[News] Who's Playing, Who's Not vs. Dolphins

Eugene Monroe is the reason why I have never supported the idea of paying someone else's free agents-- especially one coming from a losing culture. The deal given to Monroe is often reserved for Ravens lifers but they made an exception from tradition and are paying an awful price for it. And before someone mentions the deal given to Boldin-- Arizona had just gone to the Superbowl a few months prior to Boldin coming here!

I'm tired of having LTs that don't love the game the way I'm accustomed to seeing from Ravens players. Monroe and McKinney, while both good when they care, are just not worth the money. Hope we draft a tackle.

The Ravens simply need more time to gel on offense because of the personnel changes. Time is fleeting but it make them interesting to watch.

Monroe missed 4 games in 4 years in Jacksonville and now has four times that amount in 2 years with the Ravens. How do you define "Got Paid"?

We need to draft a big young monster at LT(Ogden comes to mind)and see if we can squeeze or bundle a trade with monroe....or just give him away if we can

Our youngsters are coming on strong. I think we'll make a positive out of our 2nd half, when all is said and done. Maybe next year we'll have some players who are worthy of playing time that we might not have noticed, such as Givens (deep-ball threat) and Butler, and in our secondary. Plus Urschel is getting valuable experience at center, should Zuttah not be around or injured next year. I hope we have 10 wins next year.

If Monroe is going to play less than half our games, I think it is fair to say he isn't a starter. We've attempted to go on the cheap with Hurst and I think we need to address this in the offseason. An undrafted FA as a starting LT is no way to protect your franchise QB.

I don't know that this means we go as high as a first rounder, but we need to address the situation somehow.

... and Gaither before that.

What's the deal with Monroe?

He's heavily compensated already. Now he rests his body and extends his playing life for the next team the can rip off. That about sums it up.

That's what it seems like. He must be a good actor, to act "hurt" all the time.

The best part about being hurt which is pretty common with every single NFL player that suits up, is it is impossible to measure pain. It always is what the player says it is and the doctors will have to accept it. The good players that love the game play through aches and pains every game and don't complain and others just rest.

so around here if someone gets hurt suddenly they don't care. Talk about throwin your team under the bus. Until you've walked in his shoes you need to quit bustin his chops.

Just finished watching the Eagles vs. Lions week 12 match, reminded me why our defensive line isn't the same. We really are suffering from the SUDDEN departure of Ngata, the guy is just a beast. On some plays Ngata is just pushing the Center/Guard back with one arm while using the other arm to setup for a tackle. He even switches from one arm to the other while bullrushing an opponent.. using perfect technique!!!. He seriously almost looks even more explosive. Look for yourself!  This is one of the reasons why our defense has suffered this season, no anchor on the Line. Anyone who thinks our D-line is good the way it is now are crazy, no real NFL Football IQ.

Monroe is the latest whipping boy around here.  Matt Elam,  JahReid   Any others?

Sergio Kindle, KYLE BOLLER, Michael Oher. Remember what this forum looked like when Branden Trawick took out Jacoby on that kick return... or when Lee Evans dropped that pass in the end zone... or when TJ Houshmandzadeh did the same thing.

I guess I'm crazy and I have no football IQ then. Brandon Williams has been playing ten times better than ngata all season. If he's not an anchor I don't know what is. Edited by January J

I wonder why it was no surprise to me to read that Monroe will be out yet again. What are the current odds that he will take the field again this year? I have my doubts that Marlon Brown will be a Raven next year. I always hope for the best for all my Ravens, but sometimes reality kind of rears its ugly head. Only time will tell though. That's always the bottom line.

What's the deal with Monroe?

I think the deal is that he got his payday but he doesn't really have any love for the game. So, he soaks every little tweak that he can for as Long as he can and just happily watches his paychecks get deposited into his bank account, laughing all the time and thinking that, Gee, this is an easy way to get rich. The only time he has to act unhappy is when he's around the team and has to put a look of pain and frustration on his face. I don't see him, so I can't know for sure, but I bet he's a pretty skilled actor. That's what I think the deal with Monroe is. I mean, just look at his injury history in Jacksonville, and then look at it since he got his good payday from the Ravens. Kinda seems like a no-brainer to me.

Interesting, because both Oher and Reid are having good seasons this year for new teams.

Are you hurt or are you injured? I would guess Monroe is hurt, not injured. Lots of money at times can lead to a reduction in passion.
