Preemptive knee surgery?

Could we ever see preemptive knee surgery for football (or basketball) players, kind of similar to how high school baseball players have Tommy John surgery to strengthen the elbow joint?

 

I don't know how practical it would be but in theory reinforcing the knee joint (while they redshirt) would prevent a lot of season derailing knee injuries.

There would have to be an injury operation that proves the knee ligaments would come back strengthened. That's never happened so it probably will never happen

Me personally I would never let a doctor cut me open unless absolutely necessary.
