Next year looking very bright

132 posts in this topic

We've been in each and every game this season until the final minutes with banged up players, practice squad WR's, an inept DC, new OC, furious injury bug, injured heart of the defense and quite possibly the team, limited cap room, absent 1st round pick and other various things. If even half of those problems don't occur next season we're right back in the playoffs.

most definitely looking bright for next season.

The team will be good next season, and this years debacle is a good lesson for some of the young guys that havent experienced what its like or what it takes to get through it.

As ive said in another thread..our shedule isnt all that daunting next year either.

Our home opponents (minus divisional teams)

Eagles L

Redskins W

Bills W

Dolphins W

Most likely-Oakland(AFC West 3rd place) L

Away opponents (Minus divisional)

New England L

Jets L

Giants L

Cowboys L

Most likely-Jaguars(AFC South 3rd place) W

Not a team on that schedule that we cant beat heck we'd give any of them a run for their money right now if we played them today.

8-8

If ravens get Tunsil and retain KO and avoid the Injury bug and pick up a receiver round2 and maxx follows through with his goal to reshape his body I see 13-3. The offense will control the ball and carry the defense. Will take about 8-9 games for everything to fire on all cylinders but then the ravens run the table from that point on. The oline, run game and balanced offense will wear teams down and own Quarter4 every game.

They also have QB, RB and TE who are playing lights out.

Even his wide receivers are playing really well. I'll watch Carolina games and I'll routinely hear, "Ginn wide open in the end zone for a touchdown!" We never hear of a player being wide open for the Ravens...

Not to mention that Oher, Turner, and Kalil have been playing exceedingly well

Harbs personally likes KO and was very adamant about keeping him. Chargers and titans could still win a couple games if QBs get hot. I just do not see how ravens could pay that overrated scrub Jimmy then let a top5 guard walk!! If Jimmy is on this team and ko leaves look forward to another losing season!! That is the trademark of bad teams!! Bad drafting,Let impact players leave while overpaying scrubs and aging declining players big money. Look at the colts. Pagano does not need to get fired. Colts need to fire their moron of a gm!! The clown trades #1 pick for Trent Richardson. Drafts a loser like Werner round1. Is there anybody that saw a stud player??!! And overpays big money to a 32-33 yr old running back and 35 yr old 14 yr vet receiver. Ravens got lucky with SS!! At least he was not payed big money like Johnson if he was a flop. Yet those clowns have coaches on the hot seat!!

But the thing is first of all jimmy is playing hurt just like rick Wagner is, second of all you said trademark of bad teams like we are a bad team... 6 of 8 years in the playoffs 3 AFC championship appearances and a ring too... That's not a bad team last time I checked...See from what I'm seeing is your philosophy is by overpaying bad players the solution is overpaying good ones too?

And I want to hit on drafting sure we've had our misses in these last few years (Sergio kindle, Arthur brown), but I mean look at who we have picked up these last few years... Dumervil for I think 32 million... Canty for cheap... Steve smith sr for cheap... Juszczyk in the fourth round... Kamar Aiken as a free agent... Will hill for the league minimum and extended him for cheap... Forsett from the dumpster wiped him off now resigned him for cheap... Sizz's contract we have whittled down these last few years... Picked up CJ Mosley... Picked up Small school Brandon Williams in the third round... Picked up Timmy jernigan... Lawrence guy off the streets... Lets see Wagner was like a sixth round or fifth rounder... Urschel was in the sixth round... Zuttah got in a trade... And were getting maybe over ten draft picks next year due to compensatory picks... In my book ozzies doing a great job... We can't have 53 ed reeds or ray Lewis's or Jonathan ogdens

I'll say the year is bright for the Ravens when it actually is!  Not beforehand!

News about how they look in the Mini Camps, OTA's, Preseason games or weekly practices mean absolutely nothing to me UNTIL they demonstrate that they are a championship caliber team on the field week in and week out during the regular season.

So...I'll just wait and see what a new season may bring!  Hopefully, nothing like this debacle of a season.  My goodness! :bag:

injuries...

My point is you'll never know until we're there. Off season will be big. Between Flacco's extension, SSS return/retire, FA moves and the draft, it will be interesting to see how everything unfolds. Will we even keep Arrington?

Probably. We could use a slot cb when Webb leaves and Arrington is only good at the slot lol.

For us it could be worse tbh.

Next year, can you imagine Waller and Daniel Brown, Gilmore, and Max Williams apart of our redzone package? cant wait to see that.

Ugh, hope to never see that.

ill have to somewhat disagree. until we get a FS who isnt a liability to give up a deep completion on any given snap, until we get a DC who can alter his scheme to his players and make halftime adjustments, until we get depth at OLB to give us pass rush in the event that our old duo gets hurt or worn down, until we can avoid the injury bug, until we find a LT who can play more than a 3rd of the season, until we get a WR who can separate and catch the ball, until we can commit to a blocking scheme and have it work consistently, until we can learn to play with some discipline and not commit dumb penalties, we will struggle.

i think it is a lot more than just injuries affecting us, it is coaching, a lack of discipline, and a lack of talent. by the time we fix these issues, half of our remaining talent will likely be on their way out of town with fat contracts elsewhere, or forced into early retirement due to injuries.

with flacco and an OL keeping him upright, i think we always have a shot to be competitive, im not saying we are doomed, im just saying our issues are deeper than just a few missing pieces. the salary cap only getting a minor increase hurts us badly too, were gonna need to do some maneuvering, and hopefully that doesnt put us in cap hell in the future.

on the brightside, we have a foundation, and an identity, we are now an offensive minded team focused on getting the ball to 2 young stud TEs with a young promising runningback who already looks like a polished veteran, and we have a ferocious rotation on our DL, that is something to build on, and if we string together a few healthy seasons and a few successful drafts, then we can be looking at a bright future, but we havent done that yet and until we do its hard to feel overly positive. i do have faith though

Flacco has got to learn to move not just stand there flat footed and throw off his back foot to two defenders a game like he did this year. Maybe he can work on that in rehab.

acl therapy with smart qbs typically leads to reinventing mechanics. Also he is learning a new system with bad receivers and his back side was always being pressured, he was playing jittery this year and it's understandable, although he had moments where I'm just like "what?"

I noticed the trend this year, seems like something was missing. I don't know why he was throwing like that except that those games weren't playoff games lol

Offensive line seems to me what lead him to start looking desperate on his throws.

That's the WR/TE scenario you'd hope to see on the field?

pretty sure he meant red one packages with so many players being 6'5+
