[News] Justin Tucker Explains Missed 55-Yarder

40 posts in this topic

I find it ironic that a kicker has to explain why he missed a kick Lol. Like, do we seriously need an answer to something that takes common sense. NOBODY IS PERFECT!

. I was at the game and I thought it went in from my angle. It was pretty embarrassing cheering and standing up with all the dolphins fans. It wasn't until my friend, who is a dolphins fan, asked me why I was cheering for a missed field goal.

Tuck is reliable and maybe the contract is on his mind. Maybe he should save his Instagrams and ads for off season. Kickers are known as head cases but we assume his casual personality eliminates that from his game. Regardless through week 12 he was number eight in the league despite his long kick shortcomings. If Craddock is healthy and available in the draft the Ravens could do worse than pick him up in the middle rounds.

Whatever ails Tucker isn't going away overnight. Give him time and he will get back to making every kick again. Sometimes, things like form affect players and he isn't immune from it just because we think he is infallible. He is a great kicker, but also human with a mind that can be affected.

Less singing and Mathew Mc commercials would probably do wonders for a guy that had no problem booming 60 yarders. If your not choking in the Operatic spots then you shouldn't be during live games that are paying a lot more then Lincoln Continental 7.O's. lol

Tuckers season so far has summed the entire teams season....Uncharacteristic,not playing up to the teams expectations, and a lot of close games, like his close misses....When things go wrong it has a snowball affect....No one anticipated the amount of injuries to key players....But IMO the silver lining is Harbs and the coaching staff, and FO needed to eat some humble pie, we have been good for a good stretch, and sometimes you expect to win games by showing up.....The coaching staff, and FO needs to get re-focused and get back on track next year...But i still love the fact the young players from past and present drafts, and UDFA are getting so much real game experience, which i feel will make our depth deep next year when the injured starters come back really good....JMO....

Tucker was missing them beyond fifty going towards that goalpost during the halftime warmups. The people at the game knew it was gonna be a tough kick. He was nailing it in the other direction.

Please don't overpay the kicker. Rumors of making him the highest paid kicker worry me.

I love Tucker and what he has done but he has been very inconsistent this year.

So I guess he shouldn't have taken time out to get married also?  I'm sure the commercials were done in a day and if he likes to sing in his off-time so be it. Whether you want them to or not, they do have a life outside of football.

You really reached on this one.

such spoilt fans, I cant think of any other NFL team that wont grab tucker in a hear beat. You guys are so spoilt to him being so good that now you think nailing 55yd field goals on a wet and windy environment. Half of the field goal kickers in the league wont even be sent on the field to attempt that kick.

just a dose of reality check our last kicker couldn't kick from 32yrds which is like an extra point these days. So simmer down with the bashing. He's still the best kicker in the league.

I know this has been a disappointing season and highly unlikely at this point that we make the playoffs. However, the fact that we have not given up on any of the games and continue to fight for everything regardless of the obstacles we have faced this year says a lot about our coaching staff and the players buy in. For every game to be decided by 8 points or less shows that Harbaugh has not lost control or trust of the players.

Pay Tucker, pay an elite offensive line, pay for elite receivers, and rework elite Joe's contract, piece of cake right Ozzie!!!!!!!!!!!! That's what we need to put us back in the playoffs next year, Steve Bisciotti has deep prockets I hope!!!!!!! UGH lets not forget the defensive secondary that needs fixin to.

If it's reaching to suggest that he maybe distracted then I'm reaching. Barring death and birth I'd say priorities are priorities. Every employer wonders why you may have a drop off in production. What makes him different? Your acceptance of subpar performances only leads me to believe your bias and will defend your player like prepaid lawyer. Or just plain blinded by past performances. The past is the past and in todays new economy, if you don't consistently produce you don't get paid. If your working two jobs _One part time and one full. Say you muck up a valuable piece of the task your assigned on your highest paying full time job. Then you continue that pattern on a number of occasions. You don't think your employer isn't going to question what's going on?…………

If not, your not working anywhere……….unless it's a rich relatives business. And even then you won't be working for them for long cause they won't be happy eating the cost of your free enterprising.

First of all NEITHER one of us knows if he's practicing more/less this year than he has in the previous.   So to assume what he's doing w/ his EXTRA time is taking away from his practice time is a reach.  Secondly, we're talking about Tucker missing from 50+ yards out.  We're not talking about 35 yard FGs he's missing.  We're talking half a football field.

Secondly, using your employment example, Tucker is an excellent worker for his every day normal tasks (FGs less than 50 yards), but he like others will have issues with harder tasks that have a less of probability of completing (50+ yarders). I'm not going to downgrade him b/c he has issues w/ the same hard tasks as his peers.

Maybe just maybe if we didn't have such a high expectation of him, we'll respect the talent that he does have.

Can't help but wonder about after effects of the collapsing turf in San Fran. That seems to be about the point when JT's kicking went strange (or shall we say, wide right). Wonder if there is some minor pull/injury left over from that fall? Still amazes me that he didn't break something.

And I still think we should lock him up in a 3 year contract or more. Even now, he is better than most, and you know he find the problem and fix it.

I didn't downgrade nor degrade him, I made an observation. I have high expectations of every player on this team or why watch /\? It truly amazes me Who, What, When and Why some tend to take a defensive stance on opinions posted in this forum. Your opinion doesn't trump mine and vice versa as they are just that opinions. If you don't have an open mind your must apt not to learn anything. I could be wrong but none the less I truly believe he may be distracted at best or injured at worst. And by the way- All his misses weren't from 50 plus.
