[News] Late For Work 12/11: Pundit Predictions: Seahawks vs. Ravens

41 posts in this topic

Ouch. No surprise that zero pundits picked the Ravens to win against Seattle. Can't be any more of an underdog than we are this week. However, if the Ravens could scrape their way to a miracle win, I would be almost as excited as a playoff victory, given how few and far between the victories have been this year and that the Ravens are given no shot at all to win this game. Any given Sunday.....

"Of the whopping 58 experts below, not a single one predicted the Ravens will beat the Seattle Seahawks..."

This has trap game written all over it, and this exactly why we will win on Sunday. Our team may be all banged up, but I believe the boys we have out there don't know the definition of the word "quit," and will play their hearts out until the final whistle. I might be wrong... But I might be right.

Same way of thinking here too, I'm all in.......let's turn the table and make the Seahawks fall apart at OUR house and shock the nation. No, I'm not saying it WILL happen, just wishful thinking is all! It really would really make me happy though!!!! :sohappy:

Ok so what happens if clausen gets hurt?

Then we use Brandon Williams as a RB and let him run it up the middle every play. Maybe let Urban run a few sweeps to mix it up. Just keep it on the ground all game. Keeps the clock running.

If Clausen gets hurt, and Schaub is unable to play, we bring in our secret weapon...... SAM KOCH!

If Schaub is unable to play they will have to promote Renner from the practice squad. Either that or Ryan Mallett is sitting in a bathroom at the castle waiting for Ozzie's call. He is hoping for a Bart Scott miracle (refer to story of Scott hiding in Browns bathroom waiting for a call from Ozzie). I said before and people negged me that I believe Schaub is done as a backup for next year, Clausen has a noodle arm, Mallett goes into pouting fits, so they should be bringing in whoever they can to get a look and see who our backup is next year. We can't rely on a rookie drafted next year because there is no guarantee Flacco will be ready for the first game. To me these last four games should be tryouts to try and find a QB to start next season if Joe cant go and be a backup when he returns. That guy is not on the roster now.

One score game still... Ravens have a way to be the biggest pains in other teams' rear ends. Even during bad seasons the Ravens aren't that bad and I love it. Just think if we get a couple play makers next season via draft and free agency that will slide some of those close losses next season into wins. You can see the strong foundation of the Ravens organization even with their quarterback, running back, hall of fame wide receiver, and good tight end out for season with half the offensive line also out for the season. Along with their best defensive player. Here's to the trap game!

Wow, so Schaub is a miracle worker!

That is funny,  I am sure there are a lot fewer Flacco bashers after watching Schaub throw pick sixes and Jimmy Clausen set to start sunday.  Clearly Flacco bashers are getting a real look at what a bad qb is and lets hope that when Joe returns those people don't forget what this felt like.  Joe isn't great, maybe not elite, but he is a darn good qb and I hate he is injured, but for those who don't appreciate what they have until it is gone, a little appreciation to Flacco next year is in order.

Just wish it was primetime so I could see it live in HD, I'm still hopefull they don't cancel Ravens/Steelers in pirmetime, they shouldn't because no matter what that will be a close rock and stick fight, like always.

The best rivalry in football.

I like Matt, I don't wish injury on anyone, but I hope he can't start ONLY so that Renner can get on the active roster and have a shot at playing. I don't dislike Clausen, I really just want to see Renner in a regular season NFL game. What if he shines, brightly?

Sam Koch.  He's the next man up when all the other QBs are down.  And he can probably do better than Clausen...using only his feet.

While it has trap game written all over it its more likely than not to be a "crap game" which is why it was flexed out of primetime.  I've waited a few years to see what the Ravens could do vs the Carroll/Wilson Seahawks (because I thought they could really win) but not in the state that his team is in.  A healthy, SB caliber team against what amounts to Keanu Reeves' and his team in "The Replacements" is the stuff of fairy tales.

See above comments.  It would be nice to pull this off, but there's more chance of me being stung by killer bees in the North this time of year than a win against a resurgent SB caliber team.  Furthermore, I would expect this to be a one-score loss this time either.  It's no wonder that many Vegas oddsmakers closed their books on this one.

I get that fans of other teams are intimidated by the Seahawks and their swagger, especially on the defensive side of the ball. But it makes no sense for Ravens Nation to be intimidated. This is the House the Ray built. We can have respect for the Hawks, but let's not forget that there are only two fan bases that found the 43-8 score of Super Bowl 48 beautiful while the rest of the Nation was obsessed with fantasy dink-n-dunk non-sense. Us, and the 12th Man.

For more than a decade Baltimore exemplified complete and utter domination on defense. Swagger and attempts at intimidation by our opponents are things we brush off at The Bank.

I think the reason why so many want to see Renner is that we know what we are getting in Schaub and Clausen, they are both past Bob Poppa's '40 game rule'. What we don't know is what Renner will be like in a real NFL game. I don't know what it is, but some people need real life game time to shine. I don't want to turn this into a Tebow thing, but he is one of those people and I think Kelley screwed him worse than he screwed us this preseason (and that is pretty bad compared to the classless, clueless, weasel-like way Chip treated the Ravens). Tebow looks terrible at practices, but in games he wins.

[Don't believe me, search out the "real qbr rating" "Tebow", you will get to the article which discusses that stat which is the stat which predicts winning second best to only win/loss record. Think it is wrong? Check out Joe Flacco's Real QBR, and it is high right up there with Brady and Rogers and Brees, it helps explain why Joe is so good.]

I want to see Renner in a real game and what he can do, I want to see if he has that "it factor" in real NFL games. Tyrod looked good in preseason games for us, now look where he is....

It's unlikely, but how awesome would it be if Ravens won? I'd really want the Ravens to get angry and prove everyone wrong. Will you let the pundits diss you?

It would also be a nice Christmas bonus for Renner to be promoted to the active squad (maybe like $8,000/game to $40,000/game).

Why the Ravens can win: (Not saying it's likely because let's face it, it's not)

1. Richard Sherman & the Legion of Boom are the biggest reason the Seahawks are successful - they shutdown the other's team's WRs. Taking away the other team's #1 WR makes the other team one dimensional - advantage Seahawks. Enter the Ravens, we have no #1 WR and our receiving core can't get open anyway. We have found a way to make that work for us albeit with limited success. We don't rely on getting the ball to our main WR - that significantly reduces the impact of Sherman and crew. Now, of course, we are probably starting a 3rd string QB. But IF (GIANT IF), Clausen can manage the game without making mistakes, we have a chance.

2. The Seahawks have flown across the US and trust me, that time change is a big factor especially coming that way.

3. We are at home and we WILL be loud!

Any. Given. Sunday.

We can win because we compete in every game....We have lost to teams with better records on the road, Seahawks have the reputation we had over the last few years when we peaked, they have had a drop off, like most successful teams when they lose key players due to Free Agency or injury...Either way this team will leave it all on the field, and that's all any of us can ask for right now....I never bet against us, and won't start now because of how the season has gone....

Coach Harbaugh asked the fans to be loud on Sunday. When the decibel meter is put on the scoreboard, we have been woefully lacking this year compared to previous years. We need to show Seattle that there are other stadia with a 12th man besides their record setting one. Their fans hit 137.6 decibels. We have struggled to get much beyond 110 decibels this year.
