Week 14 Discussion (Other NFL Teams)

125 posts in this topic

The playoff picture in both the AFC and NFC are not much clearer heading into Week 14 of the NFL Season. Parity has indeed taken over as so far only one of the 31 teams have been eliminated from playoff contention, the Cleveland Browns.

Who will be the One Behind The One in 1-15?

Falcons @ Panthers: The Panthers had a scare last week in New Orleans and almost loss their first game of the year. This week they host the Atlanta Falcons are now on a five game losing streak. With a win, or Vikings loss the Panthers can clinch a first round bye.

Playoff Implications

Vikings @ Cardinals: The Arizona Cardinals look to secure their playoff spot as they can clinch with a win and Bucs/Falcons loss. They also can clinch the NFC West Title with a win and a Seahawks loss(Sorry Cardinals). The Vikings meanwhile are looking to stay in the hunt for the NFC North and a wild card spot.

Saints @ Buccaneers: The Bucs are looking for their second consecutive divisional sweep as they completed the sweep of the Falcons last week. The Bucs are a surprising 6-6 and looking for a wild card in the NFC.

Patriots @ Texans: After suffering a loss to the Eagles, and another Jets victory the AFC East is still there for the taking. The Patriots can beat the Texans on Sunday Night and clinch with a Jets loss or clinching a SOS tiebreaker over the Jets. The Texans meanwhile look to stay tied with the Colts for the AFC South.

Steelers @ Bengals: The Bengals beat the Steelers earlier in the year, and now a sweep will give them the AFC North Crown for 2015. Even if the Bengals lose and fail to clinch the division, they can still clinch a playoff spot with a Jets loss and Chiefs loss.

Titans @ Jets: As the above, the Jets are looking to stay in the AFC East race and facing the Titans will help them do so.

Colts @ Jaguars: Both the Colts and Texans are 6-6, the Jags nearly defeated an Andrew Luck led Colts in OT earlier in the season. Will the Jags be able to pull off the win and pull within one game of the AFC South?

Raiders @ Broncos: Brock Osweiler has a chance to lead the Broncos to the AFC West title with a win over the Raiders. The problem is they need a Chiefs loss, and a banged up Chargers team isn't going to help their cause. They can clinch a playoff spot if the Jets lose or Steelers lose.

Chargers @ Chiefs: The Chiefs look to stay in the Wild Card Hunt and look to sneak up on the Broncos and claim the AFC West.

The NFC (L)EAST

Bills @ Eagles: Thanks to DeSean Jackson there is a 3 way tie atop the NFC East at 5-7 between the Redskins, Giants and Eagles. The Eagles stunned the Patriots last week, and now look to beat the Bills as Chip Kelly who isn't going anywhere looks to stay in the NFC East hunt.

Redskins @ Bears: The Bears playoff hopes were shot when they lost to the 49ers last week. This week the Bears can prevent the Redskins from winning the NFC East.

Cowboys @ Packers: The Cowboys are a game out in the NFC East at 4-8. The Packers are looking to stay ahead of the Vikings in the NFC North race.

Giants @ Dolphins: The Giants are just so iffy in the regular season, you don't know what Giants team you will see on Sundays. The Dolphins meanwhile are now in the AFC Wild Card picture.

Anybody watching tonight?

I'm always watching the Thursday games (or Friday as the case may be for me) since I'm stuck in front of a screen anyway. The fact that this game promises to actually be decent is just a bonus.

Yeah I usually catch the Thursday games. This one should be pretty good. Kinda would like to see an upset.

I think Minnesota's kinda up against it tbh, given Linval Joseph, Anthony Barr and Harrison Smith are all out. But it's still gotta be a better contest than the Titans v Jags match a few weeks ago.

Damn. I wish Barr had fallen to us. He's turned into a good LB.

Give Minnesota another year or two. They're gonna be scary.

AP puts the Vikings on the board with his 100th TD of his career. Vikings now lead the Cardinals 7-3.

Just like that Carson Palmer puts the Cardinals back in front with his 30th TD of the season. That is now tied with Kurt Warner for a single season franchise record. Wonder if we will see another crazy finish at the end of game that we have seen the past several night games.

Hey refs from last week's Packers-Lions game, now THAT is a real face mask penalty that was missed by the officials.

It's amazing how last year, the Cardinals and Panthers played in what was called a horrible playoff game. A year later it seems they are destined to meet in Charlotte(barring a losing streak by the Panthers) in the NFC Championship game.

Would love this matchup. Two of the least obnoxious teams in the league, a win-win for sure.

Unfortunately, both are in the NFC. Otherwise, I wish they'd play in the Super Bowl.

Hopefully one of them is in the SB against Denver or KC.

I doubt it happens, but it could be interesting if the Super Bowl ends up being the Bengals vs the Cardinals. Palmer not only beats his former team during the season, but gets to be the one to keep them from becoming champions.

As a Bengals fan, I've accepted the fact that if the Bengals do indeed actually WIN a playoff game and somehow manage to get in the Superbowl, they'll fave the Cardinals against Carson Palmer and he'll beat them.

I guarantee that's what is going to happen if Cincy somehow manages to make it there (we all know that's a very big "IF"). Carson Palmer will take them down.

**Side note- I don't think Palmer has ever won a playoff game either. He lost 2 home playoff games in Cincy, and hasn't been back, I think. So, the odds of 2 QBs (Dalton, Palmer) who have lost every playoff game making it to the Superbowl are very low indeed.

Long ways to go from today. Speaking of today, ruin the Steelers' playoff chances and beat them.

Dalton is OUT for the game. Oh no.

My fantasy team is now done. Ugh and I'm playing the guy who has Cam Newton to make it worse.

Browns up 10-3 over the 49ers. If they win they will be in a 3 way tie for the first pick at 3-10.
