[News] Late For Work 12/7: You Won't See A Worse Blown Call By Refs All Year

110 posts in this topic

I'm not a fan of the refs, but based off your suggestion, they would have one day off a week.  Heck the players would get more time off than the refs.

I think each ref group officiates 1 game a week. If that's true I dont see why they can't train 4 days a week and work 1 game. The players need extra days off to recover. The refs don't. Let's not forget they are making 1%er type of money. Why not make them earn it?

First the Jax blown penalty non-call, and now this. Refs 2 - Ravens 0. We should be 6-6, but we're 4-8. Thank you, Roger Goodell.

Impossible to think we would have won this game if that TD counts. Every single play that occurs after it dramatically changes with that TD.

We may have scored that TD and lost by 20.

NFL is going to make a bigger deal of Schaub's  "concussion" than the ref's bad play calling.  That's their way of drawing attention away from the fact they are blind..

RE: Matt Shaub, I agree with Mr. Hensley and would add that the Ravens should not have picked him over Ryan Mallett coming out of the preseason.

Not with the way our D was playing. 15 Miami points all came off turnovers with less than two min left in the half. If that TD counts, Ravens don't need to push in the last 2 mins. Ravens don't need to go for it on 4th down. If that TD counts we win 99% Edited by Halshayeji

There is no such thing as a blown call. The zebras are well paid and have had years to practice their worth. They deserve Oscars. Since it is TV, give them an Emmy.

Cary Williams just got flat out cut by the Seahawks. that makes two teams that got fooled and swallowed his guaranteed money in 2 years. Ozzie was right to let him go. Ozzis was not right by keeping 2 injury prone CBs with no real quality backing them up.

Why there isn't a fan uproar over all this inferior officiating is truly baffling. After several seasons where officials have truly managed outcomes of games, why aren't fan angry? I am because this isn't football, its a water-downed version of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). I am a fan of the Ravens through and through, but Dean Blandino and others sitting in the C-Suites in the NFL are MESSING UP, BIG TIME!

Not quite. The TD was early in the game. If the Dolphins wanted to throw for 300 yards, they would have...they certainly had the players to do it and we certainly wouldn't have stopped them. The game plan completely changes.

99% is obviously way too optimistic. Coin flip at best realistically.

One measure that IMO would help the officials is to follow this credo: If you didn't see 100% clearly what you think MIGHT be a penalty ... then keep your flag in your pocket. Err on the side of not inserting yourself into the game. A play that had a penalty that wasn't called isn't IMO nearly as annoying or disruptive as a flag on a ticky tack violation or, worse yet, a foul that was absolutely non-existent.

I don't tune into games to watch officials pick up a ball and walk it 15 yards this way or that way. I tune into games to watch amazing athletes play an amazing game.

LET THEM PLAY.

Very well put.

The NFL needs to re-educate its officials.

You've got to tackle a defensive rusher to get a holding call on a pass play, but any little transgression is a hold on a run play.

After the NFL said don't criticize our refs publicly the Ravens have been pounding them from coach to team website. I would be surprised if the Ravens don't get a hefty fine especially since the coach called it the worst call ever to the team website expounding on it. I have commented as recently as two weeks ago that since the season is a wash let's bring Daniel Brown up. After what he showed, I don't see why he didn't get more time. Especially since we only had 1TE and Brown is a big boy. Urschel reporting fiasco (cost a TD in one score game), the blown PI call on Hill that would have ended game, the Jaguars call at end of game, and yesterday's call on Brown is 4 games we should have won but the NFL ripped us off. Add the 5 of 7 away games to start the season, 2 two game trips to the west coast and it's hard to believe the NFL isn't shafting the Ravens for some reason. If you complain your a conspiracy theory nut but if T Sizzle and Ray Ray thought the super bowl blackout was a set up, this year makes that look like nothing.

You remember how everyone was saying this offseason that the Ravens and Seahawks were likely to make the SB?  I think we could easily have had a winning record and been even ahead of the Steelers by now if the refs hadn't been so blatantly biased against our team.  It's like a sports analyst said a few weeks back, "the Ravens are the best bad team in NFL history."

NFL execs saw that we could make another run, as well as everyone else, and came up with a plan to ensure it wouldn't happen - at all costs.  We've really been disliked by the league for a while now, but this year it has been blatantly obvious, even to fans of other teams.  For one thing, our division has one of the NFL's (and country's) fav teams (Steelers).  And with everyone having such high expectations for the Steelers this year, it makes so much sense for the NFL to make the Steeler's road to the postseason a little easier by sabotaging at least one of the teams in this division that was crowded with post-season contenders.  Guess which team that was?

Did the NFL own up to their refs mistake yet?

At this point I don't care if they own up to it.  They know they are purposely sabotaging the Ravens season, and when they come and "own up to it" the next day or so later, to me, it really just equates to the NFL throwing it in our faces that they hate our team and are purposely keeping us out of the postseason...

Remember what Ray said...."Don't let the game be in the refs hands". If we were really a dominant team we wouldn't need to worry about a few bad calls. I know it is very frustrating man, but at the same time I just have to remind myself, we are still a struggling team regardless.

Yea we have our problems but you ever think that maybe the reason we haven't dominated some of these games is because the refs are flag happy throughout the game when it comes to the Ravens?  For example, that OPI that whipped out Daniel Brown's TD in the first qt against Miami?  Those are points that were robbed from us early on in the game.  Not getting them has a huge affect on the way the rest of the game is played and ultimately, the outcome of the game itself.

You have a valid point, but the fact of the matter is we were still robbed of 7 points... PERIOD.  Not to mention, since our defense had Miami's number, I hardly think we'd have lost by 20 points (well, unless Schaub threw 3 more picks).

I watch most NFL games, and I can tell you for a fact that the refs are not "flag happy when it comes to the ravens", their flag happy in every game in the NFL.  Its sad

The Ravens are a respectable ball club in the NFL.

Are we really going to be lead by Jimmy Clausen this week???? There are some good back up QB's out there... Matt McGloin in Oakland... Jake Locker in Tenn....is a 3rd stringer and I think he has more potential then Jimmy Clausen... Zach Mettenberger...2nd string in Teen... TJ Yates... in Houston.... he almost beat us in the playoffs a couple of years ago... I really like Ryan Nassib in NYG... and he could be our answer for a future back up as well.... Matt Flynn in NO???? IDK....there are some quality backups out there and we will need to add one for next season.... Maybe a deal should be in the works????

Locker hung it up in Pre-Season
