[News] The Breakdown: Eisenberg's Five Thoughts vs. Dolphins

When you win or lose games consistently by a close margin, you just can't leave 3 points on the field. It's much better to play with a little lead than with a tied game.

what's wrong with Tucker? His focus. Since getting married and making those Royal Farm store commercials it appears that he is having a better time off of the field. But, what the heck, it all comes down to team play and the team is not very good this year and that is the bottom line.

Very sad season. Just thinking of the fatc that if they have to bench Schaub, the challenge of our WR's having to get used to 3 different QB's, let alone the WR set has been getting mixed up as well. Worst season ever for the Ravens in my book

I agree and it will take years to get back to what we are all used to. Too many gaping holes to fill. Plain simple facts. Like it or not, fans. Ozzie needs to retire after this year, also. It's just time.

1. I hate this season so badly.

2. The Daniel Brown TD that was taken back is proof the refs either don't know what they're doing or just messing up on purpose.

3. Schaub was tough as nails yesterday, I can say that.

4. Buck Allen is awesome.

5. It's nice to know our defense really only held the Dolphins to 10 points.

6. We have to play the Dolphins AGAIN next year.

Same 5 thoughts as last week. 1. Schaub is horrible! 2. Schaub is horrible! 3. Schaub is horrible! 4. Schaub is horrible! 5. Schaub is horrible!

While Flacco has his moments of poor play, he generally get's the job done and we believe he will in the end. Flip the coin. Schaub has moments of competency, but he generally give the game to the other team and we know he will at some point. I don't entirely blame Schaub because the the Refs scrwd us on the called back TD and Harbs should have gotten the points on that 4th and 1 at the goal line, but Schaub can't give the other team 12 points!

Schaub is playing about as well as a backup QB with no starting-caliber weapons (or left tackle) can be expected to play. He made some nice throws - including the TD pass that was egregiously called bak - and absorbed some serious punishment. Both picks were off of deflections, which are not quite as bad as his at-'em ball pick six last week. Believe me, a few quarters of watching "The Pickle" play will have folks clamoring for Schaub's return.

I would rather see the development of a Renner or whoever the Ravens felt strongly enough about to draft but have slip off their roster due to depth. Bring in a young guy and give him a few games to prove he is a legit backup. He will work for peanuts and get good game experience. What do we have to lose?

Hopefully we get to play them in Baltimore! This was the third year in a row that we have played in Miami. It should have made us 3-0 in the last 3 years as well. Overall, solid game, especially by our defense. Schaub isn't doing terrible, we have to remember he is a backup. He doesn't have the best supporting cast, and has made some nice plays, but there are of course the very dumb mistakes. Yesterdays interceptions were bad luck, it happens when you play QB. Its a tough year, just have to keep fighting and win as many as we can.

What do you guys suppose is up with Tucker? Also, how will this affect his upcoming contract?

I believe he and his agent won't be giving much of a discount despite his long-range aim issues this year, 'cause they believe Tucker has shown enough of what he's capable of. But from Ozzie's side of things, I can't see him making Tucker the highest paid kicker if he is currently the 31st in the NFL in kicking accuracy for this season. We all know about the "what have you done for me lately" mantra. And I'm afraid this is where the two parties won't find mutual ground and I could see Tucker playing next year under the franchise tag.

This will be tough. It might not be a bad idea for Tucker to play under the tag. He is going to want top 5 money, regardless of what he has done this year. He has sucked from 50+, but has also hit 3 game winners and been very solid from inside 50. We know what he has done in previous years, so all Ozzie really has is what he has done this year. So it wouldn't be a bad idea to tag him, tell him to prove he is the best, and go earn it (like Flacco). The tag could be beneficial for Tucker actually.

Gee, isn't this the same Daniel Brown we cut before the season so we could keep Marlon Brown? Wasn't the reason we cut him because he looked great playing third and fourth teamers? Explain.

It's not spectacular, but it's pretty solid.

2010 was awful.

2011 was a success. Torrey and Jimmy played big roles in us winning a SB. Jimmy struggled after his injury this season, but was a shutdown corner in the year and a half before getting hurt, and has been playing better in the past month.

2012: 2 quality starters, including a pro bowl caliber talent in KO. Another success.

2013: Another massive failure in the first 2 rounds, but Brandon Williams looks like he's going to be a dominant fixture in our D-line for years to come.

2014: Pro Bowler and Starting D-lineman, with potential to become great. Another success.

2015: Too early to tell, but I think Perriman is going to be a huge part of our offense when he comes back. He was playing with the starters and making big plays in shorts in the summer, which I know doesn't mean much, but with his physical ability, I think he's going to do great things with Joe.

Let me add on, because we have not been drafting nearly as bad as people believe. In 2011, we drafted 3 players who really contributed to our success. We drafted McPhee that year, who unfortunately for us is dominating for the Bears. 2012 was a solid draft, as you stated 2 quality starters. Peirce looked promising, but injuries and Peirce himself got himself out of Baltimore. Deangelo Tyson was a solid pick in the 7th round. 2013 was actually pretty successful, as we did get 3 starters out of that draft. Brandon Williams, Kyle Juszczyk, and Ricky Wagner, not bad. 2014 was a phenomenal draft. About every single player in that draft has played, and has a lot of talent. If we can get some of those players to stay healthy, that would be one of our best draft classes in years. The jury is still out on this past draft, but it looks bright. Ozzie is fine, just hard to have a good year when 8 offensive starters are out with injury.

#1: Flacco is missed. #2 Buck Allen is looking good, better than Forsett did all year. If he continues to be successful he may be the lead back next year in Baltimore. #3 Defense is making strides, but still needs turnovers. #4 Refs are bad in a lot of games, not just Raven games. It is a problem, they need more training this offseason. #5 Ravens continuing streak of being not bad but not good at same time. Few changes in next offseason can change that positively real quick and I am excited to see what the front office does.

I would draft a franchise corner in the first round. Because we dont have one. Hopefully one of those corners out of flordia come out. Ive lost all faith in webby hes washed up and jimmy walked into that big contract he got because he was injured most of his rookie contract and he fooled everyone by showing flashes, but its clear to see now hes not that guy we can rely on. hes not a number one corner

Why so harsh bro?

I honestly wouldn't mind drafting a CB or pass rusher with our first round any year if the player is the best on the board. You can never have enough pass rushers or cornerbacks. But to lose all faith in Webby is a bit too harsh to me. hes been playing much better of late. I'd even go as far as claiming hes the best tackler in our secondary behind Hill. Hes playing great at the nicle. Maybe my heart is saying this more than my head but over the past 3 weeks, Webb has played like the best nickle CB in the NFL. Just don't line him up against opposing #1 WRs. J.Smith didn't have flashes. He took out the opposing #1 reciever week after week until he got hurt. Hes still a great CB but is having a down year coming off a complicated injury and bad schematic year for the secondary as a group. Last but not least, Drafting a CB early in the draft doesn't guarantee pluging a whole at our #2 CB. Converting from NCAA to NFL is really tough on secondary players. If we draft a CB early next year. Don't expect him to outplay J.Smith untill later in the year or maybe even the year after that. Thats just how it goes CB's take time...

On the positive - This team is fighting and growing before our eyes during this second half of the season early and extended training camp. Looking forward to seeing how they measure up against Seattle and Kansas City these next two weeks.

I am concerned about Tucker. Coming into his contract year, under 50 he is flawless but over 50 he has been pushing the ball right almost every time. Even the ones he makes he is pushing. I know no one works harder as a kicker to hone their craft but fortunate for Tucker he has gotten second chances in a lot of games. Unfortunately for the Ravens, he didn't get a second chance yesterday. No guarantee we would have won since there was still 2 minutes on the clock but that kick would have put a lot of pressure on Tannehill and we would have seen how our secondary held up.

My only doubt is that Harbaugh doesn't know how to build the RAVENS type of defense. Draft like 3 DE's with the intention of converting at least 2 of them to OLB. Then get some game changing Safeties.

One thing I would do is make sure teams CANNOT run the ball on us.

Ravensfansince03 - What you are talking about has nothing to do with Harbs and everything to do with Oz and Eric.

Yeah because you can totally draft a DE and convert him to OLB without any developmental problems, and game-changing safeties can easily be picked up off the street. Come on man, we've been trying to get safety help for years now, our signings and draft picks just haven't been the answer. We've drafted DEs in almost every draft, we drafted a Safety in the first round not that long ago. This year we drafted an OLB rd 4, last year a DT and Safety in rounds 2 and 3 (our first round pick was an MLB), the year before that we drafted a safety first round. Will Hill looks like our safety of the future. I wanna see them move Webb to safety full time, and draft a talented CB if one is available, and maybe Trey Walker can develop.

its not his job to build the defense.

its why a DC and position coaches get hired....

also having DE play OLB is going to give you huge trouble in pass coverage unless you plan on using them to rush only which is going to make you very predictable.

Talk about the officiating, talk about Tucker, talk about whatever you want. But Schaub GAVE Miami 13 of their fifteen points. And the kickoff unit gave them the other two. Miami scored NO OFFENSIVE POINTS, and won the game.

Their offense drove into Miami territory a half-dozen times during the game, but punched the ball into the end zone just once.

AND THAT IS WHY WE LOST THIS GAME..NOT THE REFEREE'S. C'mon people.
