[News] Ravens Officially Eliminated From Playoff Contention

36 posts in this topic

Stop it with ANY mention of the word playoff. We were realistically all but eliminated from the playoffs by the middle of October.

It's been a frustrating season, but without Superstars, playmakers and leaders you don't land in the playoffs. We retired or cut our leaders after the SB...Oz it's time for change, we're not looking so hot as the Post Lewis/Reed Ravens...

Harbaugh has faith in his guys even when they are UDFA types that are out of their depth. Thats a good and bad thing.

...I'm glad we're officially done. Now we don't have to keep hoping on a prayer that somehow we'll make it in. Even if we did, we'd only embarrass ourselves in front of a national audience who'd be wondering how we made it in.

if we do continue down this horrible path of losing, I can hear people now, in the future saying, "ever since Ray Lewis retired they've been crap!"

Its over.  Its done.  Seattle had their way with us. I'm sure many of us want the season over and this Seattle loss was a bitter game to watch. .

Let's keep fighting the next 3 games and see where we end up. I'm proud of our Ravens players for fighting without complaints. Proud of K.O for manning the tackle position. Proud of Clausen for playing better than any of us expected. Proud of our WRs' Aiken, Butler and Brown for making big catches. Not proud of the way we went soft on defense especially in the secondary. We were bamboozled by the Seahawks. In any case, we'll fight through this adversity and be better off for it next year I'm certain of that. And finally, I'm starting a petition to stop Peter King from every using our name for any of his predictions.

Well, that's kind of the truth, isn't it? This team is leaderless, and Has been since Ray retired. Anybody who has played really competitive team sports knows just how important it is to have leaders on the team. Otherwise, success is just about impossible to attain. I challenge you to name One leader on this team. I honestly don't believe that we have even One. If a team doesn't have players as leaders, then it better durn sure have a HC that has the ability to step into that role. Anybody seen any evidence that Harbs has that ability? I haven't. In fact, unfortunately, I think that I've seen him get rid of a few players that just Might have had the ability to be leaders. Of course, not to the magnitude of a Ray Lewis. But Ray Lewis is in a class of his own. I doubt there will be another quite like him again.

We lost to a loaded team ready for a playoff run, all our stars are on IR, can't be so upset with this game. The Falcons lost 38-0 with Matt Ryan and the best receiver in the league. Credit to Harbaugh with a decimated team we have been in every game and players haven't given up.

That's said because people outside of Baltimore recognized that Ray Lewis was CLEARLY the face of the Baltimore Ravens and the CLEAR leader of the team hands down!

Nothing wrong with that!  Nothing wrong with having "The Guy" on your team and in your locker room.  People may hate to acknowledge it but Ray Lewis grew up with this Baltimore Ravens franchise.  He was a part of it since its inception and labored in it for 17 years!  17 years!  You just can't so easily or quickly replace a person like that, a player like that and definitely not a leader like him without experiencing some severe growing pains.  That's what the Ravens are experiencing now!  They don't make players or leaders like Ray Lewis anymore.  Cats like him are so special!

As fans, we've personally witnessed his development into a Pro Bowler and Future Hall of Famer right before our eyes.  And now that he...along with his running buddy...Ed Reed and a few others key figures are gone...the void of those intangible things that he and they brought to the table are being felt and may be felt for a few more seasons to come.

Well we should end up with a top pick in the draft. I am guessing 1-10 obviously depending how things wrap up for all the teams. If the season ended today I wonder where we would be slotted to pick?

We're out from the playoffs , So what? We had a season without our leaders. Stop being so pesimistic and give the new guys like clausen a chance to show us what they can do for the team.

Being that we have no postseason to look forward to here, I hope we can play the kind of football that will help us next year. I hope we find out how to get open in the red zone for TD's. I hope we find out when to run and when to pass for maximum efficiency. Also Seattle seem to know when to play against the run and they crowded the middle, knowing, not only when we were going to run, but where we were going to run. They must have done their homework, for sure. We all know that we like to run it straight up the middle and often. They (Sea.) played the kind of intuitive defense that shut us down, if not out.

Our wins have been by one score as well. So, I guess one could say that we could just as easily have had 4 more losses. Sad but true: We are as close to being winless as we are to qualifying for the playoffs.

If the season ended today, we would pick 5th.

We still have a horrible secondary, same as last season, even Webb looks mediocre a lot of times. I think Hill is the only one on the entire team that is decent consistently. Ozzie needs to concentrate on this aspect of the team, most QBs are picking us apart with ease.

Yes the season is lost and we can't make the playoffs. Let's finish these last few games with the players that's left and see who we can keep. Let's get rid of the players that are under performing and their upcoming 2016 cap space and use the extra cap space to sign proven veterans and use the Top 10 draft pick "WISELY" even if that means trading it away for 2 lower picks. Upcoming 2016 Cap Spaces that we need to discuss in the offseason for under performing players:

Ladarius Webb $9,500.000

Eugene Monroe $8,700,000

Jimmy Smith $9,600,000

Dennis Pitta $7,200,000

Ray Rice $9,500,000 (2015 Last year for Dead Money hit)

Haloti Ngata $7,500,000 (2015 Last year for Dead Money hit)

Jacoby Jones $2,625,000 (2015 Last year for Dead Money hit)

Terrell Suggs $7,450,000 (Need to make a decision on him as he's always injured now)

It was pretty much over after the Browns loss and even more so after Arizona. Then that ending against the Jaguars was the nail in the coffin. Got complete faith that this team will be right back in contention next year and this was just an abberation. A definite wake up call, but an abberation. If anything it will be better this way by Ozzie won't make the same mistake thinking he can put band aids on open wounds- we will have a top 5 pick in every single round- and we will have the 3rd ( maybe even 4th) place schedule again next year. Hopefully this time we don't get screwed on the scheduling , and maybe just maybe we can get a home playoff game. Really sucks that comp picks aren't tradeable until 2017. We would have made out like a bandit if it was this year. Moving KO to LT is a nice thought- but the tradeable comp pick is even further motivation to let him walk. We just won't be able to dish out the payday he's about to require.

I would move Webby to safety always felt he was Lil ed Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeed and #1 pick in the draft be a CB like Jimmy Smith! Two #1 picks on each corner is a good recipe to start with! Riding till the wheels fall off!,LET'S GO!

I think it's time to consider a top to bottom rebuild on the defense. Of course there is frame work there up front, but secondary is in near shambles. Too often the defense is in schemes our opponents sniff out fast and counter. Too often our defense can't adjust quickly to change. Something's gotta give. IMHO GO RAVENS!

Ozzie has missed on too many defensive draft picks recently. Matt Elam, Arthur Brown, Mosley (can't cover), Jernigan hans't been near as disruptive as we expected, Upshaw, Sergio Kindle, Terrence Cody, Tavares Gooden. He let Kruger and McPhee walk over the years, yet we need pass rushers desperately.

The Ravens were eliminated when they lost to Cleveland at home earlier in the season. "Next Year" quickly emerged as team performance continuously declined. Hope for rebuilding the Ravens is now echoed by sports writers in two words: "The Draft". Expect changes in the coaching staff and player roster for 2016 season. It will take at least three years before the Ravens regain their bravado and championship form. The real question is "Where did fun football go in Baltimore?"

Since we're officially eliminated from the playoffs, it's gonna tick me off to see all the Steeler fans take over the Bank in 2 weeks. Ravens fans won't show up since we're out of it, so the Steeler fans will buy up all the seats.  This sucks!!
