The Good, The BAD and The UGLY week 14--Seahawks version

152 posts in this topic

After our Cam Cameron years I'm surprised this hasn't been added to the profanity filter around here.

Rice was unlucky to be running behind literally one of the worst OLs in recent NFL history (PM me if you want me to get into everything that went wrong for him that season. This could take a while), but he'd also lost a step and is probably in pretty crappy game shape atm. I genuinely think you'd do better picking a guy like Jarryd Hayne off the Sailboats practice squad.

yeah your right. knowing the hawks front office they wont sign anyone and deal with what they have. i would be surprised if they sign anyone at this point. beast mode is coming back question is when. rawls looked like he was going to have a 200 rushing day. that is a huge blow to our offense. we all saw the play he just got twisted up after that 3 yard loss.

I really liked what I saw from Osemele at LT today.  If there is any possible way we can unload Monroe without taking it on the chin and resign Osemele then we may have our future LT.  I know it was just one game, but if we could have that happen and still get Tunsil or Stanley in round 1 then we would have a very good group of versatile lineman.

Not to mention the consistent throwing of little 3 yard outs on 3rd and long.

Just so we're clear, unless it's a play like a drag route or a fly route, the players determine the depth of the route. If Trestman calls an out route, the receiver will analyze the coverage and decide when he wants to break the route based on how comfortable he is that he can catch it and then convert YAC into a first down. Steve Smith was quite the genius with doing this on top of just being an absolute gritty player.

Interesting tweet about K.O. after the game "Osemele on LT being his future position: I sure hope so. I would definitely love to be the guy for the Ravens into the future."

I've been assuming he would be gone after this year. Maybe we have a chance.

We need to try to keep Osemele bad . We have so many holes elsewhere at corner ,receiver, safety , pass rusher (Suggs,Doom getting old) ,

tight end ( Gilmore can't stay healthy ,Pitta done, ) , that if Osemele looks like a winner at LT , throw some decent money at him .

30 rushing yards!!!! Thirty!

There is no excuse for that.

Second and third string running backs playing with a backup LT, LG,  and C playing against a top three rushing defense, but yeah, no excuse.

We probably can't afford Osemele.

Can we dump Monroes salary? not that I'm advocating it, just seeing if it's a viable option.

We need to cut some guys and Fix Flacco's contract that should free up at least $10-15 million. Hope that would be enough.

I don't know, if they post June 1st designate Monroe, that's like $6.6M. It pushes some dead money into 2017, but keeps a longterm LT option in the house.

We played lot of games with backups on the O line last season but we were making holes all the time. 30 yards is pitiful, no matter how you look at it.

Agreed here, so sick of this line of thinking. Of all of the players from that 2012 team that aren't here anymore only McPhee, Graham and Boldin would be of use to us, and realistically we were never going to keep McPhee or Graham.

Torrey Smith would be useful to us.  Adding Torrey and Boldin to Steve Smith and Aiken would have given Flacco plenty of targets.  Also now that Flacco is injured Tyrod Taylor would be an upgrade over who we have at QB.

Yeah but you would have to sign Osemele before cutting Monroe.  It is not like he is going to be around until June 1st.

Sounds nice in theory, but that money doesn't become available until that June 1st date.

I thought you could designate one player as a post June 1st and immediately receive those cap savings?

I don't think the cap activates till June 1st and when was the last time we have done a June 1st cut? I think we prefer to just outright release guys we don't want anymore. There are times we really could have used it but never done it.

Nope.  Only real rule is that you can only give 2 players the June 1st designation.  They stick on the cap until that date.

Bernard Pollard a couple of years back.

Well, that seems kinda stupid...

I think it just gives you money to sign your draft picks and other late cuts.

Just seems kind of pointless to not just hang onto said player until June since you get a 90 man roster, anyway.

Oh yeah, I still don't see the need to do it if we were to save that money from cutting Monroe for the rookie class, outside of that using a post-June 1st cut on him would be useless.

Well left tackles tend to make more money in free agency.  Maybe if Osemle plays well at left tackle he will get a bigger contract from his new team and the Ravens will get a better comp pick.

It's more of a courtesy than anything.  The idea is to still allow the player to get into the early parts of FA before teams fill their needs.

That's what I was kinda figuring, but with a player like Monroe, he still holds quite a bit of value because he plays at a premium position.

oh like being 4-12 or 3-13 makes any difference to pride..

we could really have done with an elite player like tunsil..

i know its not impossible ( tunsil) but i don't see the titans and browns winning another game..the chargers should have won today if floyd made that easy catch for a TD.

right now we have the 4th pick..not great value there

i don't want ronnie stanley..i just don't see him being anything more than ''good''..we need a lot more than good.

4th pick? Not a great value? You're trippin

You can say that again since most of the GM's picking before the Ravens usually get the pick wrong. for example the Browns.

The Good: Clausen did not get hurt and KO seemed to do good at LT

The Bad: Our special teams did not show up as much as we have been seeing in the last few games

The Ugly: Our defense except for a very few players
