[News] Late For Work 12/7: You Won't See A Worse Blown Call By Refs All Year

110 posts in this topic

I guess justin tucker isnt automatic anymore. the only good thing about that is we can get him cheaper now. Its sad i cant even be mad at the ravens becuase the ravens continue to play vs other teams and the refs with half of our back up due to injuries. Refs love to screw the ravens over. Next year daniel brown is going to be a beast.

Daniel Brown looks to be a keeper. Liked him from the get go and he just seems to find the open spot, a la Campanaro. Hopefully Brown, unlike Camp, can stay healthy. Can't wait until April but please let's do our homework this year esp. on prospects medical outlooks!

if we aren't going to re-sign schaub, at least try diff. qbs. I for one would like to see wenning playing. He played pretty good in pre-season so why don't you see if he can do it in regular season also? If he turn out to be decent, keep him as a backup and develop him.

Billick just burned a twitter troll hard. Officiating makes me want to vomit this year. Every week they seem to out do themselves. But in all honesty, we should handle some of these crappy teams, yet we just play to their level and do not capitalize on PTS. Buck Allen played great, and almost created an extended run play as a receiving threat. Kamar continues to show us he belongs, Butler and Brown also were making plays. If you are a back up you need to be durable, and reliable when you are called upon. Those three guys are keepers. Camp and Marlon can't be trusted.

It really wouldn't have made sense to put him on the active roster day one.  The guy came from a lower level college so he probably needed to refine is technique.  He really only got brought up  because of injuries to other players.  I hope he turns into something special but the odds are against him.

Here we go again with the Daniel Brown haters smh.

What do you have against players coming from a lower level college? Webb came from a "lower level college" as you like to call them. I like to call them "small schools"

So you can go ahead and take your Matt Elam big college players, i'll keep my eyes on the real players we have, whether they are small school or large school.....

Jerry Rice an Walter Payton both came from small colleges.

Other notable players from small schools...

1. Joe Flacco - Delaware

2. jared Allen - Idaho State

3. Marques Colston - Hofstra

4. London Fletcher - John Carrol

5. Adam Vinatieri - SD State

With the amount of bad officiating that has happened this year, I wonder if the rule book has gotten so complex to where common sense no longer prevails. Some of the technicalities of the rules for the simplest aspects of the game are ridiculous!

relax there buddy, i was just saying DB was raw coming out a small school thats all.  And that it took some time for him to develop his rout running.  no reason to get hostile.  i like dan brown .i just think its going to be tough for him to make the team next year.  hopefully he will.  you can't start saying he's a superstar with only one nil game under his belt.  lets be realistic .  looks like i touched a nerve, sorry

we were cheated this entire year; sad

Remember what Ray said...."Don't let the game be in the refs hands". If we were really a dominant team we wouldn't need to worry about a few bad calls. I know it is very frustrating man, but at the same time I just have to remind myself, we are still a struggling team regardless.

The only referee crew that was any good was the ones in the Monday night game at Cleveland two weeks back. That's the only time this year there haven't been ongoing discussions about refereeing throughout the week. Not just because the Ravens won but the fact that the fouls that were called seemed legitimate and the referees let the teams play and decide it on the field. My biggest gripe on the blown call by the ref on D Brown yesterday is that no other ref on the field went to him and say "you blew it" pick up the flag. There should have been at least two other refs that were in position to assist on that call. For what it's worth in the CFL the coaches could have challenged the call. With officiating this lousy, the NFL needs to adjust what can and can't be challenged. As long as the team has a time out they should be able to challenge anything!!! Obviously the Ravens would have challenged that call and won (the review would have taken 10 seconds) and also the next play when our RB was facemasked big time. These two calls took away a TD and a 15 yard penalty that would have put the Ravens in FG position (under 50 so Tuck would have made it!)and thus having the Rvens taking the lead early. As far as the placement of the ball near the goal line I think we were shafted on both 3rd and 4th downs but that's judgment you put into the zebras hands by not bootlegging at least one of those plays. The point is we should have had anywhere from a 10 to 14 point lead before Schaub throws the interceptions and you would think with a 14 point lead that Trestman would be running the ball and the game is totally different. Bottom line is the Ravens have been shafted out of 3 to 4 games with pathetic officiating. This is the NFL. It needs to be better!

Wow so they were saying i was right we should have kept Renner and cut schaub....Hmm all those neg's and right again.....love it.....And seriously the league better start looking into the ref's being on the take......this is happening waaaay too much for it to be a "blown call".....gotta keep the game on the straight or who's going to be left watching?? its also going to be hard to keep a player(tucker)that wants to get paid over another player(anyone else)that Deserves to get paid because they actually produce......its going to be a bumpy ride folks!....Hold on!

I liked the crew we had in game 1. I know that many feel we should have gotten a PI call on the final drive, but I'm really OK with that one. It is consistent with the way I think refs need to call these games (when a penalty call is close, get the heck out of the way and hold your freaking flag).

Had the same crew done game 2, Will Hill would have had a pick. Had they done yesterday's game, DB would have had his first career TD.

The NFL will not do anything about the Refs until it affects a Patriot, (or maybe Steelers) game resulting in a important loss. Then the NFL Commissioner, Robert Kraft.....umm I mean Roger Goodell, will have to immediately intervene to correct the situation. Rookie or not Ray Charles could see that was not pass interference, and that Matt Schaub was clearly past the 1st down marker before the pile up, then miraculously the Ref can tell that the ball was a mere few inches short. Yeah right!!!! The refs to me threw the game, then Matt Schaub helped them out with picks.Kind of funny the reduction in penalty calls after that? Hummmmm....GO RAVENS!

Sooo glad Daniel has gotten an oportunity. This kid reminds of an Ed McCAFTERY, Joe Jurivious type player with a tough edge about him.

The refs hate us because we simply won't die, almost everything that could go wrong this season has, and the league hates the fact that we have so much heart and fight week after week.

I feel like the one caption says it all. We have a back up QB.... 2nd string WR corps at best....Our top TE went out of the game and our game plan was to throw the ball 46 times vs the Dolphins. THe Dolphins are number 32 in the league stopping the run... I get balance but Cmon... lets attack a team where they are weak! not where we are. 46x with our passing offense... (QB-WR's -TE and Monroe being out)????? No wonder Schaub is concussed!

NFL Referees work for a billion dollar employer but only work part time. They should be full time NFL employees. They should get Monday off during the season but report to New York Tues-Thursday for film study, rule reviews and etc. Friday or Saturday should be travel day. The schedule would need adjusted for Thursday and Monday game crews , but can be done. During the off season they should be involved with rule changes and studying film , rules. During the off season other training should be attended weekly such as medical (IE concussion) awareness.

I'm not a fan of the refs, but based off your suggestion, they would have one day off a week.  Heck the players would get more time off than the refs.

Danial Brown will make the 53 man roster in 2016, no doubt!

If you want him on the team start bashing him. The Ravens always seem to do the opposite of what the fans are for.

Are we really going to be lead by Jimmy Clausen this week???? There are some good back up QB's out there... Matt McGloin in Oakland... Jake Locker in Tenn....is a 3rd stringer and I think he has more potential then Jimmy Clausen... Zach Mettenberger...2nd string in Teen... TJ Yates... in Houston.... he almost beat us in the playoffs a couple of years ago... I really like Ryan Nassib in NYG... and he could be our answer for a future back up as well.... Matt Flynn in NO???? IDK....there are some quality backups out there and we will need to add one for next season.... Maybe a deal should be in the works????

It was one of the worst calls I have ever seen. Just sad to rob a young player of his first TD. Nevertheless I think Brown could be a very nice player for us!

First the Jax blown penalty non-call, and now this. Refs 2 - Ravens 0. We should be 6-6, but we're 4-8. Thank you, Roger Goodell.
