Next year looking very bright

132 posts in this topic

I am not sure where other fans stand but from what i have seen from our defense and our Tight Ends and Running Backs we do have a lot of great things to look forward to next season.

The defense is looking like it will be very dominant and our base offense looks like they can and will fight for every extra yard they can get.

I am so very proud of the way the young guys are stepping up. Aside from Schaub we totally owned that game.

Special teams has looked sharp all season and i see no reason why the rest of the season of playing time can do nothing but allow them to grow and get the timing down etc.

The biggest issue i think we need to overcome is the penalties which has stopped many drives for us and extended drives for opponents.

Im with you on this.  I think it says a lot about our team considering how close every game has been, every game decided by 8 or less is no small task considering how are year has gone.  Still a little worried about the wr position but excited to see Perrimen, someday.

There is a lot of people on here that dont really understand the concept on how things work, especially when they keep saying to cut certain people and just want to be negative.  I dont believe im a homer, i like to be realistic, i think we will be just fine and yes we have issues, a lot of teams do, just a bad luck year that could easily have our win and loss column switched if it wasnt for fluke plays, etc...but thats how it goes sometimes.  So to conclude, i share your excitement, very much so.  I think Gilmoore is going to be a monster

I'm sorry but in what way is our defense looking like it will be a shut down defense next year?

Probably are going to lose D Smith. Granted we do have some young unknown guys that MAY fill in positions well. But we also have K Lewis, has been terrible, Webb, another year older, Jimmy, compared to his contract is playing badly, Doom, another year older, Suggs, coming off major injury and another year older.

Our defense, I think will be bad again unless we do a major overhaul. People are getting hyped up because our defense has done somewhat well since the bye. But if you really look at it, we have played some real bad offenses.

We do have a lot positives to look at, but we need to finish games honestly on both sides of the ball. It not bad offensive Team we are playing, we are not defensively scheming to take away their game plan

There are a lot of positives to look forward to on both sides of the ball but I don't think there's been enough done to say the defense will be dominant.  Most of these players will be back next season and they aren't exactly setting the world on fire currently.  They've been playing average offenses overall.  The Steelers game will tell the most, along with the Bengals.  I'm not even that demanding.  Hold AJ Green to under 150 yards and/or less than 2 TDs and it'll be a success.....sadly

I agree somewhat, when we were only missing Suggs they still played horribly. Wright seems to be getting better by the game though. We need to replace Lewis and pick up another CB and add another pass rusher.

On O we need another WR or two if Smith retires. Also who knows if they keep KO. I mean we are definitely in need of key pieces.

most definitely looking bright for next season.

The team will be good next season, and this years debacle is a good lesson for some of the young guys that havent experienced what its like or what it takes to get through it.

As ive said in another thread..our shedule isnt all that daunting next year either.

Our home opponents (minus divisional teams)

Eagles

Redskins

Bills

Dolphins

Most likely-Oakland(AFC West 3rd place)

Away opponents (Minus divisional)

New England

Jets

Giants

Cowboys

Most likely-Jaguars(AFC South 3rd place)

Not a team on that schedule that we cant beat heck we'd give any of them a run for their money right now if we played them today.

Grab Myles Jack at 33 if we are lucky

Watching Dallas/Redskins game last night, i could immediately tell that we are far above a better team than most 4 win teams right now.

We have talents.   We need to get back on track and get our guys in top shape.   Get a new turf, hire a better conditioning coach, recovery team, tackle avoid coach w/e.   We already have most of the pieces to be a contender.

We have some really good young talent on offense with both RB and TE. Daniel Brown, Waller, Givens, Butler, and Aiken all deserves a shot at a WR spot next season. Perrimen and a new WR draft pick at WR will add competition but may not really need to do so until 2nd -3rd round since the WR could eventually show its value by next season. We double dip at DB by possibly moving back in the draft (Hargreaves, Kearse, Ramsey), we could sure up the secondary for the long run. We add a WR later in the draft(Boyd, Sheppard) along with line and OLB help and we could be right back in the champ hunt in 2016.

ill have to somewhat disagree. until we get a FS who isnt a liability to give up a deep completion on any given snap, until we get a DC who can alter his scheme to his players and make halftime adjustments, until we get depth at OLB to give us pass rush in the event that our old duo gets hurt or worn down, until we can avoid the injury bug, until we find a LT who can play more than a 3rd of the season, until we get a WR who can separate and catch the ball, until we can commit to a blocking scheme and have it work consistently, until we can learn to play with some discipline and not commit dumb penalties, we will struggle.

i think it is a lot more than just injuries affecting us, it is coaching, a lack of discipline, and a lack of talent. by the time we fix these issues, half of our remaining talent will likely be on their way out of town with fat contracts elsewhere, or forced into early retirement due to injuries.

with flacco and an OL keeping him upright, i think we always have a shot to be competitive, im not saying we are doomed, im just saying our issues are deeper than just a few missing pieces. the salary cap only getting a minor increase hurts us badly too, were gonna need to do some maneuvering, and hopefully that doesnt put us in cap hell in the future.

on the brightside, we have a foundation, and an identity, we are now an offensive minded team focused on getting the ball to 2 young stud TEs with a young promising runningback who already looks like a polished veteran, and we have a ferocious rotation on our DL, that is something to build on, and if we string together a few healthy seasons and a few successful drafts, then we can be looking at a bright future, but we havent done that yet and until we do its hard to feel overly positive. i do have faith though

I think there's one big change needed if we want to be more successful next year. We need to "make peace" with the officials.

It would be even better if they start doing their job properly.

I know fans will latch onto every bad call made against their team and selectively forget any calls that went their way. But this year, the disparity seems completely out of whack.

I refuse to claim any league-wide conspiracy against us, but we've gone beyond the law of averages. I think the officials have: 1) allowed our reputation as an undisciplined team to change the way they view us and because of that, they put us under a microscope and call the smallest of infractions (real or imagined) and 2) determined they don't like that Harbaugh has been less than kind in his assessment of the officials.

How do we reverse this trend? I have no idea. In a lost season, it is easier to live through, but can you imagine some of these gaffes (if that's what they are) happening when we're contending for a division?

Givens,Brown,Waller,Aiken and Butler GOOD young talents?? There is nothing to suggest any could be counted on to be starting WRs!!

Add a playmaker or two on both sides of the ball and we will be right back in contention. We need some ballhawks in the secondary. Turnovers is what wins games. Carolina has the highest turnover differential and it's no surprise they have the best record.

Agreed JJ but they also need to be able to catch and hold on to the damn football when it hits their hands!

If we lose daryl... Really liked him since jacksonville, but big whoop he sucks in coverage anyway i believe we are prepared for zach orr to step in and ball out, kendrick is exactly like stew was last year, we all thought he sucked until late in the year and what do you know he has started to figure things out over the last few weeks. And if your complaining about a hurt jimmy smith... The only player in our secondary who can catch a ball in webby who has been actually been having a pretty solid year... Shareece wright who has been solid as can be since SF and will davis who was ballin before we got hurt... I mean come on this secondary can be nasty next year... And would you want suggs and doom across from one another next year or not i mean come on the B Will contract situation is looming on us though... I really hope we keep him and CJ.

I understand the likes for brown givens and butler... But honestly i cant see them making our roster next year or waller too for that matter... I believe this team will really like kaelin klay and reserve a roster spot for him as a returner throw in breshad kamar i cant see leaving and lets be honest do we really think steve is gonna go. You get a reciever in the draft and thats it... Think if dennis comes back next year... We could possibly come into next season with 4 tight ends and 3-4 running backs depending on lorenzos health... We wont have the need to have 6 wideouts with the talent we have at tight end and fullback we can run 2 tight end sets with or without a fullback and be perfectly fine.

and you know the crazy thing about it. As far as I can remember we have been one of the more disciplined teams in the league I know last year we were like top 5 in least penalties called... Maybe these refs want to just see us lose. Makes you wonder if there is a Tim Donaghue scene going on with these refs behind closed doors

The 2014 team in its prime could probably go around 16-0 with that schedule.

Next years success depends entirely on free agency and the draft, if we don't make impact signings and picks expect another lackluster season.

My concern is we have a few guys in key positions who cannot seem to shake the injury bug. Timmy Jernigan is an example of pro bowl type talent who is always banged up, it affects his consistency and long term prospects.

I don't mean to be a debbie downer, but, weren't we all saying this at the begining of this season and then look what happened?

After this season, I'm not getting my hopes up at all. I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than be excited and get let down.

We have a core.

Perriman

Maxx

Crockett

Boyle

Buck

West now

Yanda

Wagner

Monroe(when healthy)

Zuttah(When healthy)

Forsett

Flacco

Jernigan

Davis

Williams

Mosely

Jimmy(yes, I think he'll come back strong after this season)

Will

We're missing a few pieces sure. But there's room to be a great team in there. We could use a real FS even if he's only average. Another outside CB would do us well. Another pass rusher and another WR.
