Totally happy for Tyrod!!

Tyrod Taylor Underscores A Cruel Twist Of Irony

But a cruel twist of irony with the Ravens’ quarterback situation is worth noting, as it feels befitting of a 2015 season in which seemingly nothing has gone right.  “Might be nice if Tyrod Taylor was still in town,” wrote The Baltimore Sun’s Alexander Pyles.  Taylor was Flacco’s backup for four seasons, but never had a chance to get on the field as Flacco was in the middle of his streak of 122 consecutive (regular season) starts. The belief was that Taylor was a capable starter, but nobody knew for sure … until he signed with the Buffalo Bills last March. He won the Bills’ starting job, and has them in playoff contention with four games remaining this season.  Interestingly, Taylor has been lights out in the fourth quarter. He owns the NFL’s best fourth-quarter quarterback rating (117), which, as Pyles and the Bills’ website point out, is better than MVP candidate Cam Newton (115) and future Hall of Famer Tom Brady (114.1).  Taylor’s not just playing well in the fourth quarter either. He has the fourth-highest overall rating (104.3), and is safe with the football. He’s only thrown four interceptions to 17 touchdowns this season. Let’s be clear. Nobody is saying Ravens brass should have kept Taylor in Baltimore. No realistic amount of money from Baltimore for a backup role was going to keep him from exploring the market and finding an opportunity to be an NFL starter.

The timing of it all is just cruel.

^ I'm happy for him as well.  Oh, the irony of it all!  Been telling people and his multiple haters in here that Tyrod was a beast and that all he needed was a legitimate  opportunity (not just as a gimmick or garbage time) to showcase his talents.  Baltimore was not "the answer" for him!  I was so glad that Rex and the Bills wanted and came after him!  Now, they are building an offense around him, turning him loose and not only letting him do his thing...but wanting him to do it-being himself!  And look at him now!

Go Tyrod Go!

Doom knew that the reporters knew he was right on the money. I can bet the League knows as do the corps of referees. Something is going on that we aren't aware of. I am not a conspiracy theorist, but with situations like ours, can you help it?

Very happy for Tyrod, though I think it took every season he had here, especially the last one with Gary [where Gary broke him of his run when the play breaks down habit] to get to a point where he could do what he is doing with the Bills. He looks great up there. He will only get better.

In my opinion referee calls are partially dependent on organizational clout-- you won't unfairly call a game against Belichick and Kraft without looking over your shoulder. Harbaugh and Bisciotti might want to bang that table at the summer meetings to say, "WE WILL NOT TAKE THIS AGAIN NEXT SEASON... OR IN ANY OTHER SEASON HENCEFORTH, GET IT RIGHT OR ELSE...".

Or else what? I'm just not sure what kind of consequences can be brought to the league by our team if the refs continue to screw us.

The league doesn't care, as long as eyeballs are on the TV screen and the $$ keep rolling in. Bad officiating overall might bring about change, if their $$ declines (not likely) and if they can make a direct correlation between that decline and shoddy officiating.

Officiating that is biased for or against one team will never be viewed as a need for action ... it is too difficult to bring solid evidence of such bias. Fans and players complaining will just be viewed as sour grapes and ignored.

Doom make a very salient point, and I'm glad he said it.

This is just my personal opinion, (and nothing against people that play if that is your thing), but I think Fantasy Football is the worst thing that has happened to the sport of football...it is the crux of this movement to a pass happy offense we've been seeing for years, along with defense-changing rule changes.  It hasn't become an 11 billion dollar industry without a push from the "real" game, lol. The question is where is the push coming from.

Now with the fact that Robert Kraft and Jerry Jones have a stake in FanDuel and DraftKings, questionable officiating over the last several yrs., the phrase "conflict of interest" takes on a whole new meaning.  It is just my opinion, and you may agree or disagree and that is fine, but the NFL needs to take a hard look at itself because a lot of things aren't passing the smell test, imho!

Agreed Mili, I've been pullin' for Tyrod all year! So happy he got his chance to prove his worth as a starting QB.

Yeah b/c what he does on his personal time is taking away from his practice.   [/sarcasm]

And I would disagree, Koch and B. Williams are definitely Pro Bowl worthy.

He does look good but what Tyrod is doing up there is what he's always been able to do!  Difference to me is that the Bills and Rex in particular want him to do it!  He's always been able to throw the rock with some accuracy regardless of how he looked in Baltimore during preseason games and a few garbage time games.  His legs are a part of his game and that element of it was sniffled in Baltimore.  When you have a Stallion you got to let him run so to speak. The Bills are utilizing him properly in my view and to hear Rex say to him.... "Work your magic kid" and to "Take off kid!  Take off!" when the pocket was breaking down around him in their last game was priceless! :D

I'm guessing you're being sarcastic. But in case you're not:

Extra Points : Coons 90%, Tuck 100%

FGs under 40yrds: Coons 100%, Tuck 100%

FGs 40-49yrds: Coons 86%, Tuck 90%

FGs 50+: Coons 0% (missed 1 att), Tuck 25%

Longest FG: Coons 47, Tuck 52

The schedule looked bad before we found out we had a bad team. It may look worse at this point, but it always looked bad.

I didn't think so at all. SOS wasn't overly difficult, and I had no issue with the way the games stacked up. Our own team wanted back-to-back WC road trips, and we were given that.

At the beginning of the season, I thought the schedule was frankly pretty favorable. First four appeared to be brutal, last four looked pretty difficult, and the middle was filled with a TON of winnable games. 3 of our last 4 are at home, and I've been told by practically everybody on here that December matters more than September (though I never bought this). If that's the case, then you've got a bunch of very winnable home games at the end of the season.

Winnable, that is, if your team is a competitor. The Cleveland Browns look at their schedule every year and think its brutal. Now we see why.

Players on teams with bad records rarely lead in votes. Nobody outside of Baltimore watching us. If that horrible offensive pass interference call happened to the Pats, Seahawks, Steelers, Colts, Broncos, etc it would have been the leading story on every NFL related show on tv.

Add in Yanda because he is the best offensive lineman in the NFL... Always underrated.

Tough times don't last, but tough people do!!!  Despite our record this year, we do have plenty of players that deserve a shot to get to the Pro Bowl!

Every season I see people denigrate the Pro Bowl, and then turn around and cite it as reasoning for us to contract a player because they were a Pro Bowler. You can't have it both ways, lol.

The Pro Bowl is a big deal for the players as it its voted on by the fans, coaches and more importantly the players themselves, it is an accolade that is added to a player's resume. It is considered to be a mark of honor for the players to be recognized as the best at their respective positions by coaches, fans and their peers.  It is also a great opportunity for players to receive national attention for their work ethic and game play that can serve to propel them to other accolades in the future due to their Pro Bowl recognition, (look no further than CJ Moseley and the Arron Donald situation from last year).  Not to mention that it offers an opportunity for extra pay; and time to spend with their families that is sacrificed during the regular season.   I will never forget the exhilaration on Forsett's face last year when he went to the Pro Bowl and was finally recognized for all his struggles and hard work. That is what it is all about.

We do have plenty of players that are deserving of that honor, and I would almost venture to say it is more deserved this season where despite a losing record our players have persevered, fought like no other with a "no quit" attitude in circumstances where against all odds they have given their all, imho. Isn't that what you want from a player, to give their all despite any and all circumstances?  I think so!  That is where character and leadership are forged.

Koch, Tucker, B. Williams, K.O., Yanda, Moseley and especially  D. Smith deserve a shot and many others, not only for what they have done this year, but for everything they have done in the past (as setting records, changing the game) as part of our Ravens.  Winning in the NFL isn't easy, but to put out effort and lay everything on the line when you aren't deserves credit too.

I love my Ravens and appreciate their efforts, sacrifices and moxy win or lose.  I have and will continue to do my part and vote till the voting ends and I hope some fans will join me!

PS. You can vote as many times as you like, last night I did 50 ballots, lol.

Me either!  To prove you are one of the "best" teams in the NFL you need to play the best!  The Ravens just weren't able to get the job done before all of the injuries took place.  And I've never thought September's game play was insignificant to December's.  That type of thinking is foolish to me.  You win as many games as you can prior to December and in December which will eventually set you up for a playoff run in January.

LOL, not quite. I was definitely in the majority. In fact, I even questioned several people as to why our schedule was so challenging, in August and even now, and I've yet to hear a legit reason.

Well thats not surprising. Most of the guys that deserve a nod are on IR, and since we're awful this season, our popularity has dropped which hurts the exposure for guys like Brandon, Koch, and Yanda who play low profile positions in the first place.

who cares about the pro bowl nowadays?? it's all a popularity contest and half the ppl who get voted don't deserve it. Megatron was voted in last year(i think it was last year) when he clearly didn't deserve it as there were many other better WRs at that point of the season. nfl should just stop the pro bowl but ofc it wont, i mean it's all about the money

In what way would the refs not calling offensive holding penalties on our opponents help that?

What teams can beat Brady?

Is that really surprising? Not a single Baltimore Ravens player is excelling at their given position this season. Certainly not enough to merit a Pro Bowl vote. Hence why we only have 4 wins. Then again, the way they've changed the Pro Bowl....it's a joke anyway. But the point remains.

I will say, that I would take 2015 Tyrod Taylor, over 2015 Joe Flacco, in a heartbeat. Neg away. But I knew the kid could play, and he's proving it.

I new this year was going to be a flop, u can tell for the most part from training camp, but next year can make a big difference with the drafting of a left tackle and free agency to rebuild the secondary by dumping jimmy smith not sure about matt elem. will hill is a keeper. but the have to do something about joe flacco's contract it needs to be reduced so we can by other players.

I never neg but I thought Tyrod could be a good quarterback if given the chance. But we have Joe not Tyrod so let's root for Joe. I could easily root for Tyrod as he is on my father's team but I root for my own team.

The Ravens have 4 players that should make the Pro Bowl. P Sam Koch, FB Kyle Juszczyk, DT Brandon Williams, and OL Marshal Yanda. If they don't go, something is wrong.

Agree, agree, agree with Dumervil. Let's just take the three most egregious calls that went against the Ravens this season: Number one - Missing the false start on Jacksonville allowing them to win the game. Number two - Phantom offensive PI on Brown against Miami, took a TD off the board in a game we lost by 2 points. Third - Phantom defensive PI on Will Hill against Oakland on a pick that would have sealed the game. That call allowed Oakland to continue their drive and score the go ahead TD. That would potentially be 3 wins, putting us at 7-5 instead of 4-8 and in the playoff hunt. You could add a few more, like the no whistle on the Chris Johnson play against Arizona, but I'm just naming the top 3 in my mind that I believe had a definite impact on the outcome of the game. Not saying we would go far in the playoffs with all the injuries and lack of talent, just pointing out that the Ravens have had a Murphy's Law season to end all Murphy's law seasons - tons of talent on IR, bad turf issues (see the SF game), and bad calls by the officials. As frustrating as this season has been, I have to give our team a ton of credit. We have been in every game, against good teams and bad teams. We will see how we do in this last stretch, but I have to say this squad has a bright future.
