Dubs Mock and Big Board v.1

107 posts in this topic

Just want to give it an initial go. Big Board is Ravens specific (ex. I drop QBs heavy because we have Joe--I actually quite like Paxton Lynch...factors other than need are included such as fit, playing style, attitude, etc.)

Big Board

1. Joey Bosa | DE

2. Vernon Haergraves | CB

3. Laremy Tunsil | LT

4. Ronnie Stanley | LT

5. Jalen Ramsey | S

6. Emmanuel Ogbah | Edge

7. Mackensie Alexander | CB

8. Laquon Treadwell | WR

9. Jaylon Smith | LB

10. Robert Nkemdiche | DL

11. Corey Coleman | WR

12. DeForest Buckner | DL

13. Andrew Billings | DL

14. Tre'davious White | CB

15. Jarran Reed | DL

16. Myles Jack | LB

17. A'Shawn Robinson | DL

18. Michael Thomas | WR

19. Taylor Decker | OT

20. Reggie Ragland | LB

--Not gonna lie after 6 was rough and very fluid for me

Draft

Round 1) Vernon Haergraves III | CB | Florida

- He is one of my favourite guys to watch, there really is not much you can say bad about his game. I hope we get a shot at him come draft day.

Round 2) Tyler Boyd | WR | Pitt.

- I would love to see us where the best depth is at this point. For me it is likely WR with a combo of Michael Thomas, Doctson, Coleman, Boyd being there. I also think there will be great depth at interior/34 DL..it is a loaded draft with guys like Buckner, Jarran Reed, A'shawn, Billings, Kenny Clark, Jonathon Bullard, Adolhphus Washington and likely more.

Round 3) Darian Thompson | S | Boise St.

- My personal favourite at safety and may be the most productive in terms of getting turnovers. We need guys who can make plays on the back end badly. We could have a secondary for the future if we got both him and Haergraves.

Round 4) Carson Went | QB | North Dakota St.

- It is rough not having a decent backup QB, we have a ton of 4th, Went is a guy wh impresses me. Has really nice knee bend for such a big guy and I think he will go higher than this. I do think we should address the QB position somewhat early going into this draft

Comp. Round 4) Joshua Garnett | OG | Stanford

- I just like the way he plays the game, he knows how to take angles, seems well coached and I think he could easily slide in as a starter early on in his career

Comp. Round 4) Matt Judon | Edge | Grand Valley State

- Not sure where his value is but a small school guy. Has a nice dip move, rolls his hips through his bull rush and looks to have all the athletic tools to make the transition.

5) Devon Cajuste | WR | Stanford

- Really big frame, not sure how teams will look at him but he has great hands, blocks well for a WR, has experience lining up in the slot and out wide. Seems like a solid football player

Comp. 5) Kevin Peterson | CB | Oklahoma St.

- I really am not a fan of our secondary and we need depth in every single way. Peterson seems so underrated, has tons of experience and plays with a great attitude.

Late rounders as trade material

If we go anywhere in FA I hope it is at Edge for a guy like Bruce Irvin, Olivier Vernon, Mike Neal, or Vinny Curry. However, I think we go the usual and not do much, hope Suggs comes back healthy, Doom back, Ladarius one year in and sign someone cut or on the cheap

vh3 over tunsil is a headscratcher to me but to each his own, i also have soured on stanley since he got worked pretty good by shaq lawson, it just highlighted my biggest concerns and now i worry about him handling guys with grown man strength in the NFL. i also really dislike corey coleman and wouldnt touch him until the late 2nd, overrated and overinflated. i like your ranking of alexander, big fan of his, and as far as ravens specific i wouldnt touch jaylon smith over myles jack, he just doesnt look like a fit as far as what we look for in a ILB. overall i like the board though.

also i like your mock, im not sure thompson goes that late though, hes getting 2nd round buzz.

I like pretty much every player in the mock, id love to get Wentz in the 4th but I don't see it happening seems like a lot of people like him and some are even talking him up as a first rounder.

I flipped on VH3 and Tunsil several times so I can say that is a close one--in the end I just get so excited about having a potential Haden type player...On that though I see a lot of Orlando Pace in Tunsil which is something special.

I agree with Stanley, I have the exact same concern. I just have bigger concerns over guys like Ramsey (attitude and ability to play centre field and have the movement to get outside the numbers/hashes), Ogbah and Alexander I love and very well may take Ramsey, Ogbah and Alexander over Stanley. As you say that it is worrisome to think how Stanley would match up against guys like James Harrison (albeit he is going to retire soon), Dupree and Carlos Dunlap. In many ways I think Stanley could be a spitting image of Eugene Monroe (just hopefully healthier)..

I like Coleman a lot. He is inflated on these rankings as I really don't think there is a ton of top talent. Should this had been the draft with Mike Evans, OBJ, Watkins, Brandin Cooks, Kelvin Benjamin and so on he is not even close to being part of the conversation. With the talent this year though he gets bumped up. For me he is an unpolished Brandin Cooks who is not as physical and has yet to work the inside game like he has. I like Coleman more than Phillip Dorsett though, who I liked a lot. Coleman excites me with his quickness off the line, he has such a great swim move and stutter and go it is crazy. That alone makes me think he will be able to get really good separation in the NFL. Tons of questions in terms of system but I would take the chance.

The Jaylon Smith is mainly because Jack is injured. I agree, but I need updates for myself to justify. I really hope we get to see Arthur Brown in there in these last couple of games as I want to know how a player of his style would operate in our system. As you say this I would probably shift him after Buckner

I am with you on this. I think he will be in talks of the late 1st - 2nd round. I don't think he makes the first just because of competition and from what I read has a broken hand so that may hinder his movement. He is supposed to be practicing soon though. I am excited to see him in the East-West Shrine game--will be big game for his stock

Good work as always. I have a feeling Wentz ends up in the 2nd round.

Wentz is a guy I've seen a lot of draft guys talking about lately.  I've seen a ton that have him as the #3 QB in the class behind Goff and Lynch.

Im thinking Tunsil will be #1 on our board, even over Bosa. He's an elite talent of an OT, and even though CB is the higher need, I think a guy in Tunsil would be hard to pass up given our problems at OT since Ogden has departed. I know we have problems at CB too, but I think at this point with Monroe's injuries and Hurst awful play, you grab Tunsil who can be your OT for the next decade and then some. I don't anticipate him being there for us though. I'm a fan of Darian Thompson as well.

I like this mock though. If this was our draft I would be pretty happy.

I will take ogbah before Bosa. But we make pass rushers, so that isn't even thought to me.

Ogbah over Bosa? Why? Surely can't be talent wise.

Maybe value? I don't know. I don't see the same type of talent. Bosa is significantly better than Ogbah, who is good but he is raw. Ogbah reminds me of Danielle Hunter coming out of LSU, and even somewhat of Suggs coming out. Suggs was a much more refined prospect, however, and as such, he was a higher pick. Suggs had that ridiculous first-step, although he was never very fast in straight speed.

I wouldn't take Ogbah over Bosa, but that's me. I really want Tunsil, but if we can't get him I like Bosa then Hargreaves.

I'm pretty much the same.

Yeah. I see it like this: Tunsil > Bosa > Hargreaves >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ... others.

Lol, obviously an exaggeration for the sake of making a joke, but it does illustrate the drop-off in talent. This is really a crappy draft class. I really hope we somehow get lucky and get Tunsil, Man, that would be beyond great. Tunsil at LT would be devastating, IMO, and would go a long way to bringing us to being an elite offense.

I totally agree. I don't think this is a strong class and there is a severe drop off after the top 5 with the exception of some guys but IMO this class is not better than the 2015 class from the way I see it.

I used to prefer Stanley at LT but after watching more tape on Tunsil I'm more than convinced that he's the better LT. He reminds me of our own Marshall Yanda in terms of play style, now I know its unusual considering Yanda is a guard and Tunsil is a tackle but they are both maulers. Both of them thrives in run-blocking and I feel that Tunsil fits the identity of this OL more than Stanley.

My personal fav. scenario would be Tunsil, then Boyd and finally Darian Thompson. That would be an amazing draft IMO.

I think Nkemdiche is due for a big rise. The tape stands out to me and he seems like a guy who is going to flash in the combine(Hopefully), I think he can find his way to the top 5. While I don't think he'll go over Tunsil or Bosa as of now, who's the to say he won't depending on team needs. A team like Tennessee could use a guy like Nkemdiche. They have already invested a lot in pass rushers and they did use a first on a LT not to long ago. I really think they might like a guy like Nkem a lot.

Nope not that because most on the board has him as the savior to our pass rush woes.

because the forums hold him in high regards, that makes ogbah a better prospect?

We're on like the exact same page, lol. The exaggeration might not even be that extreme, this is a REALLY bad draft.

you said you'd take ogbah over bosa, and your reasoning was because these boards anoint bosa the savior of our pass rush.. And those are almost verbatim quotes from you. I'm just trying to see if I'm understanding you correctly Edited by JoeyFlex5

why is everyone so big on tunsil. Doesnt he worry you even a little that he could be a bust.

Of course, but that shouldn't mean we should not take him. Everyone has a little bust factor in this draft including Bosa. You can't tell sometimes but if you hit with Tunsil it could lead to a huge turnaround for this team.

That wasn't my reasoning cause people group think here, I think Ogbah fits our scheme better. If want to know why just ask, don't assume what you think I mean.

I didn't assume anything, I read your opinions which literally stated you think ogbah is better than bosa because everyone overrates bosa. You said it, not me

Yeah. This draft is pretty weak. I don't think it's a terrible draft. I see it somewhere between 2013 & 2015. It's not great but it's not bad. Just a lot of good talent nothing wow except for a couple guys. I don't see much separating #10 from #40 tbh, but that's without putting together a real big board.
