[News] Ravens Place LT Eugene Monroe On Injured Reserve, Promote QB Bryn Renner, WR Chris Matthews

50 posts in this topic

no one will trade for him and if we were to cut him we would not save much so we can only hope he dedicates himself to getting back to the player we expect him to be and to work on his body to withstand the brutal afc north. hopefully his body will heal 100% and he will be able to give us a full season

Let's see if Chris Mathews can display some of that Super Bowl magic against his old team.

Would be awesome if harbs just through everybody off and started rynner on Sunday.

Great....another 6'5 or 6'6 WR "big target" on the roster. Now tell me how many of those have done any good on this team. Ever. I agree that they "should", but....?

I understand everyone's frustration with Monroe, but before he came here, he only missed like 3 games in four years with the jags. It was only until he got here that he became snake-bitten. When he did play(which was not much) he did well......better than Hurst. You still cannot really knock Hurst, since he was pushed into that position not being ready for it. Hopefully he will only get better in the future.

I'm not rooting for Clausen to get injured or implode for a second, of course - but I would love to see Renner in real NFL action. I don't think he would prove to be a miracle - but I would still love to see him out there.

Renner and Clausen should both start a game this year. We need to evaluate these guys in game action. Preseason isn't enough. We know that Schaub is a capable backup, but thats it. I really thought Renner took charge of the huddle in the preseason and showed good leadership.

Monroe is a tough situation.. because first, cutting him would mean an additional 6.6 million in dead money against our cap, and second, when he was out on the field playing, he actually wasn't at all bad - definitely much better than Hurst. The problem is, of course, that it wasn't too often :(

I want a Hippo-pot-a-mus for Christmas......but more importantly (and not to look ahead, but I cannot help myself), a nice, bruising victory against Pittsburgh- where it hurts !

He doesn't have a major injury history, he had some knee problems in college but they cleared up. A few more weeks on the offseason will help him heal up.

Why don't we start Renner? Clausen won't be here next season and we've all seen what Schaub's known for.

Nothing personal against Schaub, but I sure hope they can do better next year as far as a backup goes. He's just not the answer. He needs to ride off into the sunset. Giddy up!!

Schaub has hit a wall. Maybe he is just trying too hard or just not seeing the whole field of play. I kind of feel for the guy because he has talent and it just has not went his way the last few years. I would like to see more of Clausen and Renner they are younger and Renner and did look pretty good in the pre-season at times Not to mention if Seattle tee-off on defense whoever is in there better have their head on a swivel..

You know at this point there is nothing that would surprise me anymore...

Because everyone thought last year at the start of training camp everyone had thought for sett would be our starting running back of the future ray rice would be gone some kamar Aiken would be our #1 received and Daniel brown would be double moving people and scoring late in the year.

Struck gold with Darryl Smith. Struck out with Eugene Monroe. Let's hope next year's O Line: A) turns out to be stellar, and B) stays healthy. Joe is going to need a heckuva lot more protection next year than usual, given that he'll be coming off serious injury. Man, what a terrible, terrible year this has been!

Totally unimportant, but anyone knows which jersey number Renner has now? Originally he ha #2, but that number has been taken by Clausen since then. On the roster page here he still has #2, but I don't think we have two #2 jerseys the same time :D

Nobody thought Monroe would turn out like this. I remember reading an article about his shoulder and a problem since college, funny it didn't effect him in Jacksonville. Mabye offseason surgery is what he needs who knows. Disappointing that's for sure!

Ya I do hope Monroe can turn it around and get healthy next season. Just way too much money spent to be on the bench so much.

Oline will do fine. We need to use 5 wide and that will open up run game. Use the tight ends we have left as blockers. Our D needs to play lights out. We will be just fine

Time to find out what Renner can do! I don't think Clausen is the answer. No sense in playing Shaub any more because he gives up more points than he scores and we all know he doesn't have a future on this team next year so at this point, he's wasted space and finding out what Renner can do this early in his career against a good team would be invaluable I think. It would be better if he had someone to block for him but nothing like a little trial by fire huh? :-)
