[News] Nick Boyle Suspended For Final Four Games

75 posts in this topic

Before Boyle popped these pills, he could have asked someone who had the answer to performance-enhancing drugs violating NFL rules. Like maybe a pharmacist, Raven's medical team, even Steve Bisciotti. Dumb rookie move hurts the team. Innocence doesn't count squat.

i doubt he did this on purpose.  a lot of things that test positive for peds are things you could''t imagine your not supposed to take

Then maybe the NFL needs to do a much better job clarifying what is and isn't to be taken, consumed, used, etc., it would clear up a lot of "mis-understanding" ........

This could be true, however, if I made my living playing in the NFL, you can bet that I'd know each and every one of those "banned substances" and would expect that the club instructs them all about the subject. People will still always try to excuse them, though. Woe is me, the victim. How could I have known? Right.

One of the surprise standouts from the draft and then he goes and does some crap like this. He knew what he was doing. Now he will be missing valuable reps. This season is a damn joke. Where's pitta when you need him? Get your head on straight Boyle. You were just starting to build quite a fan base and stunts like this won't do nothing but hurt you.

Actually, an NFL player has to be responsible for whatever goes into their bodies. The NFL does and will tell an NFL player, if they request if something is approved or not, advise them if it will or will not be triggered for a substance they test for. I am sure that part of the rookie symposium back in training camp, the coaches emphasize this...but players need to stay on top of it. Lapse in judgement, taking something without consulting the NFL whether it was legal or not. Lesson learned, and move on.

This is one botched up Raven's season. Who would have thought we would be thin at TE with the 3 young bucks we have? Completely probable in this season.

The big problem with the leagues substance abuse policy is that it covers which drugs are banned, but not where these drugs may be found. Now, there is an argument to be made that players should do their due-diligence and check into any drugs taken, but how many of these players are 21, 22 years old. Manziel can't even go one bye-week without boozin' a little bit. Take Adderall for example. Every player in the league should know it's banned. The problem there is that technically Adderall isn't the banned substance, it's the chemical compound found within Adderall that's banned. That includes all 5 chemical compounds, which happen to be found in other drugs like Strattera, which isn't even primarily used for ADHD, but contains ADHD medication. An NFL player takes Strattera, takes a blood-test, tests positive for Amphetamine Aspartate Monohydrate or Amphetamine Sulfate and boom, 4 games gone. The same thing sorta happened to Haloti Ngata last season. He didn't make any excuses and owned his mistake, but he never intended to take behavioral modifiers. Still got him a 4 game suspension and an omission from the pro-bowl when he was on pace for another stand-out year.

At this point, it really doesn't matter who the Ravens lose this season. It really can't get much worse than losing your starting QB, starting RB, backup RB, #1 Draft pick, #1 WR, Suggs, and so on, and so on, and so on........ then again, the way this season is going I wouldn't be surprised if Harbaugh lands on IR and Trestman takes over as head coach.

This is what doctors are for. 99% of anything they should be taking should require physician approval.

Don't know a doctor on the planet who wouldn't take care of this for you. Certainly not the NFL job to tell you where to get medication. They're not in that business

Another great draft pick by ozzie :/

What does this have to do with Ozzie? It was a great pick. He has been a good player for us. He messed up, now he has to deal with it. Ozzie didn't give him the PEDs.

That sucks because he was really starting to play well. This is going to be pretty much the rest of the season.
