[News] Eisenberg: A Cautionary Tale About The Difficulty Of Staying On Top

18 posts in this topic

Great article John........ As much as this season has beaten me, as well as many other fans into the ground, I still keep cheering and hoping things will straighten out this season..... Too late most likely for this year, but I will always be here on gameday in front of my t.v. cheering for them like they are division leaders...... :)

The Seahawks are better than the Ravens because they have more talent on their roster not to mention Pete Carroll's wisdom and guile as a HC.

Their secondary without question is more talented. The rest of their squad is debatable. The division they are in flat out sucks year in and year out with the exception of the Cards since the hiring of Arians.

So how many are out? 18 starters on IR? Including our Franchise QB? Yeah it's amazing we are 4-8 lol! Pretty soon the equipment guys will be suiting up. These things happen, so we drive on, and dream of next year when everyone is back and after a great draft. Meanwhile....this is awesome testing ground and experience for the young guys. Like they say, if it doesn't kill you (it won't Raven Nation is too strong), it makes you stronger! GO RAVENS!

When the Seahawks went all the way a year after the Ravens, they had a younger team, and thus, did not have to follow Baltimore’s course and try to rebuild on the run – a process that was going pretty well until this year.

^ Whoop!  There it is!

Harbaugh is hands down better coach than Carroll. Don't blame the coach for the injuries suffered to our best players. We as fans are totally spoiled. We are used to the push to the playoffs this time of year. It is almost impossible to be in the playoffs every year especially in our division. Go Ravens!

It's quite clear what happened the key players that made this team dominant are gone and there have been no replacements, they have fitted bits and peaces in through free agency and the draft but those parts were minor supplements. They need to find the solid team leader type players and develop a new nucleus that will bring this team back to what it was.

The Ravens have won the Super Bowl roughly 10% of the time (give a few months) since entering the league in 1996. Not too bad, but with that comes high expectations. This season was tease for the players and fans, they all know the Ravens can and will do better "next year". Speaking of next year, let's do a couple of things to prepare for next season for example: try different offensive sets, no huddle, trick plays, reverses on punt and kick-off returns, etc., anything that makes us go "Wow" for a change. Bring back that bravado that is signature for the Ravens. The defense must do whatever it takes to make QB sacks. The rest of this season is an audition for next season. Gone will be the players and the coaches that fail to rise. Happy Holidays to all!

That does not say much about the Ravens who will be 1-3 against that division. You do realize Seahawks were in the last two SB?

Parity is the key and the NFL has done quite a bit over the years to allow each team to have a shot each season. I think they've done a pretty good job at that until it appeared they started involving the refs to "assure" parity, if things aren't going their way.

IDK, I guess we have to come up with another formula when it comes to scheme, coaching and players. In order to have a dominant defense, we'd have to take a hit on offense and visa versa. Not enough picks and money to go around. If you try to do both, you end up with neither side of the ball being that good. We have to find those guys (Like we have in the past) that are diamonds in the rough and that calls for our scouts, trainers and coaches. Seems as soon as we get some great coaches in here, someone steals them and they take a few of our good players with them. THAT's what I think has held us back the past couple years, more than busts on draft picks. We have to find a way to keep our good coaches here. JMO

nbc took this game out soley bc of the ravens. the seahawks are a very popular team but without flacco, who is the star of this team (excluding lineman)-- thats a fact. no one wants to see a team void of someone they can market. when the ravens played the brows, the commercials were about hyping up manziel- no one on the ravens were featured in that commercial we're now good citizens, staying out of jail this year, but were also a team with really no one now, esp since suugs, ngata and torrey are gone. after flacco, our kicker is probably the next popular on this team right now.our team is in a big mess, and sorry- we dont make the playoffs next year either. should've kept torrey, ozzie, and let steve smith go- but know harbs love steve smith- and see where we are now with him-

The Ravens are in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL. I think that's been said many times. Even with our pitiful record this season, in some divisions we'd be in the race. Not sure that would be a good thing. We need to get strong with good draft picks and more money. Look at the teams that were weak for years that are now getting stronger because of it...the Raiders, even the Jags and Titans. The system is flawed but I'd still rather have it this way than the way of professional baseball where the same teams win year after year after year. The Ravens have a solid organization and good ownership and that is the real key to success in the NFL. Amen.
