as a LT to say the least, in light of that I wonder how he would do at guard.... Just a thought to see if there is a position for him that works well.

He was definitely an improvement! I didn't notice the left tackle, which is always a good thing on the OLine, because you generally do when things go wrong. Jimmy Clausen hasn't left the game all bashed up, bruised and messed up six ways to Sunday, so Osmele did alright. I'm definitely in favor of keeping a guy like him on our roster. If there is anything that can be done to keep him, without impairing the team drastically elsewhere, it should be done. Keep KO!

Please keep K.O.! He actually did a nice job protecting Clausen's blind side against a pretty good pass rush. He's been in this system , he knows what it means to Play Like A Raven. At least give us as fans something good in this season.

If he plays well at left tackle there is no way we can pay him as he would make even more money than a guard. Franchise tag would cost way too much. There is no Cap room. He is as good as gone.

He might stay but I don't see how unless they drop/release/trade one or more other big contracts like Webb. I think I understand that Pitta is still on the payroll in '16. Would a release to retire type of thing end his current contract? For all the fans who applaud Jimmy' return with his Lisfranc problem both he and Webb have accumulated a bunch of highlight reels chasing receivers into the end zone. How on earth the team is still unable to even get coverage and assignment right is beyond me. Coaching? Maybe. Who hired the secondary coach? Free agents? Is it their problem they aren't good against good teams. Russell Wilson the best QB in history is the story line after three consecutive QBR scores including the Ravens. How could he miss? Open receivers in the end zone. Not on some trick play. And Clausen played well for not being on the team. Geez Joe struggled for months not syncing with receivers. And his stats were basically the same. Lucy there's a lot of explaining to do.

Dunno, I'd much rather be signing this guy at Guard pay rate than LT pay rate. Look at how much Monroe got paid by us, and that was for a guy who was dumped when Jax used their first round pick on another LT.

I would say NO to that. Heard to many sports people say he would be too slow for fast pass rushers.

Because they're always correct in their assessments of prospects...
